Excellent service and food. Would recommend to dine there.
First time back having moved home a few years back, and it is still outstanding. This was evidenced by the popularity on a Wednesday evening.
Quality food, friendly service and reasonable prices.
Recommend booking a table!
Indian street food done well. Would make it a regular stop if only we lived in Birmingham.
Lovely food, excellent service. Would definitely recommend.
Great food excellent staff
Had a lovely meal with a surprise ice cream for the birthday boy !
Excellent food, as always. Waiter, again, as always, very friendly and smiley, attentive but not overly so. Good to be greeted with recognition.
Offering a welcome variety from the standard balti houses with some exceptional flavours. Love the menu, and the very tasty meal.
Food is top class, visited with my daughter, had king prawn starter, absolutely wonderful, then korma thali meal, the thali meals are so delicious, service is excellent, been twice before & will definitely be coming back, keep up the good work!
Better if beer was on draught. And if it catered for young children. Perfect for adults though
Went for moms bday . We all had starters mains rice breads drinks and desserts. All food was very creative with a lot of different wonderful spices . Very tasty . There was 4 of us. Worked out £20 a head which was very reasonable for what we had. Well worth a visit. A big thumbs up to raja monkey!!!
Fantastic food and great service. Great thali very enjoyable
Not happy with the taste. Its not authentic as it claimed to be. Had Rajasthsni thali but tastes like bangladeshi food which was a major disappointment. Would'nt recommend to a true indian food lover. Also drinks choices are very limited.
The thalis are amazing, staff great, very clean, and they deliver as well. Definitely my new favourite curry house
Great menu and choice of different Indian dishes. Love the starters
Unique and great menu - different to your average balti place
Visited here for the first time. It was my birthday and it was a Tuesday night, but you would not have thought it! The place was busy and everything about it was class. The food was excellent the thali dishes were amazing. Already recommended this place and looking at booking again!
Great place, excellent service and delicious food. Have been three times now; and still always happy with what we get. This was new year's eve - a relaxed and happy experience.
My only downside to this restaurant was that it was quite expensive for what it was.
I have been to much better restaurants with a lot less to pay.
Down fron Cumbria, visting Birmingham for the Good Food show, this is our new 'must visit' came here last year and couldn't wait to return. Fabulous food, amazing staff, great atmosphere, a real find. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and very friendly staff that can’t do enough for you.
We go regularly and never have been disappointed.
I'd heard wonderful things about Raja Monkey, and I wasn't let down. I went with 2 friends for a mid week catch up. The restaurant itself is quite small so I'd recommend booking in advance as not to be disappointed. The menu isn't extensive but authentic and it's wonderful to see tasty alternatives to the usual curry house fare.
The dishes are made with good quality ingredients and the balance of flavours (in my fish thali) was sublime. The staff are very friendly, entertaining and look after you well, without being too imposing. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking to peer into the world of traditional Indian food. Enjoy...we did!
Have been using Raja Monkey since it opened fantastic street food
Four of us ate Thali meals at the Raja Monkey recently for the first time and we were not disappointed. The Rajasthani Thali (mutton) was excellent, deliciously rich and moorish. The server discussed the spicyness of the chicken Thali, ordered by my husband, and adjusted the intensity upwards to his taste. What we liked about the server was his attention to giving us food that we would enjoy. Cobra beer and rosé wine accompanied the meal, the choice of wine was a little too sweet and in hindsight we should have asked to see the bottle before ordering. However, it was very much our error. The service was good and with an added bonus of a 10% reduction thanks to having a solarcard, the meal including papadoms and coffee cost around £73 which we felt more than reasonable. We have no hesitation in recommending the Raja Monkey for the quality of food and service.
I was very much looking forward to trying Raja Monkey as had come highly recommended by my brother , in particular the mutton Thali (a dish with a number of small components - curry, rice, naan, veg of the day side, tomato salad )
The popadoms were lovely. Best part of meal. The popadom accompaniments less so.
The waiter asked if we had any allergies but seemed very inflexible in switching out the 'vegetable' dish , which was actually paneer cheese. The Thali platter wasn't inexpensive (around £15/£16) so to switch to any other non dairy alternative didn't seem much of an ask. After suggesting I could take it off myself and they wouldn't swap it out he finally agreed to swap for a veg side after a couple of trips to the kitchen.
As a group we found the service incredibly slow (1 hour until we saw any food beyond Popadoms and we were in early) and really lacking . The service is the main reason I won't come back , the food was very average at best, although tasted authentic.
I was glad I tried it after wanting to go for a long time but it's now ticked off the list and I won't return.
Introduced to Raja Monkey by a friend. Very friendly welcome by the staff. Seated immediately in a booth. My only negative was that the menu was a little hard to read and even more so with the low light. Only a small niggle but don't forget your glasses. We started with Poppadoms which were extremely light and crispy. The beast I've tasted with the normal dips. My friend had a starter of Chicken Tikka. Chicken leg served with salad. For main he has madras. I opted for a Thali, a sort of meal on a plate including, chicken korma, rice, dhal, okra, chapati & salad. We had a drink each which came to £36 but with a £10 off voucher a very reasonable £26. This is certainly not your usual curry house its Indian street food done excellently. The food was all excellent the staff attentive. As the kitchen is towards the front of the restaurant and behind glass you can even watch them prepare the food. All round top place!
Still is the best, always like coming here. Given that I liked it so much I borrowed the logo and had a tattoo done on my leg.but the food is so nice the staff are friendly, a simple menu not with pages of currys just simple. Depends where you sit you can see the guys working away cooking the. Plenty of time between courses no rushing. It was great to come back here after trying currys in the USA but not on a par to here.
But thank you to the raja team another great evening of tasty food
Excellent street food with very different food to main stream Indian restaurants. So great opportunity to try new stuff and go out of your comfort zone and be pleasantly surprised
Good was excellent ,surroundings were stylish and service was discreet yet prompt
Have cities several times. As usual really tasty food, good option size, really nice staff.
Recommend any of the lamb dishes. Meat is so tender!!!! The crepe filled with lamb would make a meal in itself. Nice to have Cobra beer too.
Always a good welcome from the staff, nice relaxing evening with authentic Indian cuisine
I got to lots of Indian restaurants and use this one the most as the food I find to be a cut above anywhere else. Beautifully flavoured food cooked in open plan kitchen in a nicely decorated dining area. Highly recommended are the mixed fish and mixed chicken starters and both normal and Madras curries are exceptional. Bryan is nice but be warned it comes as a dry dish as tradiation ally served rather than with a sauce so you need to request a vegetable curry to go with it if you like it that way. Can't wait til next visit...my go to Indian restaurant...enjoy.
Great as usual
Fabulous service and delicious food! Would highly recommend the boti kebab!
Great meal and lovely service. So much on the menu looked tempting and everyone enjoyed their food. I am definitely planning to go back soon
Exceptional food with a really different and tasty menu. Head and shoulders above your typical balti place.
Nice place for a lovely evening meal, would recommend to others.
Excellent food, friendly attentive staff, tables were clean and loved the open kitchen
Disappointing overall. A fabulous restaurant when it first opened wonderful range of flavours - excellent service. Has now, despite great decor, diluted down to your average Indian restaurant. A real shame - no longer prepared to make the drive from Worcs.
One of the very best around Birmingham and that is high praise indeed!
Would strongly recommend the starters I had the best bhelpuri this side of Bombay though that left me much too full to do justice to the excellent Rsjasthani Thali ......
Have to come back next week!
