The food at Rawduck is Mediterranean inspired with a focus on simple seasonal cooking and robust flavours. Like at our Soho restaurant Ducksoup, the menu is market-driven as well as reflecting the flavours we're in the mood to eat. Brunch is big and our extensive brunch menu runs all weekend with the addition of sharing roasts on Sunday.
We take a healthful approach to eating, making all our own ferments, pickles and drinking vinegars in the restaurant and we use ingredients that are essential to a healthier mind and body.
Tuesday - Sunday: 10am - 10:30pm
Hackney Central bus stop is 3 mins away where most Hackney bound buses stop.
The food is just fantastic!! and the service is divine! Really recommend this place!
Poor service and disappointing food. We were ignored by the staff so service was really slow and also received the wrong order. The food isn’t anything special either, overall our experience at Rawduck wasn’t worth the money and wouldn’t go back. We heard other people complain as well, saying the service is notoriously bad.
First visit to Raw Duck and I wasn't disappointed. Lovely restaurant space, nice ambience, really liked the décor in particular the plants and flowers dotted around. We were given a nice welcome and looked after. The small plates were delicious and we enjoyed an unfiltered white wine from Sicily.
Terrible, slow service. Most of drinks menu unavailable at 1pm. Dry, lifeless mains. Couldn’t do a side of potatoes. Left hungry. Shame but this place as dropped off badly.
Great food - service good but a little hit and miss at times hence 4 stars but will dine here again!
Painfully slow service. Orders forgotten. Disappointing as heard good things.
I told the manageress the plates were all drowning in olive oil and that the steak dish was so rare it was practically uncooked, and my date could eat it but i couldn't. i said it would have been appreciated if the waitress had told us that beforehand or we wouldn't have ordered it. I got a limp reply ands that was it. You would have thought she would have offered us a free desert or 10% off but nothing. Bit disappointing. The car wash outside is also really loud and an unfortunate placement so close to this business.
I think they were having a bad day because the food was excellent, but it took almost 1.5 hours to arrive!
When I walked in, I was immediately won over by the lovely candle-lit ambience, plants, and large communal tables. The menu also looked exciting and promising. Unfortunately the food and portions felt a bit off for the type of restaurant we were expecting. For £8-9 a small plate, and around £20 a main, the flavours were average and portions off.
The waiter recommended 4-5 small plates and a main for 2 people. We ordered 2 small plates, pickles and a main. The taramasalata was a nice starter, however the amount of dip we got could've fed an entire table. The fried chicken was delicious and probably our favourite. The lamb steak was delicious too, however it was almost an obscene amount of lamb. We could barely get through half of it. Overall the experience felt a bit off compared to the pricing. For £100+ (incl. wine), we were left a bit disappointed.
We’re very pleasantly surprised
Lovely as always, all those eggs!!! Sadly a bit fo building site that day but otherwise no complaints
My fish was uncooked and cold, remaining dishes were under seasoned and generally bland. Food is completely overpriced.
Food was lovely and priced right, nice venue and location, cocktails and drinks were quite expensive for the portions, service was good if slow whilst waiting for someone to confirm our bill payment.
Came at 11:30am for brunch and they had ran out of avocado already. As a veggie it was a disaster! Ordered the bap which was good, minus the bacon, but got charged full price. Pretty poor service. Lots of staff gazing up at the ceiling. Nice range of drinks tho. Heard great things but would not recommend or return, sadly.
The food is exellent, good natural wine and friendly service at a very reasonable price.
I really like the place.
Food was excellent overall, only issue was Hake was on the bone so very fiddly.
Really nice brunch. Food and service were really nice.
I've been living here for 9 months and I can't believe I just found this place! The food is incredible! They sort of specialize in pickled and fermented things, which I love. They even have their own house kombucha which my nutritionist swears by. I've been twice this week, and will definitely go back.
Great brunch options and really interesting wine list. Service was a bit uneven but the longer we stayed and the more interest we showed the better responses we got. Will definitely be back to drink my way through their back wall!
Communal tables but with just the right amount of space across the table between ourselves and other diners. Lamb with anchovies as main course very good. Mussels very good. Reccommended biodynamic wine which was also great. Would be happy to go again.
