Very nice staff, helpful and considerate. Only problem was the stag do that we were seated next to. Asked to be moved to a quieter area and the staff were very quick to do that. Thank you for a lovely meal, great food!
We had a lovely family meal here. Three of us had the Sunday roasts which were delicious and the other two chose different options. We were all really pleased with our choices and liked the ambience.
We went for the 'penny pizza' promotion, which is quite a good deal. But, one pizza arrived about 15/20 mins after everyone elses, we were charged for an extra pizza on the bill and finally didn't feel that the pizzas were as good as expected (dry, overly sweet toppings, crust lacked chewiness). I've been for drinks before and it's a nice place to sit outside but I wouldn't eat there again.
Lively, youthful bar (we aren't very lively or youthful!) but we enjoyed it anyway!
Had roast on Sunday (14/05/17), never seen a Yorkshire that big. Roasties were really good, came with carrots, green beans, red cabbage & broccoli. Can recommend the chicken & beef. Had also e-mailed to ask for them to show the F1, was all ready to watch when we sat down. Really enjoyed our visit 😀
I booked Racks as it came with good reviews for Sunday Roast which my husband very much enjoyed. Being my first time there I hadn't realised they had big TV screens showing sport but they kindly moved us to the restaurant area.
The downside is that my chicken burger was over-cooked which they happily replaced however this took some time by which time my husband had finished eating. Though this wasn't a great experience they remedied the situation as much as they could by not charging for the meal, providing my burger in a take-away box and giving a 10% discount on the drinks.
We visited Racks for Sunday lunch on a trip to Bristol to see my daughter for her birthday. The food was lovely and the service was quick and friendly. Really good that a full menu was available alongside the Sunday Roast - half of us ordered roasts which were really tasty and the others ordered fish pie, fish and chips and burger which were also lovely. Will definitely return next time I'm in Bristol.
Service was excellent. The food was delicious but be careful when ordering. Some dishes say fries, risotto but there was no carbs with the pheasant so some fries were ordered when we saw our dinner arrive , they arrived quickly after.
Great offers each day noted on menu. We had a glass of prosecco which was reasonably priced at £2.50, good choice of beers with little tastes offered before choosing.
I would return.
It was a nice place to eat and meet a friend for lunch. Comfortable and easy to talk. Good steak.
Not a lot ,or maybe it was none , salad options.
Didn't appreciated 10% being added to the bill routinely.
The table was booked for 7.30pm. When we arrived a party had just started and the noise from this was horrific. We were not warned about the party before booking.
I ordered the roast beef which came out cold. I had to send it back. A new roast was sent out warmed but clearly it was not fresh but had been kept warm from the afternoon.
The waitresses were clearly busy and we had to get up and pay at the bar.
What a disappointment. Everything I ordered they'd run out of, and also some that my friends did too, even including the drink!! No pre-empt to this before choosing either so even more annoying to waste time . Main meal luke warm, veg undercooked. Service polite but incredibly slow, had to remind them we were there twice even though place was nearly empty. Took 3 hours to have a 2 course meal. Worst experience in a long time which is a shame as had read good things. Wasnt even offered a reduction or goodwill even though the waitress repeatedly acknowledged we had a bad lot! Very poor so can't recommend.
It's taken me a couple of years to go to Rack's Bar & Kitchen and from my experience, I regret not having been before!
Felt welcomed by the lovely, upbeat and happy staff. We had a reserved table and were seated quickly. Service was very prompt. We ordered three roast lambs and a steak with chips. Everyone was pleased with their meals...the food was wonderful. Only thing was (which was kind of good and bad), the portions of the mains were so nice and filling, that none of us could fit in dessert! So would definitely go back with an emptier stomach next time :)
We have eaten at Racks before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Great food and service
AMAZING AS ALWAYS! Very very impressed! Will be back again next week :)
Poor service and poor food. Would not recommend. Only good thing about this place is the location.
I had not visited Racks for a few years and was pleasantly surprised that the bar and restaurant part were quite busy considering it was a Tuesday night. We had booked and were happy with the position of our table. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We had fajitas and they were very good. The atmosphere was also good, relaxed but buzzy.
Fantastic food. Sunday roast so tasty. ESP the cheesy cauliflower mm. Service excellent and staff so friendly. Will b back
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. My wife and I had the roast beef. Good quality meat, plenty of veg and a large Yorkshire pudding. We shared the brownie for pudding as we were stuffed 👌
Busy venue inside and out. Big range of beers and gins, and best nachos this side of the Atlantic. However, the steak was underdone and the fish tasteless and with poor batter.
Will definitely go there again. Excellent value and very pleasant surroundings.
I was extremely impressed with the level of service we received on our recent visit. We found the whole process very enjoyable, when we arrived, we were greeted by the staff who informed us they had already prepared our table. They brought our drinks to our table, the food followed shortly and when we were ready to pay the guy at the bar asked us how our meal was and participated in a little chitchat while I payed the bill. I have not experienced such fantastic service in a long time. Well done!
Went for lunch using a tastecard. Delicious food and the staff were great too. Would definitely come back again.
