If the words 'vegetarian' and 'banquet' have never appeared in one sentence for you, then you haven't yet tried Rasa W1. The menu features only authentic cuisine from Kerala on India's spice-rich Malabar Coast, served on a huge, fresh banana leaf. If you have the adventurous spirit, try the Kerala Feast, an exquisite mix of flavours and textures from across the menu - the chefs are happy to include any dishes that you fancy. A favourite from the a la carte menu is moru kachiathu, sweet mangos and green bananas cooked in yoghurt with green chillies, ginger, and fresh curry leaves. The pickles and chutneys alone are almost worth the trip. Shortish, wide-ranging wine list. Plush surroundings and welcoming service add to the pleasures of the meal.

I have been before though not for a long time and love the food so invited a friend to join me - good place to eat with vegetarians as there is a fair choice of dishes.

Very authentic and delicious food! Friendly waiters, nice interior. I can highly recommend the dosa and the vegetarian mango and plantain curry to accompany some of the other spicy dishes. This is my go to Indian restaurant in London!!

I remembered Rasa from many years ago - when it was a new, high end, unusual Indian vegetarian restaurant with its own cookbook (which I still use). Today it is less new, less high end, no longer vegetarian. But though the cheffy presentation is gone, the food is still excellent, and the staff are still very friendly. Better still, it is a lot less expensive than it used to be. We ordered a "vegetarian feast" and a "non-vegetarian feast" at £25 each and it was far more food than we could ever eat. If your appetites are moderate sharing one of these would be just fine.

Bland and stodgy, the appetisers are all too similar and overall the spicing lacked finesse. Not the Rasa I remember. The masala dosa lacked that fermented sourness and the sambal was bitter and otherwise forgettable. Overall a disappointment.

We went there for dinner wanting to try south Indian cuisine and was absolutely delighted with the non vegetarian feast. It is really a feast as there was so much left overs and service was fantastic. Would definitely visit again.

This was a special evening for us and we wanted to sample South Indian food which we like a lot and don't find easy to locate. Service was great and friendly , we were given a lovely table and food was too plentiful! and delicious. We will go there again...again...I hope.

Good curry with good service. Would not hesitate to go back, but equally a little more expensive than I would have expected - that might be my problem given it is in the heart of the West End.

My lamb curry which was advertised as containing tender pieces of lamb was certainly reasonably tasty but contained almost unchewable lamb which was pretty well too much hard work to eat.

We ordered a starter and two dosas. To our astonishment, it took an hour for the first plate of food to arrive. Strangely this was one of the mains. We tucked away being hungry. It took another 15 mins for the next main to arrive. With both mains, we waited nearly another 10 mins for the starter to arrive (at this point well beyond an hour). to add to it all, the food was greasy and cold. Horrible experience.

It is a decent option in Center although I think they seriously have to step up their game, given the competition. Rasa chain used to be so good in the past but they went down in quality and service over the years. Food is decent, although some of the fried starters definitely did not look freshly made on the spot. Dosas tasted nice. The place also need an update. If it is busy, it gets cramped and service struggles to keep up.

Went to this superbly located (just off Oxford St) restaurant with a friend. Both of us are very familiar with Indian food but Rasa's is South Indian (different from North Indian which you usually get in London) and surpasses anything available in that price range in any Indian restuarant. The waiter warned us that one dish would be a little cold (yoghurt added) and a little sweet (mango) in case that's not what we were expecting. Full marks for the warning. All the dishes were delicious. The hand dryer in the (clean) toilets could do with an upgrade.

We are regulars here, where excellent South Indian cooking is outstanding, especially the beet cheera pachardi. A little cramped for some people, but that's part of the atmosphere.

Booked a dinner table for 5 on a Sunday evening which was busier than usual so I'm glad I booked before as the waiting was never-ending when we arrived.
The food was good as always, but I would recommend the vegetarian dishes over the meat/fish ones and would prefer just those on my next visit.
There were just enough waiters for a busy evening, but sometimes it felt like we had to wait too long in between the courses being served.
Overall experience was just good!

The restaurant was cramped ....no space....the food was very expensive and less value for the food provided.....even the portions were too little.....place is a rip off.....and the food isn't that great any south indian cuisine restaurants in hounslow and Wembley and East ham are way better at a fraction of the cost

Other reviews have been positive for Rasa and this one will be also. There are several Indian restaurants available in the Oxford Street area, some very expensive. Not as expensive and, certainly not as pretentious, Rasa, we all thought, hit the mark for value and excellent food. The service was informal, but good. The tastes were outstanding. Next time in London, we will want to eat at Rasa again.

The food was really good and tasty. I am not Indian but it seemed the food was "true and proper Indian". The location is nice and the decor good too but the tables are squeezed together. The service was poor, unfortunately, as it took 45 minutes to get our food.

Put ourselves in the hands of the kitchen and opted for the 'feast' where we were treated to an array of starters, mains and sides without having to worry about making difficult choices from an unfamiliar Keralan menu. What a great decision. The variety of flavored, textures and color spread across the table was a site to behold.

Located in a quite corner just off Oxford Street, this is an Indian worth a visit.

Limited selection as most of the dishes were chicken. I ordered one of the two lamb dishes available. The waiter instructed that the 1st lamb dish was dry and the 2nd contained more fluid. I ordered the 2nd but the dish I received was dry and the lamb pieces over-cooked, dry and tough.
My wife had a chicken dish but again too dry and the chicken pieces shrunken from over-cooking.
Their equialvent of garlic naan was the only saying grace of the meal...delicious.
Avoid unless you like expensive overcooked food and are too lazy to walk down to your local Indian take-away.