I don't like communal seating so luckily the restaurant was not very busy. The food was all very good except for the salted cod. I especially enjoyed the pork belly, cauliflower and sourdough bread. The house wine was disgusting and overpriced.
Great food, service was ok although no one acknowledged me when I arrived for a while, so I had to make the waitress know I was there and she was a little curt.
The food is amazing, however!!
Lovely interior and ambience, super menu, service lacking somewhat. 20 minutes wait for coffees, when a wrong order arrived and I volunteered what I had actually ordered, the waitress informed me that she 'only had two hands'. Our order got misplaced in the kitchen, so everything took a long time, but the food was delicious and overall it's a good spot.
Not good on this occasion (Saturday brunch). But we went there before for a Sunday lunch and the roast was delicious and the service ok. So I guess it just lacks consistency.
Whilst offering a really interesting menu and tasty food, Rawduck was a gigantic waste of money and huge disappointment. We went on a Saturday afternoon, granted a busy time to go but the capability of the team to manage the rush was beyond hilarious. The worst part of the whole experience was the mardy waitress on some kind of power trip to keep people waiting if they even so much as looked like they might be after a drink, purposely delaying taking orders, bringing complete drink orders over, or even bothering to replenish cutlery. The manager, whilst making vague attempts to appease us after we had waited 40 minutes to get anywhere near some food and drinks, did very little to amend the situation or the attitude of the staff.
The drinks were extortionately expensive and made the bill pretty outrageously priced. The food was delicious, but honestly not worth the stress and completely galling to have to hand over cash for such a poor show.
Interesting and innovative menu. The vinegar-based cocktails may be an acquired taste that I have yet to acquire!
Just around the corner from Hackney Empire, so great for pre-theatre meal.
The restaurant was cold inside. All the cooked dishes came to the table rather cold. Some dishes on the menu were not correct, drinks weren’t available from the menu and the wine list when read to us was super unhelpful. A few wines were described as ‘interesting’ .... overall massively disappointed as I’d heard so many great things. Shame. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place
First time at Raw Duck, we were looking for a late lunch after some meetings in the neighbourhood. Food was great, especially the chicken, roasted tomatoes and the ox tail, mainly small plates sharing style but also mains if required. Enjoyed everything, service was great, wine was organic and they were playing the Inkspots on the vinyl player.....what's not to love!
Went to Rawduck on Valentines day and the atmosphere was wonderful! Music was great and the food was amazing!! The Ox Tail from the small plates and Roast Skate from the mains were delightful highlights, and the cheesecake with candied blood orange and pistachio was mind-blowingly good. Will definitely be back and been recommending it to everyone I know!
Really great meal, exciting flavours all round. Staff great as well, very welcoming :)
Fabulous brunch! We arrived a bit early and it was rainy so they let us in....
Outstanding food. Really unusual and altogether special. Nice folks too.
As usual poor service. Had to ask for menu, to be served, for bill and then large service charge added!
This is always the same at Raw Duck.
All the food came at the same time
Very nice restaurant. Fish was really well cooked. Great vegetables too. Service was very friendly. Good housewine.
Could be oh so much better. First impressions on the waiter was poor as he didn’t know what the pork was stuffed with.
Main course of rolled stuffed pork belly had a good taste but was still chewy- not quite slow roasted enough and tough skin with no cracklings. The majority of the new potatoes were under cooked which quite unbelievable.
Wine list is short and over priced
Terrible service - my food arrived 40 minutes later than my friends - they didn't even really apologise.
Service could have been better. Some forgotten orders came late.
Our Opentable booking was for 17:30 on Sun evening but we were advised when we arrived we were advised that the kitchen didn't open until 18:00. We ordered G&Ts whilst we waited which were expensive at £7.50 each plus they came with cucumber rather than lime. Personally I don't think G7T should have cucumber in it so it would have been nicet to have been offered a choice. We ordered from the starters and small plates menu, food was delivered in dribs and drabs. The pickles from the starter menu were delivered at the end of our meal (think this was a mistake) which meant it felt out of sequence. Food was tasty enough but not outstanding. for the price. Would visit again for lunch, not dinner. Would be good for group dining as all communal tables.
Overall a nice to go as a family, because it is spacious enough to put your pram next to you. However there are almost no beeakfast options for pregnant women: all dishes either have raw salmon, bacon, uncooked vegetables, uncooked egg, ...
