Food was lovely and staff were friendly it just took a bit too long for the order to be taken and bill to arrive but if we had more time other than a lunch break it would have been fine
Wonderful host & staff, quirky cocktails, fantastic ambience. Dined here for the second time (group of 5), we had a set menu option as well which was pretty good. Will be back!
Michael and John in the restaurant were very attentive and provided a great service.
We were party of 7, table location was good. Fantastic steaks & starters. Superb Ambience, could hear everyone, so not too loud. Though waiter could benefit from some training (weekend service tend to be more professional). Will be back!
McQueens is one of my favourite haunts, luv coming here. Was here for a birthday dinner. The team accommodated a last minute addition to dinner.
Great food, disappointing they’d changed the champagne vendor ;(
Great service from the team who looked after us at dinner.
Will be back again.
Lovely place but many things weren’t on the menu which was a shame
I should go there more often as it is only around the corner from where I live.
The bar next door can be a bit noisy when the door it open.
Very good food though.
Service could be better
My first time dining here plus two other guests in the early noon on a weekend. Portions were tiny, ordered the American pancakes with bacon. Our food came out stone cold had to send them back. Came back lukewarm on the verge of getting cold but to avoid looking like a nuisance just ate it, we were so hungry!
It tasted really good to be fair unlike other places were the pancakes feel like they cleaning your teeth due to baking soda over load, these were great. Would have been nice if pancakes and bacon were warm and if you were given a little more too along with the maple syrup to drizzle yourself.
Staff were great and attentive, it was rather quiet only 6 tables occupied in the hour that we were there.
Overall glad to have used the Groupon brunch voucher, even with that it's over priced. Increase portions so people don't leave hungry but full and that will justify the price.
The lady who served us was wonderful. Food was not bad . Had the porkchop . Was a bit like pub food. However starter was good...
My second visit to The Gill at McQueen and another amazing meal. Love the setting and the staff and friending and attentive but give you the space to enjoy your meal and evening. Would definitely recommend this and would visit again
Excellent night. Came here to celebrate my 2nd anniversary. The steak is the best I’ve had in London. Up there with STK and Hawksmoor. The dinner seating area is classy snd the staff are welcoming. Definitely wIll visit again!
Food was really good. We tried the set lunch menu. Very reasonable prices as well. I would go there again.
Great staff, food, service.
My wife and myself booked this for out anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it. We shall definitely return.
The restaurant had lost my booking despite me having an Open Table confirmation on my phone. My guest, who arrived before me, was not accommodated at a table but directed to the bar where there was a private networking event going on.
Food and wine were ok so the visit was not a complete disaster.
Had booked to take someone else there the following week, but have since this first experience thought better of it and cancelled and now going elsewhere.
Good food really nicely decorated
Bad wine very bad wine
Unadventurous food on the set menu
The location is amazing and perfect for a first date. The decor is just paragon and well inspired. There's something about wood arrangement that makes a woman let go... Very attentive staff and altogether a very good reason for her to say yes. Thank you!
Food was fantastic, although a bit pricey however the service was quite bad. Took over 25 mins for someone to come over and take the order... also it was a chore to get the attention of a waiter or waitress. I felt for the lady serving us as she was doing her best but I belief management must do better to make more staff available. Finally it took 35 mins between wen I asked for the bill and when I actually got the bill, I had to get up like I was about to leave.
Me and my colleagues really enjoyed our time here. The only drawbacks were the time it took for food to come out, the time it took to get the bill and how quiet it was. The latter is probably due to the fact we did go around 1pm on a weekday! I'd happily visit again but perhaps on the weekend :)
Went to McQueen hoping for a lovely dinner. Food was great (delicious steak) but the vibe was distinctly that of an Essex nightclub wreaking of Lynx. Odd to have a bar, nightclub and restaurant in one venue. Would go again if only a restaurant but the club distinctly bought down the vibe.
Out celebrating my wedding anniversary on a Saturday night, the first person to greet us inside was a 'does-not-smile-at-work' doorman who physically took my wife's wrist, with no introduction as to who he is (maybe he did and I didn't hear him over the club-level dance music emanating from the P.A system), to put a stamp on it.My wrist soon followed.I feel my romance levels already spiking with this atmosphere(!)
Where's the restaurant please?' I ask (Do I need a stamp for a restaurant?). 'Straight on', he says, much like a prison warden would to an inmate.
Straight on was actually the bar but I used one of my primal assets,my eyes,to find it myself.
The restaurant had 2 tables occupied, a party of 8, and a couple sat at a table at the back.We are sat 2 tables along from them. My wife goes to the bathroom as I sit and listen to 'him' talk to 'her' about his mate's heroin addiction and other such wondrous topics (I don't blame McQueen's for their clients, I should add).
