Wow. What a fantastic place. Great warm welcome and intriguing decor. Vegetarian lunch menu was delicious and the honey cake is highly recommended.
We have decided to go there for my friend's birthday dinner. Service at the beginning was quite quick, however it all went downhill from there. One would assume that when a restaurant has got a wine menu a waiter would be able to serve it properly. Sadly, this was not the case as no one has given it a try before he poured it all out to the glasses. We have ordered a soup each, the fish-based ones were lukewarm at best, however tasted really good. Entrees came really late, with half of them cold. I have sent mine back to the kitchen and instead of getting a reheated one, as this is what I have asked for, the waiter decided to wait until everyone has finished, took the plates and given us the dessert menu. My cold entree was included in the bill, which I found really upsetting as I did not even have half of it before sending it back. Probably would recommend for takeouts if you are able to reheat, otherwise sadly not.
The food is really nice. I totally recommend pelmeni (russian raviolis) and the vinegret salad. But the portions aren’t big and all in all I found the place a tiny bit pricey.
It was nice to come back to old good times with the big possibility to come back again.
The food was tasty, well prepared and well presented. Staff were attentive without being overbearing and friendly. Portion size was good... unfortunately I didn't have enough space to sample the desert menu. Still, there's always next time 😋
The best Russian food in London with very cool Soviet art and modern interior design.
Not impressed at all.
As a Russian, I expected different experience and food, but well. There out of five and won’t return again
It was brilliant: nice service, great food, comfortable space, as the tables aren’t ‘on top of each other’.
Very nice place. Food was very good. Service was nice. The baked apple pudding was amazing.
Amazing russian cuisine
The place is cosy, lively and quiet enough to have a conversation, a nice mix of being both elegant enough to have a date there and casual enough to relax. Very tasty food, feels homemade. The service is both personal and not the least bit intrusive.
Service was top notch. My server accomodated a last minute surprise birthday wishes request for my friend which was amazing!
Great and fast service. If you want to eat something different among the classic and most cousine, Zima is the place for you
Nice surprise with good food. Just the upstairs area is a little quiet and could need more attention
Zima is a well appointed restaurant and the service was very good and friendly. Unfortunately much of our food was poor. Tasteless and low quality meat. Maybe on an attempted health kick as no salt. Dessert was good. Infused vodka good.
The staff here is amazing! They are so friendly and helpful. The food is also delicious. My Russian friend was so impressed she wants to bring her mother. That’s saying something! The flavored vodka is also really fun to try!
Excellent service and interesting food, the Sturgeon was excellent. Highly recommend a visit
The flavoured vodkas are lovely..the food is as i expected and very enjoyable...nice ambiance and i thought pretty good value for the middle of Soho
Had a wonderful dinner with the friend, - pickles, fish, snacks - everything was cooked exactly the way it is supposed to be, with a European twist on Russian cuisine. Highly recommend.
Excellent traditional Russian food. Can recommenced it to anyone wishing to sample Russian cuisine.
Our first visit to Zima and we loved it from the minute we walked in. Cozy but contemporary atmosphere right in the heart of Soho. Our waitress was lovely - she explained all of the Russian dishes to us and was so delightfully friendly throughout the evening that we felt like we were in her home being hosted. The food was delicious and we tried a number of smaller plates which were beautiful (particularly recommend the black squid ink fish Pelmeni/dumplings and the baked stuffed buns - yum!). For the main I had traditional cabbage rolls stuffed with beef and turkey and they were delicious. I've already recommended Zima to colleagues and we'll return ourselves.
This time the restaurant was quite busy, we had to wait for some dishes for a long time. Drinks seem to be pricey. But the food was as always very fresh and tasty!
Really rude hostess at the front this time, I come here a lot and this was the first time I saw her. She made me feel unwelcome and acted haughty, telling me she had no free tables when I walked in. I was able to book one immediately after our conversation through Opentable and even I pointed this out to her she lied to me by saying “I must have had some changes and cancellations”. While everything else was great, she really spoiled this experience and even though I come here frequently next time I will think twice if this member of staff is working.
Lovely food and friendly, attentive service. The host was knowledgeable and his recommended options were spot on.
good quality Russian soul food. Amazing interior and not bad price for the area.
I have been to the restaurant with the group of university friends. I liked the interior with Russian sleds and old spinning/weaving devices on the walls. There is a good choice of traditional Russian dishes like bortsch (beetroot soup), Olivier salad and a number of desserts including Kartoshka and Bird's milk. They also serve Georgian wine which, I believe, is not often served in London. So if you miss Russian food, this place is definitely for you. However, it will be fun for people not familiar with Russian cuisine as well.
It's a decent food, and good for those who have never tried Russian cuisine. Not great service though, overpriced, and quality of food lacks consistency. But an interesting try.
The place is nice and simple. Russian popular music playing.
The service was fair, but not great as we have been forgotten a few times (though it was busy Saturday evening).
Food is good but not great, so being Russian difficult to justify the price you pay for it.
Is good for local to get a bite and taste of what is Russian cuisine though.
Decided to try this restaurant following a recommendation. Charming interior and service were accompanied by traditional Russian fayre with perhaps a little more panache. I had the special of barley and wild mushroom soup while my companion enjoyed the borscht. We tried eat stuffed buns and then the pelmeni. I felt the broth was a little too salty but it was full of flavour. The price without wine was very reasonable. Great experience.
Good food and good service. They speak Russian.
Good food and good service. They speak Russian.
Excellent place with tasty russian food. Borsh is just awesome
Food and service was amazing however the prices where a bit too much
For one tini tiny “pirajok” £2 - a bit much for dough and cabbage
Always coming back to ZIMA. Dined there a few times. Great food, amazing value, very authentic. As a Russian, it's a blessing to have a good value Russian restaurant in London, where you can show off the beauty of Russian cuisine to all your friends! Waiters and waitresses are always friendly and welcoming, good at explaining the menu. I would recommend ZIMA to anyone; way above any other Russian restaurant in London, both in terms of value, and quality.
I had a really nice evening the waiter was great😊 I picked zina for my boyfriend's bday as he loves vodka and we both enjoyed our dinner very homey tastefull and portion were great. Thank you all. You will see us again.
Wonderful e peroence for a
A useful stop-off point to meet up before the local Jazz club Ronnie Scott's but otherwise not worth going out of your way to visit. Limited menu but good value for money.
Great restaurant with vodka, food and nice ambiance!
My girlfriend and I went there on a Tuesday for my birthday - the food was superb, the decor excellent, the drinks delicious and the service was literally impeccable. I'd go there every week if it wouldn't spoil how special it is!
One of if not the cleanest, smartest restaurants I've ever been to. The food was superb and very healthy. The service was excellent - couldn't fault it really. Highly recommended.
