Small but quality menu. Food very tasty and reasonably priced. Would recommend.
Rasa always has amazing food that is full of flavour - with the best parathas in town. A perfect place to take guests or to just meet up with friends. One of my favourite restaurants.
Wonderful flavors, will go there again when back in London
When I first ate at the vegetarian Rasa years ago, and then at the fish Rasa more recently, they were revelations... a South Indian cuisine that did interesting things with unfamiliar ingredients. This Rasa, on the other hand, is not especially regional or especially original. Where are the vegetables: the okra, the aubergine, the greens? Why do we have boneless white meat chicken (ie the dry, tasteless part), tough lamb, and so on (though the fish wasn't bad). And why can't they offer a decent selection of lagers?
Yummy Keralan cuisine. Plenty of vegetarian options. Basic decor but this doesn’t matter as the food is excellent!
I enjoyed the food at Rasa W1, but the service was very poor - our food came hours late, with no explanation as to why or any attention paid to us in the interim.
Rasa was one of my favourite restaurants when I lived in London 18 years ago. I'm delighted it is still in business and the standard remains exceptional. What a pleasure! Thankyou.
Food was amazing, came out fast, good price and very nice restaurant
All my friends had a wonderful lunch experience. Thoroughly recommend other family and friends to try out this awesome restaurant.
Food was really delicious. Service was fast and efficient.
Went with a friend visiting and it was great we could hear each other. We enjoyed our meal and the service was friendly and attentive. Would love to be more adventurous with the menu next time!
Family dinner, great service and delicious food!
Food was good and arrived promptly. Service was very friendly y
As I am from Kerala, the food is just brilliant. Don’t miss having the Aapam with the Mutton.
I have been before though not for a long time and love the food so invited a friend to join me - good place to eat with vegetarians as there is a fair choice of dishes.
Very authentic and delicious food! Friendly waiters, nice interior. I can highly recommend the dosa and the vegetarian mango and plantain curry to accompany some of the other spicy dishes. This is my go to Indian restaurant in London!!
Great food and great service. I will definitely go there again!
I remembered Rasa from many years ago - when it was a new, high end, unusual Indian vegetarian restaurant with its own cookbook (which I still use). Today it is less new, less high end, no longer vegetarian. But though the cheffy presentation is gone, the food is still excellent, and the staff are still very friendly. Better still, it is a lot less expensive than it used to be. We ordered a "vegetarian feast" and a "non-vegetarian feast" at £25 each and it was far more food than we could ever eat. If your appetites are moderate sharing one of these would be just fine.
The food is fantastic. I really recommend the Fish dish..
Bland and stodgy, the appetisers are all too similar and overall the spicing lacked finesse. Not the Rasa I remember. The masala dosa lacked that fermented sourness and the sambal was bitter and otherwise forgettable. Overall a disappointment.
Enjoyed the food as it can be hard to find Southern Indian cuisine in London (at least I haven’t been able to)
Quality of food very good but still not quiet authentic enough!!
I’ve been going to Rasa for many years and am glad to say the food is just as special as it has always been. Authentic Keralan food and hospitality!
Loved it, delicious food and warm and helpful service.
We’re more used to Rasa Stoke Newington but this was a haven in the west end. Fabulous service. Fabulous food.
We went there for dinner wanting to try south Indian cuisine and was absolutely delighted with the non vegetarian feast. It is really a feast as there was so much left overs and service was fantastic. Would definitely visit again.
This was a special evening for us and we wanted to sample South Indian food which we like a lot and don't find easy to locate. Service was great and friendly , we were given a lovely table and food was too plentiful! and delicious. We will go there again...again...I hope.
Excellent authentic Kerala cuisine in the heart of London,
Authentic & excellent food . Appam was real fluffy and soft .
There special desert “ Banana pancake with banana flavoured ice cream “ was a treat !!
Every time I come to London Rasa W1 is on my dining list. It never fails to live up to expectations and I always leave looking forward to my next time dining there.
Good curry with good service. Would not hesitate to go back, but equally a little more expensive than I would have expected - that might be my problem given it is in the heart of the West End.
Relaxed atmosphere for a catch up with great food.
My lamb curry which was advertised as containing tender pieces of lamb was certainly reasonably tasty but contained almost unchewable lamb which was pretty well too much hard work to eat.
Great food and service. The food here is completely different to any other Indian food.
We ordered a starter and two dosas. To our astonishment, it took an hour for the first plate of food to arrive. Strangely this was one of the mains. We tucked away being hungry. It took another 15 mins for the next main to arrive. With both mains, we waited nearly another 10 mins for the starter to arrive (at this point well beyond an hour). to add to it all, the food was greasy and cold. Horrible experience.
It is a decent option in Center although I think they seriously have to step up their game, given the competition. Rasa chain used to be so good in the past but they went down in quality and service over the years. Food is decent, although some of the fried starters definitely did not look freshly made on the spot. Dosas tasted nice. The place also need an update. If it is busy, it gets cramped and service struggles to keep up.
It was a random choice but we were pleased with food and service. All the dishes were authentic and as spicy as we wanted them to be. The waiting staff was patient and attentive, pleasant and knowledgable. Overall experience was very good!
Went to this superbly located (just off Oxford St) restaurant with a friend. Both of us are very familiar with Indian food but Rasa's is South Indian (different from North Indian which you usually get in London) and surpasses anything available in that price range in any Indian restuarant. The waiter warned us that one dish would be a little cold (yoghurt added) and a little sweet (mango) in case that's not what we were expecting. Full marks for the warning. All the dishes were delicious. The hand dryer in the (clean) toilets could do with an upgrade.
We are regulars here, where excellent South Indian cooking is outstanding, especially the beet cheera pachardi. A little cramped for some people, but that's part of the atmosphere.
Booked a dinner table for 5 on a Sunday evening which was busier than usual so I'm glad I booked before as the waiting was never-ending when we arrived.
The food was good as always, but I would recommend the vegetarian dishes over the meat/fish ones and would prefer just those on my next visit.
There were just enough waiters for a busy evening, but sometimes it felt like we had to wait too long in between the courses being served.
Overall experience was just good!
Have been coming to this restaurant for 20 years now. It’s always excellent. It’s quite small but the food makes up for this.
