Ideally situated in between the Royal Lyceum, the Usher hall and the Travers theatre, it aims to offer elegant but simple food, using fine Italian and Scottish produce, reflecting both seasonality and the chefs’ creativity, maintaining a Mediterranean theme throughout.
The food is complimented by an unpretentious selection of good wines, moderately priced; highlighting the best style each Italian region has to offer.
Excellent restaurant venu for pre Usher Hall or Lyceum performance.
We eat at Zucca because we come to the theatre (from Glasgow) and we need somewhere reliable and convenient to eat. The carpaccio is great but the tables for two are a bit are small. However, we will come back.
Not as busy as expected on New Year's Eve but we did eat early! Lots of choice for coeliac diners and very accommodating over vegan options - even happy to provide something not on the actual menu.
We enjoyed the meal, especially the sharing plater. Staff were efficient and friendly. Being there on Hogmannay they were quite busy and the place had a buzz about it.
We always enjoy a visit to Zucca, tho it's best to avoid theatre matinee days, when it can get very hectic. The food is good, service pleasant and helpful and it is particular good value with the Groupon voucher. The Affogato is the best.
Nice place close to the Lyceum and the usher hall. Food was tasty but small portions. Price was ok for Edinburgh. Very convenient for theatres.
Lovely wee restaurant in a great central location with very friendly staff
Food was nice, service was great but considering 2 days before christmas ambience was lacking - no music or atmosphere - shame
Lovely food and perfect pre-theatre lunch. Also fine for a wheelchair user for access
Delicious food and great service. Will be back soon.
Had a lovely meal however was dissapointed they added surcharge for our group of 6. We usually always tip and its nice to do this without being told that automatic surcharge added on.
Was staying in Edinburgh for two nights and had booked Zucca for first night.Enjoyed my meal that much booked again for second night.Quality of food and service excellent.
As always ~ service fantastic, food beautifully prepared and presented. We will definitely be back.
Child’s pizza was way to big but the sweet was tiny, sea bass special was disappointing although not an expensive night overall
Great pre-theatre meal!! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent!
We booked a table for dinner before going to the Royal Lyceum Theatre next door. The staff really make you feel welcome and we were warmly greeted at the door. The service throughout our visit was excellent. We sat on the lower level, but there is an upstairs with extra seating. We ordered wine and a starter to share, which came very quickly. The platter is very good, with a wide selection of cheeses, meats, vegetables, and rocket salad. The mains were delicious! We ordered the potato gnocchi, sea bass, and pizza. We also ordered a side of broccoli, which was cooked to perfection. I would definitely eat here again. The total for three glasses of wine, the starter (which was ample for three adults), olives, a side, and three mains was a very reasonable £65.
Really tasty authentic Italian food with pleasant service. The scallops were delicious if a little pricey. Overall, we enjoyed our experience.
The food was lovely and the service was friendly and attentive.
Good friendly service. Food good too.
This was our 2nd visit and it was just as good as our first one. Staff very attentive and polite and food served promptly. Quality of the food was excellent and I definitely recommend the chocolate and orange bombe.
Lovely food with great service. Great for pre theatre.
Excellent and tasty pre theatre menu in restaurant adjacent to the Lyceum Theatre. Friendly service and Italian menu with lots of choices. Meat, fish, pasta and pizza
The staff were friendly and inviting. They were patient in waiting for our third diner to arrive and explained the specials before, offered and provided water then left us perfect timing to choose our meals. The restaurant is joined onto Lyceum Theatre, which is quite different and if seated downstairs, then children do need help to find them (We have an 11 year old). The bolognese and seafood pasta were beautiful and the margerhita pizza was enjoyed for our daughter but be aware it is a large pizza from the children's menu, so can be shared among children too. They were extra helpful offering a takeaway box and ensuring nothing was wrong with the pizza (other than being full).
Perfect team, food etc. thanks a lot. Mille Grazie
First time visiting the restaurant and we will deffinatly be going back again when we next come to Edinburgh. Fantastic food and service and the waiters were very helpful with giving us tips, advice and directions on where to go.
Cosy venue attentive and helpful, friendly staff and food up to expectations . What's not to like?
We had a lovely evening at Zucca. Couldn't fault food or service. Would definitely visit again if in Edinburgh.
Perfect dinner with my girlfriend. We are the last table but the the atmosphere was perfect.Nice wine nice pasta and very good cheesecake. Grazie mile
Had a lovely night at Zucca! We were running a little late on a Friday night so phoned ahead to let them know, and nothing was a problem😊.
The service was great, pleasant and friendly staff and delicious fresh food.
What more could you want really. 10/10 🌟
I've been here before and the food is always excellent! But this time, we were seated at ground level rather than upstairs, which we would have preferred. Our table was near the service area and a noisy coffee machine. It was also quite draughty - especially when the door opened!
The service was a bit sluggish, but the staff were very good.
WE waited 45 minutes for a piece of fish on a bed of rocket !!
Waited over 40 mins on our starters of patè and bruschetta. Ordered 2 ribeye steaks, my partners was fine but mine was full of fat all the way through the steak. I had 2 bits of it. Told the waiter to which he replied sorry but I still had to pay full price for it.
For pre-theatre it's ideal, especially if you book an early slot and get your order in before it gets busy. Having said that, there doesn't seem to be a problem with getting everyone served in time and the staff are friendly and efficient. The welcome is always warm and there is a good choice on the menu. The Venetian style sole was tasty and beautifully cooked. I'd always choose to eat here before a show at The Lyceum or the Usher Hall and I'd happily book at other times too.
As ever it was great here. Starts with those little warm, just-baked rolls to dunk in Balsamic. What not to like? I had the perfectly cooked scallops to start; the comfort food chicken and mushroom and roast potato main was just right; as was the chocolate orange bomb. Thanks!
A wonderful, post-theatre meal. Everyone was very welcoming, even though we arrive just before the kitchen was closing. As always, very enjoyable. Many thanks
Unfortunately we could not stay very long as we had to go to the theatre by 7pm, but the little time we had was very enjoyable, the meal was lovely and service very good, we will be back again soon.
The restaurant was buzzing. Menu was reasonably varied. They need to think about vegetarians. Parmesan has rennet in it which veggies won’t eat. All their veggie dishes contained it (except pizza which we didn’t want) and although they left it out of the risotto, it made the food bland and uninspiring. Maybe they could invest in some vegetarian parmesan or pecorino to help the veggies amongst us.
Really enjoyable pre-theatre meal. Friendly welcome, great food. Will be back.
Such a lovely evening
The place is modern and stylish, but has a really warm feel to it. We sat upstairs where there is plenty of space. The service is something special. Friendly but professional. When the waiter remembers who ordered what on the table (of seven) with no mistakes you know that it’s not an ordinary place. The food was excellent. Highly recommended
Pre theatre dinner. Good and staff as always fabulous
