Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch
This was our second visit. All the personnel were attentive and courteous. The food was at the optimum temperature, flavorful and presented well. I ordered the Steak Frites. At the risk of being labeled a barbarian, I would suggest a small container of catsup or a house sauce be included for the superlative french fries.
Lastly, our only complaint is : on both of our visits, the room temperature was far cooler than we would have preferred. Otherwise our experience most enjoyable.
I love this place. The food is amazing!! The fact that it’s ran by students makes it fun and interesting. Will definitely go again.
Our server Samantha was a delight. Food was excellent.
Student run restaurant from servers to chef's, so it's only open during the semester. Food was slow to come out, but delicious. The view is lovely and there is a nice selection of wines. The menu changes each semester. It's really a fun experience.
It was our first time and most certainly will not be our last. We celebrated our 31st anniversary the night we went. We were lucky that attendance was low that night and were able to really enjoy the view and take our time with dinner. The staff was wonderful! I have already been talking Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch up to anyone who will listen.
Thank you for a very enoyable evening and experience,
The atmosphere and service was really nice. The grilled cheese sandwich was a bit bland and the wine reduction combined with the tomato gave it an odd texture. Soup was good.
Great food. Great training experience for students. Good environment for conducting business.
As always a great dining experience. The students do a great job in providing service excellence.
I can't wait to come back in September!! The servers were wonderful. Chefs did fabulous. One thing I did notice is that my salmon dish could have been warmer. And the servers would come by and check on us but not always clear empty plates.
I highly recommend RKR! This is a hands on laboratory operation where students learn by doing food, beverage and guest satisfaction. All key components to hospitality! Food and service is impeccable!
There is a very large exquisite wine & beer list! The views are outstanding!
Book a small or large banquet as there are rooms to accommodate!
Eat, drink & have fun while supporting the future leaders of the hospitality industry!
Great food and excellent service!!
Most enjoyable! Service was great. Kudos to the instructors and students who run the restaurant, as they all work hard to provide a great dining experience.
The food was good. High quality ingredients. A little pricey for a school lunch.
Overall experience was great. Students were attentive and food came in a timely manner. We specifically ordered the salmon gnocchi entree to be cooked medium well done but it came out slightly undercooked, and the gnocchi was tough.
This restaurant is a little gem, the food is absolutely fantastic, the service is great, the price is unbeatable, and you get to support a university and its students - couldn't ask for more.
It was really nice, servicer are very professional and well trained, kind of wish that they would give a dessert or something for our anniversary day instead of just a plate with chocolate sauce, but it was really thoughtful.
The ambiance and service was great! They had fixed 3 course meal but each course had a missing item that I guess they had run out of so that was disappointing. The chicken and salmon dishes that were available were just okay, needed more flavor. I love that these are students learning how to move forward in the restaurant business, however I think they need better recipes
I would recommend this restaurant for diner but not for lunch. They had ran out of some of the food for lunch and the brownies for dessert were overly baked and dry.
We try to visit RKR 2-3 times per year. The food is always excellent, the ambience is great, and it is a pleasure to support the students on their educational path.
Great views - lunch was an enjoyable experience
Waitress was patient and attentive to our needs as a group. Food was delicious. Wine and Beer pairings were appropriate. Well done!
We had a very nice evening at Kellog Ranch. Here are the highlights:
Good wine/slow to be served
Excellent salad and dessert/ main entry over cooked
Server kept apologizing because it was his first time. He interrupted several times to check on us. I was surprised there wasn’t a mentor with him to help guide and train. But he tried his best. And we liked him.
I’ve been a restaurant owner for 25 years and I would expect a school to be a little more organized and involved with the students. Also, I had a difficult time making a reservation and yet the restaurant was 1/2 full.
The view was beautiful! I enjoyed watching the kitchen work from the lounge area. The food was exquisite and healthy. The host and servers were friendly and polite. I will definitely make this one of my favorite places.
The restaurant is run by the students of CalPoly Pomona. These are students enrolled in the hospitality degree programs. They were all excellent and the food was great. No tipping but donations are possible. Great experience all around.
Perfect date night spot! I am always pleased when I come to RKR! Honestly, a restaurant perfect for any occasion with the best service, food quality, and price!
Love the atmosphere and view. Food was great. Enjoyed dining there.
Good experience overall
We totally enjoyed our dining experience. The food was very tasty and the waitstaff was friendly and service exceptional. We will definitely be back next semester!
Our group of 10 had lunch in the President’s dining room which made our luncheon more intimate. We all felt we had a great time & the food was great. We’ll be back.
Menu was interesting. Too much use of brussel sprouts on each dish.
We drove from San Jose to see our daughter’s presentation of her senior project “Rose-Colored GIRL” at the Music building.
Great tasty food and excellent Service. Wish they were open everyday.
All of us spent almost an hour to find the place ! First of all, the address provided from google was not correct. Second, the sign is very unclear and confused specially during the night. Third, it actually can’t see the name of the restaurant from outside. But one thing really impressed me is one of the employee whose name is Doranion,( hope I didn’t spell wrong) he was the one I called for direction , but after 40 min he called me and asked where am I, I was walking in the parking lot still looking for the right building and he says he heard my voice and I just saw him cane out of the building and looked for me! Really appreciated of what he has done!
It was a great dining experience and we plan to come back with other friends.
Amazing staff and amazing food and an amazing environment.
This dining experience was a delightful surprise. The entire restaurant is students from Cal Poly Pomona. The food is locally sourced, wines and beers are local and international. The service was polite, personal, professional. The food was really up there with any excellent 5 star or Michelin guide recommendation. I felt the prices were quite reasonable.
Hours are a challenge as it is student run, staff etc. Before you go, check out the website as the restaurant is only open a few days a week, and has very brief meal times. WELL WORTH A VISIT
Overall, the experience was fun and was a brand new experience. The appetizer was quite good, however the bacon was a bit weird in a mostly fruit and vegetable salad. The Korean Stew hit all my wants for a entree: spicy, filling, and delicious. My friend and I were a bit weirded out, since we don't go out to eat at more fancy restaurants, but our waitress helped us quite a bit towards removing that awkwardness.
The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was good but not as good as it has been in years past. My sea bass was very good. The barley risotto was a little watery, not creamy like risotto should be. Also the brussels sprout salad was good but the Brussels sprouts needed to be cooked a little more. It was a bit chewy. The flavors in the salad were very good.
RKR is a wonderful opportunity to see CPP's Collins' students at work. They are all so inviting and professional and the food is amazing!
