Bean to Bar at Rabot 1745
Learn how to make chocolate straight from the cocoa bean, using freshly roasted cocoa beans grown on our cocoa estate in Saint Lucia.
Your friendly guide and mentor will be one of Hotel Chocolat’s skilled chocolatiers. After watching an expert tempering demonstration over a glass of Prosecco, you’ll make your own bar of chocolate straight from the bean by hand – a delicious souvenir that you can take home, along with a goody bag of our chocolates.
Rabot 1745 is a unique restaurant and bar, offering innovative cacao cuisine and the polished atmosphere of a Saint Lucian plantation house transported to the heart of London. A true cacao haven, it returns this ancient ingredient to its rightful place as an elegant infusion and subtle spice.View Private Dining Details
We visited for a birthday. Our waiter was very informative and helpful, with a good touch of humour adding to the experience. Our afternoon tea was just perfect to indulge in the delicious tastes. Really lovely to sit overlooking the market on the terrace.
I booked afternoon tea with prosecco to celebrate my daughter ‘s birthday. Service and attention were a perfect mix ;the staff were lovely.
One criticism was that when it came to paying, the electronic card reader had already added a ‘discretionary 12 and a half percent’ to our bill, I was embarrassed by this and was not able to discretely remove it; I would have left a tip, but probably not of that level, (having already committed to £30 per head for afternoon tea, plus another£5 each for a glass of prosecco, this ‘discretionary ‘ tip pushed the cost to almost £40 per head, which did not represent good value.
Tips are discretionary; I felt pressurised. A shame in such a lovely place
We had lunch here after a view from the Shard - waiter was Marco who was very helpful and attentive.
Excellent food - lovely lunch A+++😊
We were welcomed enthusiastically and the great service continued for the whole evening. We used a BAG voucher for 'three courses with prosecco' and this covered everything on the menu (just a small supplement for the Chateaubriand). The food was excellent and exciting with the cacoa twist. We were seated on the terrace with a good view across Borough Market and this created a good ambience. Our waiter was Marco and he was attentive and friendly. Would definitely return.
Some of the staff not as diligent with customer service. As a loyal overall customer, who has stayed and eaten in St Lucia, this was very disappointing “sorry”
Came here for special occasion dinner. Food was very good, well made but not mind blowing. In hindsight, I’d come here for a dessert after dinner elsewhere in borough markets. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, made a special effort for our special occasion which was so nice.
Very nice food. Quite unique as the food has a cocoa theme. The deserts were superb, at first I thought a little small but they are very rich so no need for big portions.
The staff were friendly and very pleasant.
Great experience with chocolate-inspired menu. Food very good.Restaurant terrace great for summer eating. Efficient and friendly staff....
Great location inside Borough Market, with outside terrace overlooking the market but covered by the market roof so good for all weather.
Food was innovative with chocolate in some form in every dish, but was never overpowering just well cooked and tasty. With the exception of the burger you may need to order additional side dishes.
Service was friendly and attentive.
A great find.
Great meal we had a a good time due to the staff it did not matter who it was the service was very good.from the cafe first to the restaurant after.nothing seemed to faze them.they were very kind to the man who spilt his drink all over his partner, all sorted very quietly so not to embarrass, well done .
Really enjoyed the food here but was particularly unimpressed by the service. We went for brunch and the restaurant was no where near full and there was plenty of staff on shift. Despite this, we had to ask a number of times for our drinks as the waiter kept forgetting and it was a struggle to get anyone’s attention to ask for this.
Excellent food. Recommend white chocolate mash. Great friendly service. Good central location. Highly recommend.
The food was fantastic , it all tasted so fresh and if you have never tried chocolate mash it really does work you must try it.
We had a lovely time, staff attentive, food top drawer, loved it all.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dining here. We treated a friend who used to review restaurants & she too enjoyed the experience. Marco attended our needs very well.
Our experience was fabulous. The food was exceptional, especially the scallop starter and the deserts. Will definitely return and recommend to others. The service was excellent, the food came quickly but never felt rushed to move on?
We were a little apprehensive as we had read mixed reviews beforehand, but we need not have worried. We were booked in for lunch for three people on a Saturday and were surprised that the restaurant was not busier. The service was excellent - attentive and friendly without being intrusive and the food was also excellent. Each course was beautifully presented and full of delicious flavours, and surprisingly filling given the portion sizes. The restaurant itself was light and airy, although my fussy husband was a bit upset that the table top rocked a bit if we leaned on it. We would love to go back again, but it is a tad expensive for frequent visits from us - birthday specials maybe ;)
It is an absolute great experience dining at Rabot 1745 on a group gathering (belated birthday party) for friends from abroad. The restaurant is located inside the famous Borough Market, a must seen location for tourists. We have enjoyed a great afternoon for a tasty lunch & coffee, still got time to walk around the market to buy soveniurs.