When we arrived we were told that a limited menu was available (due to work going on in the kitchen) but that Sunday Lunch was available as usual. However, this Sundays meal was a completely different experience to one that I had in March in Mar in Racks...the yorkshire was still great but the meat was tough, the roast potatoes hard and the veg tasteless. Realy disappointing.
We might have just caught them on a bad day
Lovely sunday lunch for my daughters birthday, would recommend and will return. Thank you
We turned up half an hour early but this was not a problem. The service was excellent - the staff were very friendly and organised and informative. The food was superb and the atmosphere relaxed - at the end, after paying, we were shown a comfortable sofa and a big television and it was suggested we could watch some of the six nations rugby from Rome. So we did.
Friendly staff, service was really quick and everyone made sure we had everything we needed at all times.
We had (a bold statement here) the best Sunday roast I've had in years Last week. We are forever looking for a good roast and have tried many that come in the top ten lists on google but this was truly fab.
Piping hot and clearly fresh ingredients with a true home made taste. The cauliflower cheese had a great sauce and the gravy was delicious.
An added bonus is the cost, in comparison to your wellKl known roast favourites you probably pay approx half the price!
Thanks, we'll be back soon.
We went to Racks on our Taste Card on a Monday evening and the whole experience was fantastic! This is the third time we have been (first time with the Taste Card) and it is always such a great experience. The service is a little slow, and things like drinks/sauces/extra cutlery sometimes get forgotten, but overall the staff are attentive, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is warm and has a buzz!
Racks Bar and Kitchen is an extremely noisy pub. Our table was situated in a large alcove, and we were surrounded by a crowd of twenty-odd people, all standing around and shouting their heads off when we arrived. Conversation was all but impossible. The food and service were both great, but we won't be going back.
We went to Racks for dinner on a Sunday evening in September, around 6pm. On arrival we were seated relatively quickly at our reserved table. One of our party arrived a little late, but the staff were accommodating and said that it was fine for us to wait to order. When we did order the food it was still quiet in the restaurant, and one of the waitresses had told us that the food should not take too long as there were only about 2 tickets in the kitchen. How wrong she was! We had to wait 45 minutes for the food, during which time no member of staff was seen in the area near our table to ask about where it was, and no one came to apologise. 3 of the 5 dishes were then served, but we had to wait another few minutes for the 4th. Unfortunately, the most irritating part of the service was that the 5th dish was brought out a whole 10 minutes later. The staff offered an apology, but only after we highlighted the wait. When the bill was brought, we again mentioned the poor service (very slow and lack of coordinated delivery) but we were just given a half-hearted "sorry". Despite all this, the food was actually excellent. Such a shame that the service did not match up.
Me and my boyfriend went for a Sunday roast and not only did it take a long time to come out of the kitchen when it did arrive the food was cold, chewy and very much below standards. The meat was very fatty, potatoes under cooked and not crispy roast potatoes and the veg had no taste whatsoever. Extremely disappointing! We have eaten here before and have enjoyed previous meals so this wont stop us visiting again - just not for a roast!
The saving grace was our waitress, she did a fantastic job and had outstanding customer service.
Excellent value for money with a huge selection of old favourites and new selections, Racks never disappoints. Having tried the value burger offer in the week I took the family for a Sunday lunch, we didn't all do the roastie but all loved our food and the dessert was massive! Great ambiance and friendly staff too.
Fantastic food and friendly service, shame they had a dance group practicing for an upcoming show as without that would have been perfect!
Starter was inedible and had to send it back. Chicken did not taste normal and felt that it had been microwaved. Main was awful forgot parts of the meal that we ordered and burger was pink when asked for well done. The table we were given was horrible and in the middle of sports fans who were loud and overbearing shouting at a tv screen. Table was not set up on our arrival and when we complained about the whole experience we were told its a sports bar so we should just accept it. They don't advertise themselves as a sports bar we were expecting a much a more rom tic experience. Never return again and a total waste of money.
1st time there steak was excellent this time steaks taste of burnt and 2nd steak was over cooked because I was pay 50% I did not send back for 2nd time burgers are amazing but my son had fiestas and was only give 4 wrap asked for some more and was told we had to pay 50p each. The offers on Monday and Wednesday are excellent but would not pay full price thanks
Went here for an evening meal. No trouble when booking it however when we arrived we seemed to be the only people there for food and there was a big function on in the room next door (of which the door was open), blaring out music very loudly. The food was ok, but the atmosphere was not good!
I am a regular customer of Clifton Racks and without a shadow of doubt I can say that it's my favorite local pub/ bar. Staff is always nice, quick & efficient, food is lovely and they've got some amazing offers too (2-4-1 burgers, pies etc). And of course they Sunday Roast is delicious too. I highly recommend Clifton Racks for everyone who lives nearby or is going to visit this part of town.
Good pies, good location, and cute venue. I'd recommend any one to go for eats here.
We went for the 2 for Monday burger deal and it did not disappoint. Will be back there soon.
Overall very nice evening. Nicely decorated and good mix of modern and traditional. Food was very nice but would have been a bit pricey if it hadn't have been for a 50% off voucher we had. Maybe for a special occasion rather than a random meal out. Food was amazing and service was great. Would definitely recommend it. Bar area seemed nice so may come again to check that out next time.
