What Insiders Are Saying
Sea Containers is the very cool-looking restaurant inside the Mondrian Hotel. It’s great for breakfast and lunch meetings, and group dinners.
Nice city venue
Not too pricey
Second time and another fantastic brunch enjoyed.
Food is very good and the bottomless booze is constantly topped up.
We were fully accommodated when we adjed to add extra people to our booking at the last minute which was very much appreciated.
Will certainly return without hesitation.
Food was really good and lots to choose from . Unlimited drinks we never had to ask to be topped up . Our waiter Ben was really efficient and funny !
Excellent service, glass was never empty staff were so friendly and accommodating.
Will definitely come back and will recommend a friend.
Good food but service was super sloppy. No ownership of tables so numerous waiters attended our table, duplicating everything... We were asked if we wanted to make a drinks order just after we'd made one. Same with food. We had a second lot of mains turn up at our table (from the same waiter that gave us our first??) despite our empty plates in front of us. He went away but then we waited another 15 minutes to be cleared. One item in my dish was completely missing, despite it being announced as 'the risotto with chicken' (an option on the menu which is supposed to have a whole chicken breast on top) , no chicken and no apology when we called them out on it.
All round, disappointing. You get better service in much 'lesser' restaurants. Wouldn't recommend.
We attended for tasting menu and bubbly. We didn't get that menu, we ordered the chicken to share. The chicken arrived with blood coming out. I cook regularly and there should never be an appearance of blood in chicken. They took it back but there was no apology, I expected far more from a restaurant of this stature. On a plus side my waiter Emmanuel was very kind and attentive and he really made the experience better after the raw chicken issue.
Amazing food and even better service. Have my table booked again already
The service was inattentive, too Many waiters running around and no one paying attention. We ordered the beef short rib for 2, they described it being 1kg but it was more bone and fat than actual meat. The meat ordered medium, arrived undercooked and lukewarm. They reheated it to overcooked. The side of spinach were so salty they were I edible. The fries too greasy. I had asked for them to accommodate for a side of green leaves salad (off menu but salad was available on the menu I just didn’t want the sweet potato) and they couldn’t do it. I had to keep my arm up 10 minutes to be noticed and get the bill. Never again.
Really good food and exception service (Janis was our waiter and was very attentive!). We had the TimeOut offer which is great value - had all teh dishes from the set menu and a cocktail upstairs (which is a must) and they also have a wine pairing which is very good for an extra £15pp.
Would recommend! They also made a special effort to get us by the window which was just so great!
Too many two people only menu items
Fabulous all round
Always an enjoyable experience at Sea Containers. The restaurant has a great vibe and very relaxing especially for a Sunday although it wasn't very quiet. I will continue to visit and the tasting menu is always a lovely surprise.
We went for a girl's bottomless brunch and it was a classy afternoon compared to others we have been too. The oysters were fresh and our fish pies were tasty. The bottomless prosecco was good value at £18, espeically for such a beautiful setting and cetral location. The staff were friendly and made sure we were always topped up.
Great service, wonderful food and reasonably priced. Thank you
Excellent weekend brunch with great service, we were made to feel very special from the moment we arrived. Lovely surroundings, stylish, modern, clean and bright with great river views. Interesting menu, we went for the bottomless prosecco option and our waiter was very attentive, we didn’t have to ask for refills. Main course portions were slightly on the small side but flavours were excellent and that meant we still had room for a very tasty pudding!
Service was slow at the beginning but the ingredients of the food were fresh and tasty. Apparently they come from Borough Market.
Was on a date with my partner. Ambience is nice so are the views of the Thames. Food fairly basic my burger was a bit salty and the bread was dry
An excellent evening with fantastic food, sophisticated service and wine to dine for; a great start to the weekend. Thank you to everyone at Sea Containers for looking after us so we’ll.
Little disappointed. Service was a little poor. Some waiters good, but others let the experience down. Forgetting, plates, drinks coming at different times, and food not arriving together. Very dark. I could hardly see menu and I’m young! Not great for parents. Food was tasty if not slightly salty. we went for the view but it’s spoiled by this hideous white picket fence outside so you can’t see much of the Thames. Just St. Paul’s. Would recommend but don’t expect anything special
Good views, average food and service
Great food, good service in a gorgeous location. Hard to fault it.