Food & wine are nice, I loves the Scallops starter and the lamb for main.... Halibut & Seafood plate are delicious too.... chocolate lava & Lemon Tart for dessert make our meal complete . The server from Portugal (forgot to ask his name, sorry) and the lady who serve at the front desk are so friendly and professional. Good job guys, compliment to the chefs too... we will definitely coming back again!!
Excellent quality of food and service, great flavours and a relaxed atmosphere in a very interesting location. Highly reccommended
We enjoyed our dinner at Rabot very much, the food was very good, love the location and the staff excellent. It was our anniversary but we did not mention it yet the staff picked up on this and presented us with our sweets on a board saying Happy Anniversary! A really nice touch that we both appreciated. Will go again
They had run out of a lot of things on the menu, meaning limited choice and what did arrive was no better than ‘pub grub’
A lovely experience with great food and a great view over borough market
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Friendly staff and great food. Enjoyed the chocolate twists. Would recommend.
Having been to the Rabot estate in St Lucia, we wanted to share the experience with our children.
The food was just as good as the original and the Friday evening ambience was great. My only criticism was the price. It seemed to expensive for what it was. Also I fancied the chocolate martini but it wasn’t on the menu. It was amazing in St Lucia.
Not really what I expected given some of the hype surrounding this restaurant.
Food was good, although not served as warm/hot as most folk would want.
The white chocolatier mash really is as good as reviews make out but nt sure I would make a special trip for it. I was pleased that our meal was part of a groupon deal which includes the view at the Shard. This is a good way to pull in both venues as I neither are worth the regular prices on the door.
It was good, but not so good for vegetarians or vegans as there was not much choice. It was good who eats everything.
Fantastic food with terrific service!
Booked with “Buy a gift” along with a trip up the Shard.
A fantasic ending to a great day!
We will be returning and can’t recommend highly enough.
The waiters we're helpful with the children. We were able to have a dairy free option and we're not rushed even though it was a busy time.
Fantastic food, and service and the staff made are special occasion into a memorial one!
Food was out of this world, probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The meat was delicious, tender and full of flavour. Chocolate flavour are subtle. Relaxed atmosphere, attentive waiting staff but had the right level of contact.
Brilliant night from start to finish. Food service and atmosphere were excellent.
Had a lovely experience, food was lovely, staff were super friendly and all In all was a great time.
The last time we visited here we did not have time to eat so we just had drinks and we had a lovely afternoon on the terrace at Rabot 1745. This time we had 3 courses and the food was amazing (the desert to die for as you would expect from Hotel Chocolate). Special mention to our waiter Gabriella who was also very attentive, chatty and genuinely lovely, we will both be visiting again soon.
Excellent service and interesting and good food. The mash potato with white chocolate was incredible, as were all the desserts (and starters & mains....). Fun ambience, can eat either inside or on patio that looks out over Borough Market.
Decided to go to dinner here after having tried the bar with a friend recently. It was an underwhelming experience. Nothing majorly wrong with it but it seemed caught up in its own hype without bothering to deliver.
I’ve had better onion soup in cafe rouge. The lamb was nothing special for the price; sautéed spinach arrived as a bowl of soggy spinach. Though my friend enjoyed his mac n’cheese.
We shared some chocolates instead of having individual deserts.
I had some wine by the glass (merlot), again not great.
I really wanted to like this place. It was a bit of a treat and it just failed to deliver. The venue was nice and the staff were friendly and efficient. But I wouldn’t go back.
I used to like the restaurant, but our recent visit was a bit of disappointment. The food was cold. I asked for gluten-free bread, the bread was cold too. It was a shame as I told few overseas visitors here to impress them but I think everyone was disappointed.
A lovely restaurant in the heart of borough market. Arrived earlier than our booking but the staff were more than happy to accommodate.
We were sat down and were offered our drinks with the menu. Fabio was our host for the evening. Right from the get go he provided a warm and friendly experience. Some light humor and the right level of attentiveness left us really pleased.
The food was very unusual with the mix of chocolate bases. Surprisingly it worked. The food was beautifully put together and full of flavour. The savoury with a touch of sweetness.
A big thank you to the staff especially Fabio. You made our evening.
Absolutely amazing! Loved it! Rare occasion that my husband and I get to go out without the children. Was booked as my birthday treat. Amazing food, couldn’t fault it. Would have licked the plate if I could. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, wow food - couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate.
Lovely evening. The food and service were excellent. Staff very attentive, the presentation and quality of the food was outstanding. Would definitely dine here again.
excellent meal and booked as part of a buyagift experience with a view of the shard - the restaurant was outstanding and the food and service (thank you Cristian) 100%
have already recommended and friends have also booked vouchers to enjoy the experience we had - highly recomended