The menu has about 8 mains, 4 of which were steak. I didn't fancy steak, which left me with 4 options. If you have ONLY a la carte, a few more options would be nice.
I ordered half a chicken, as I don't like shrimp, I didn't want a tart, and I really didn't want calf liver. While not a culinary philistine, none of those few choices rocked my world.
The food is good, not great, not bad. The potted pig starter arrived just as our amorous neighbours began their 45 minute selfie/Facetime marathon. My chicken was very tasty, which helped in drying the tears I was crying inside.
The girls serving were lovely and friendly, which is where I give good marks. Though when stood around with nothing to do but watch the disappointment on my face, I felt they were questioning this particular life choice of theirs in between bringing out plates.
We left hastily without eating dessert, instead buying a pot of salted caramel in Tesco for the train home.
Food was quite nice but small portions still hungry when we left waitress was new but nice
Express lunch menu is a bit of a hidden gem!
Had the burger and it was great!
Excellent venue, service and food. The portions were particularly small but very delicious, and at the price well worth it.
McQueen has a fabulous decor and a lovely refined atmosphere. The service is first class and the drinks menu is plentiful. The food menu is limited in choice and the portions are small. I found the food to be good quality but without a wow factor. I certainly wouldn't dissuade anyone from visiting but I'm not sure I'd go back, although is easily use the bar again :)
Had a lovely experience at McQueens. Came here for an after work dinner with my best friend, booked the 3 course offer with a bottle of wine included for only £25... For both of us!! Amazing!! Would recommend for a girly catch up or romantic dinner :)
We were very pleasantly surprised. We were a little cautious due to a small percentage of previous negative reviews but we only found what the very positive reviewers had experienced. The quality of the food and service were excellent. We also very much enjoyed the music and the atmosphere in the bar afterwards and had a great evening all round.
The meal was excellent, although the portions were small, and the service was prompt. However, my companion's seat faced a large cinema screen which he found distracting. Worse, the piped music, which started at an acceptable level, became increasingly deafening. The restaurant is extremely dark and one needs to be careful not to trip on steps, or to get lost on the way back from the loo.
The food was good and at £25 for 3 courses for two people with a bottle of wine you can't complain, but when I was asked which wine we would like and I asked what is it, the only answer I got was "Red or White" and despite repeating the question the waitress was unable or not interested in telling me more.
The service continued in the same vain, as it was over eager during the starters (trying to clear plates before we had finished) and then changed to disinterested after the mains (where we had to chase them order deserts).
I should also mention the bizarre fact that it was film night, but because of the way the tables are laid, one of you has your back to the screen.
Despite all of this I would go back, but next time won't order a second bottle of wine at £20
Well I say that without having tried everywhere but I do think you would be hardpushed to find anywhere with worse food than here. The special offer is good on paper however when you arrive to chaos, no idea that you are coming, not table ready for you, the worst battery acid for wine and food costing a grand total of £1 in costs (and it shows) - we ate whatever was edible and left, never to return again.
Lovely place, food was very good would recommend highly, all my work colleagues agreed , only one issue service was quite slow there seemed to be one waitress covering quite a few tables maybe there was a problem this particular evening but I would definitely try restaurant again, And the bar was also very nice would go just for drinks.
Great food, slow service... Makes the express lunch not so express.
We did the 3 courses and bottle of wine for £25 and it was fantastic! The service was excellent, the menu perfect, the food delicious and the price...unbelievable! I recommend it to everyone...but save me a seat!
Four of us had 3 courses and two bottles of wine for just £50. Outstanding value. Nice ambience. Great service.
second time we went to mcqueens. lovely service and ambiance again. food was good. value for money is fantastic! £25 for two people for 3 courses including a bottle wine
Great value for money in an atmospheric surrounding. With the bottle of wine the deal is exceptional. We found the corn fed chicken was the best choice from the set menu, as was the new york cheese cake.
Went for a business lunch on friday and the food was really bad. my starter of salt and pepper squid was piled high but very bland with no seasoning, just deep fried and half a pint of lemon juice poured onto the salad. My main course of a McQueen burger was the smallest burger i have ever seen. Over cooked and the size of a mini baby bell it was the most disappointing burger i have ever been served, and that is quite a statement. This so called restaurant should give up on serving food and stick to drinks and late night parties. It wouldnt have been so bad if it was cheap but the prices were on the high side with the standards of a wetherspoons. Overall very bad and would never return. Only positive was the service of the waitress.
my girlfriend and i had a wonderful dinner at McQueen. The 3 courses and wine was exceptional value. The staff were really lovely, attentive, and their service was spot on. We will definitely be going back
Used the open table offer. Fantastic value. Really lovely starter, main & wine. Just had ice cream for pud. Service was excellent. Had drinks in the bar after. We will definitely go back.