The place is gorgeous was brilliant food.
You have to try the ceviche and the tacos plus all the steaks, they are fabulous and that you will certainly enjoy it very much
Warning re vouchers%
The food was nice but very expensive. We were there to celebrate a birthday and had a voucher from time out that was for £20 off as we knew it would be so.
It was for dinner and lunch. We had a Sunday roast at 3pm but were told the voucher wasn't valid as we ordered off the 'brunch' menu. To me this was not clear and misleading despite mentioning at the reservation we had the voucher.
On arrival the music was loud and thump but they did change this (not that we requested) I presume another diner had.
As always, excellent Sunday afternoon. Our waiter was superb keeping our glasses topped up so we could maximise our time during bottomless prosecco! All in all, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend.
Far to expensive.
£8 for a 1/2 pint bottle of beer!!!
This equates to £16 a pint for a beer that is valued and retailed at £4.5 a pint.
Did not say the size of the beer on the menu.
Food was very good but again over priced for the quantity and quality.
Service was good, however to attentive, over the top.
I really enjoyed my brunch at sea containers the service was exceptional and the restaurant has a brilliant ambience.
Great meal. Thank you for the ‘Happy Anniversary’ plate at the end of the meal :)
Nice welcome by the hostess
The restaurant wasn’t that busy so the service was rapid
Our ‘garçon’ was less happy but was still friendly
The food was delish’, nice size to share
Very enjoyable meal in the restaurant on a Tuesday night.
Food was good and very good wine. However I had booked the offer (£28 for tasting menu incl bubbly) and the menu was only given out after specifically requesting it.
Bottomless brunch was fantastic, they are very generous with the drinks. Food was great but service was impeccable, our waiter Corado was an absolute 10/10.
Bottomless brunch’s seemed a good idea, until drinks took close to 29 minute to arrive, and we had to put orders in multiple times.
Bottomless brunch was amazing, great value, great service will be coming back for sure !
Value for money of this restaurant is one of the worst ever!
Food is decent, but nothing better than a good gastro pub one, and it is extremely expensive. Me and my boyfriend got 2 starters to share (one crab toast and one tacos with ceviche) and 2 fish mains, one dessert and 1 glass of wine each and we ended up spending 85£ pp (luckily 75£ as we had a Timeout discount).
The place is quite cool, but everything else is not worth the price!
Service was lackluster. Several times we had to wait for wine refills as our food cooled down. No warning of how small or large the portions were to anticipate further ordering. Most of the food order (especially the spare ribs) were very underwhelming at such a high cost. Will not return and can not recommend, which is extremely disappointing given we’re staying in the Mondrian Hotel for over a week!
We had a late lunch at the Sea Containers, the staff were welcoming and warm as soon as you stepped through the door. The food was amazing with a great menu on offer to even the fussy eater like myself! THe service was great and they even made me a birthday dessert which was a lovely surprise. Would highly recommend and def will be back.
Everything was okie, just to remind, when getting they before place an order, please tell the waitress about you are booking on open table apps, and you would like to order the set dinner with your apps show and the price, otherwise you will become pay by Ala Carte Menu which cost you more. I am lucky the manager help me to iron up everything. Because this is my first time using the apps. So I would like to say thanks to their services team and Mondrian manager. Thanks.
Oh yup- the service is Awesome!
Great location, great wine. Entrees not up to reputation. Orzo with peas tasted like smashed peas, risotto with tomato was too spicy and deflate taste of risotto lost, cod was bland. Deserts great, service a 3.
Risotto was very disappointing, bland and tepid. Some food had by our party was tasty but overall the experience was underwhelming.
Great early evening dinner on Saturday 13 October. Good table with view outdoors, food was excellent, brilliant sharing plate choices, very tasty and good value. The Macmurray Pinot Noir was the best glass of wine I've had in a long time. Service was spot on, Gonzalo was great fun to chat to but totally professional in keeping our food and drinks on track. A great find for us and we will be back.
