About
Went to Kee Gardens for the light show on Christmas Eve and thought we’d stay local for dinner. Had a confirmed 9 PM reservation confirmed via OpenTable went to the restaurant and it was closed. Never received any notification from OpenTable or the restaurant that they would not be open Christmas Eve. Two reservations on Christmas Eve and both of them not honored because the restaurants are closed who would believe it.
We love this restaurant after a day out at the rugby at Twickenham
Fabulous place and delicious food.
Great service.

The best curry in Kew and Richmond. Fresh and delicious curries, always full of flavour. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the place has a nice relaxed vibe.
Great dinner to celebrate my sons A level results.
My daughter isn’t keen on spicy food but she liked the chicken tikka. I had the Durbari bhale which had a great blend of spices and tasted delicious. My son had the Royal Rara which was also excellent.
The portion sizes are very big so you may want to share mains.
Service was good and we’ll definitely be back.
Went to Rara for the first time on Tuesday. We were a party of 4 and had the dumpling starters, vegetable curry, overnight lamb and the coconut cream king prawns. Truely delicious food, restaurant was quite as it was a weeknight. Waitress was attentive and all our food came fast and was hot.
Overall a really good experience and we will surely be back for more.
This is an excellent local restaurant in Kew serving Nepalese food in nice surrondings. It is not a big place so it's best to book. The staff are very nice. I keep returning both for takeaways and to sit in with my family. The food can be spicier than you are expecting. On their menu they have a section called 'Some like it Hot' and they mean it. We tried Momos for the first time this week - they were a good starter, a kind of spicy dim- sum steamed dumpling. Its a good place if some of your party dont eat meat. Nice Nepalese beer.
Good food and fantastic service from the best waitress we've encountered in years. She was on the ball, ensured that we knew how long our food would be and ensured that we were offered drinks when we needed them.
Another great evening at this local haunt, rapidly becoming our favourite, throughly recommend you make a visit when next in the area
We were greeted in a friendly and efficient manner and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The chicken in Nepalese spices was excellent.
Best curry I’ve had in a long time. Make sure you book, especially on the weekends. Also ask for a table upstairs.
Becoming a regular haunt for us we enjoy the food so much, the new waitress worked particularly hard t please all guest and was always polite. Will be going again soon.
Made a late booking on toptable in fact 45 mins before we arrived and we were seated in a very busy restaurant - it was Friday nightafter all. Food was excellent, atmosphere was noisy but that's because it was a Friday and late (8.30/9pm). Would go back again.
Wonderful food, attentive staff. We preferred the ambience upstairs.
Good food, good service, nice ambience, willed finitely be going back soon
Best Indian meal we have had. Lovely restaurant and great service
Great find in our locality great food (spicy which we love) pleasant staff and good service, will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed our experience at Rara. The service was very attentive, they were willing to adapt a few dishes for vegetarian eating and for non-dairy, and the food was very authentic and delicious. The only complaint would be that our friends from the States were not used to the degree of spiciness, and so were unable to finish several of their dishes. But if you're looking for authentic Nepalese food at a reasonable price in a lovely neighborhood 5 minutes from the Kew Gardens Tube station, I would recommend it!
Have been here with the family a few times and would definitely rate this food wise as being a cut above above the usual 'local' curry offering and would be happy to recommend.
fantastic surprise! Great staff and wonderful food.
Had a wonderful meal at Rara with a group of friends. The food was excellent and seemed very fresh. Would highly recommend.
Very nice restaurant, good tasty food (not oily and they use olive oil), nice waiters and a comfortable and nice decorative atmosphere. The food is quite spicy so beware of ordering the hotter dishes if you're not keen on anything more than a medium spice.
Late night meal (later than planned) but very accommodating and helpful staff and very tasty food. It was unusually quiet for a Saturday but all good none the less.
Great food and wonderful service . Will definitely be coming here again.
The food was amazing, especially the butter chicken
This was a lovely restaurant - prompt and polite service- good value for money and good location. Definitely want to return soon.
Very very tasty food fantastic flavours and unusual things on the menu as well as the expected
We had a great meal at this restaurant. It was recommended on Trip Advisor and the food was excellent.
Good food and service. They tried hard to accommodate a party of nine and did well.
Superb food and friendly service
The food was outstanding and very good value for the price, we had great time thank you.
I've been several times and always very well received by the staff - very friendly. Food is of a pretty high standard without the wow factor. I have had some superb meals but you know you are always going to get a good standard at least. Very reliable.
This is a great little restaurant. The menu is varied and the food is truly delicious. Worlds apart from the regular Indian offer. A very special treat and it is consistently good. I wouldn't imagine going anywhere else. A little lacking on the ambience side though. The downstairs area is rather bleak and uninviting. Best to get a table upstairs if you can.
So we met friends here as was halfway for both of us and our first visit here. Food was fine but sadly didn't get offered desserts or coffee and place lacked atmosphere. We had previously met and ate in Q Verde just a few doors up that ticked all the boxes so next time we meet we would rather go there.
We haven't been to Rara for a while and the three of us were delighted to find it was still as good as we remembered. Courteous and smiley staff. Nibbles and water with ice and lemon arrived immediately. Starters, mains and ice-cream for afters were all delicious and were attractively served. The house white was good too. Very pleasant evening.
We booked to eat here after a long day at Kew Gardens.
It is perfectly situated .
The food was delicious and the waiter very pleasant
A lovely relaxing end to a great day
The restaurant was well laid out, the general ambiance was pleasant, and the food was really good. They had things on the menu that I've not tried before and the dish I had (something Nepalese, I don't remember the name) was very pleasant. My date said her rogan josh was excellent too.
Food was delightful - good options for vegetarians.
It seemed a little quiet so was not much in terms of ambience and the waiter needed to be asked a few times to come over - not overly attentive.
However in terms of food and value of money I would recommend a visit especially for the area!
I've been to the restaurant a couple of times with groups of 6-10 and once with a friend. We were always very impressed with the quality of the food. Curries are much lighter than in many similar restaurants yet they have perfect flavour and they are not bland at all. There's a very good choice of starters and mains on the menu. It is a friendly service and waiters are happy to advise on food and drinks. The place is also very clean. Prices are very reasonable especially for the area.
Traffic hold ups so was slightly late for the table. The manager was till very welcoming and had the best table in the restaurant waiting for us. We were starving and the speedy arrival of a salad plate and superb popadoms was really appreciated. Ordering was swift and drinks came quickly. Ordered my favourite Saag Gosht (lamb with spinach) and my friend had the tandoori chicken but really spicy hot. Everything was perfectly cooked and presentation was good too. I saved some space for their pistachio kulfi ice-cream which was delicious and the neighbouring table looked on with envy. So they ordered some too. A lovely evening and having drank one coca-cola, water and a beer the bill was £40 which for the cuisine and healthy portions was very fair. Delicious. definitely recommended.
