About Restaurant Story London
At Story the premise is simple; we seek to tell our story through the food we serve.
We opened in April 2013 gaining our first Michelin star only five months after opening.
Inspired by chef Tom Sellers’ culinary career and the history of British food, our dishes are an edible story, each one inspired by a memory. We want to share these memories with you through what you see, smell and taste.
To help achieve this, we select only the freshest seasonal British produce and then pair it with an exclusive wine list featuring small wine producers and select British craft ales sourced locally.

Restaurant Story London Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went for our anniversary and we absolutely loved it. We thought the food was better in every way than the Greenhouse, Manoir, Dinner, Claridges e.t.c. It was really awesome. The menu is unbelievably creative and incredibly tasty. And the whole experience is so much less stuffy and reverential that it's more illustrious counterparts. There's no doubt part of that is due to the fact that Tom Sellers overseeing the kitchen and working the floor, but that means the whole place as a youthful energy and ambition that helps make the experience more dynamic and engaging. But above the food is awesome. The wine pairing was on the money, really top notch and fun as well. In case you can't tell, I thought it was great.
Chef Tom Sellers, his team and the very knowledgable sommeliers will lead diners on a delectable and fascinating culinary experience. The 7~ course menu is a delight. I highly recommend the drinks pairing, which includes an impressive array of wines, cocktails and speciality brewed spirits.
Extraordinary experience. The food was amazing. Wonderful variety of foods, playfully created
and perfectly prepared. Service was professional yet extremely friendly. Courses were brought one after another but pacing was good. One should know that the food selection is limited to the tasting menu. The tasting menu can be paired with wine, with a couple of pairings featuring cocktails and cideror. In lieu of the pairing, one can order from the excellent wine list. The full tasting menu takes about three hours. We really enjoyed our experience at Story.
We went for my birthday. Upon arrival they had given me a happy birthday letter in an envelope with a wax seal. Was sat tucked in a corner away from the other customers which made it even more romantic as i was with my boyfriend. Had a manager as the main waiter, but didn't realise to the end! He was great, very charismatic, attentive and welcoming. Food was great, you wouldn't expect the ingredients to go together but blended in so well! They even gave me a complimentary dessert dish for my birthday. Lots of dishes in the dinner menu, so despite it being small portioned it will eventually fill you up. Staff were quick to react, taking in plates when you're done and serving the next dish. But they never will rush you. Without wine pairings it took us 2.5hrs. Would recommended to anyone celebrating a special occasion with loved one.
The food is delicious, very hard to pick a favourite from the large tasting menu. Highly recommend matching wines as they were so unique and suited the dishes perfectly. The overall feeling of the restaurant was relaxed with beautiful styling. Service was faultless.
We had the most fantastic afternoon at Restaurant Story - the service was fantastic and the food was some of the best we have ever eaten - and we do venture to lots of good restaurants! I would highly recommend eating here on a special occasion - everything about it was perfect.
Service was simply outstanding - all the staff remembered the small details that I mentioned in passing about it being a special meal with my mum. Excellent food - humble but v delicious. It's very good value for money considering how many courses you get. Highly highly recommend, would definitely be back for more. If any of Story staff is reading this, thank you v much for the wonderful time we had!
Dined at Story for our anniversary dinner and was blown away from the start. The concept, the presentation, the service..we could not find a fault. The food was exceptional and the wine/drinks pairing is recommended as it isn't all wines and we tasted some very interesting drinks alongside our meal. I would definitely recommend this place for a special meal.
We'd an amazing meal at Story. Highlights were the roast crayfish, tomato, potato and snail ravioli dishes. All three desserts were superb. One negative has been mentioned here already: we asked to swap out oyster and raw scallop as wife is pregnant. She got a measly bit of celery and a burnt bit of cucumber in their places, respectively. Surely, it wouldn't be too much to swap in two dishes of equal luxury to the originals? Otherwise, absolutely excellent.
Fantastic food and wonderful service. The concept of the 'story' of the dishes was well explained by servers. The only Criticism I have is that there could have been more choice at the budget end of the wine list as this definitely impacts the overall cost of the evening. Prepare to add another £100 minimum in wine at which point the drinks flight/pairings don't seem so unreasonable. I would have liked to have seen a few bottles at around the £30-£40 price mark for those of us that, whilst we appreciate the value for money in the food in regard to a spectacular culinary treat, we are otherwise budget conscious.
Overall a fantastic experience. The building itself is a lovely setting for dinner, unfussy service, & a good wine selection(and an unpretentious sommelier which was refreshing). We enjoyed the 'story' and the chefs meaning behind each dish. All very well thought through and presented beautifully. Some daring combinations and new ideas, id say that chef Tom Sellers is using innovative ideas here and pushing boundaries here as much as you'll find in any London restaurant right now.
This is officially my favourite and best restaurant in London. From entering through the doors; the amazingly creative food, efficient service this has been the best restaurant I have been to in years!
Imaginative food without being too poncy, always asked about the speed of the food being brought out, staff quietly efficient!
10/10 would definitely come back in a few months!!
We had the Set Lunch menu today and had an unforgettable gourmet experience. Amazing creativity with brave and sophisticated courses, friendly and caring service from all the Story team members. A place where we definitely should return for the Full Story dinner menu next time when in London.
This is a huge treat. Really interesting, absolutely delicious food, excellent service with humour, delicious accompanying drinks, cool contemporary room . Couldn't ask for more. A wonderful evening, the most memorable meal for a long time. Many thanks to Tom and his fantastic team.
Low key from the outside, easy to walk past it. Small and intimate inside. The kitchen was visible from the dining area. We had the drinks pairing, which was a mixture of wines and cocktails...the best pairing I've ever had. The food was beautifully placed on stunning dishes. The flavours were intense. The chefs and front of house staff took turns to serve us, all explaining what we were about to eat, even Tom Sellers himself. The beef dripping candle and oysters were particularly exciting; the lamb was to die for, very juicy. I can't even call out one dish as my favourite, it was all amazing. The service was great, the staff were all friendly and chatty. Every time my napkin slipped off my lap, it was picked up and folded by stealth before I even realised it! Wonderful experience, even purchased a signed autobiography of Tom Sellers at £35, and a selfie. Meal came to about £250 per head with drinks.
What a special meal we had! We booked the table for our wedding anniversary and the meal was perfect. We were made to feel so special by the staff - from the note of congratulations when we arrived to the outstanding service delivered by all the waiters. The food was so creative and fantastic we enjoyed every second. Definitely a very special place to go.
Excellent service throughout. Food was innovative and clearly a great attention to detail is put into every bite. Drink pairing was also very interesting. Stand out dishes were the tomato consommé, snail and almond and dill. The paired cocktail for the snail however was not to our taste.
This is not your everyday restaurant, we went to celebrate a special occasion and we felt suitably spoilt to justify the expense
