Came here on a Friday night and were able to choose to sit outside. Great atmosphere outside with the exception of the boats on the waterfront partying to loud dance music with club lights. Our server was excellent, as were the oysters and shrimp and scallops risotto. Everything was very fresh and well done with a great drink selection and extensive wine list.
Service was terrible. Our server was absent a majority of meal. Brought out incorrect food several times, then attempted to charge us. Had to ask to order drinks, never even offered another round. Zero cocktail introduction. Just overall extremely disappointing, for a place I had heard so many good things about. Provided the price point we were thoroughly disappointed.
Emmie was awesome. Took great care of us. We had a great time!!
50th Anniversary! Good food, good service (very pleasant and helpful!) Spectacular View of Potomac River!
Beautiful, grwt food, Server Rebecca was great. I loved the food. The desert menu coukd use some updates. The deserts are nit as good as tge entree's.
The food was outstanding! The service was extremely terrible. Would not recommend taking a group of people.
The Sequoia is my absolute favorite place for Sunday Brunch. It it's not too humid, sitting outside near the water, makes for a perfect outing. I take all of my out-of-town visitors to the Sequoia. They all love love love it. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. I can't decide which dish I like the best. Love the made-to-order omelets with crab meat, the freshly prepared crab cakes and the bloody mary bar!
The food was amazing as always, but the service was outstanding. Kudos to our waiter, who was very attentive and even inquired as to if we had a birthday among our party. It happened to be my mother's birthday and he brought out a treat for her. Excellent service!
This is a great Sunday brunch! Great location, incredible food, attentive staff, wow! An incredible selection of foods, typical breakfast foods, crab legs, oysters, clams, shrimp, sushi, paella, pasta station, smoked fish, bloody mary's, mimosas, waffle station, taco station, crab cakes and the desserts!! at least 15 different desserts, all delicious, but you have to try the burnt cream---too die for!
Service was great as usual along with the food. This is one of our favorite brunch spots.
We attended brunch last Sunday, 8/11/19, and had a great time. This is as good as brunch gets in DC, but understand that you'll pay for it: the food, the service, and the view are unbeatable.
The brunch offerings are in a large room with multiple stations: poke, sushi, seafood (shellfish, shrimp, crablegs, ceviche), carving (prime rib), salad, chartucherie or however that is spelled, breads, meats, etc. Drinks are included: mimosas, bellinis, and a bloody mary station as well. Various juices and coffee also come with the meal. The desert stations are incredible: chocolate fountain and cotton candy stations among others.
The new renovations create a crisp, clean 2 story setting. Lots of stairs involved in getting around though from the dining to the brunch bars to the bathrooms. The overhanging lights I think are artsy, not my style but I get it.
The view is unreal, right on the Potomac in Georgetown looking down to Watergate, the Kennedy Center, and Memorial Bridge. We had a sunny, calm Sunday and the river was active with boaters, paddleboarders, and kayakers.
The service was very attentive until about 1200 when the place filled up. At that point, there was a crowd but we could still get what we needed from the server team.
We saw locals and tourists, and dress varied from super casual to the post-church crowd. Amazing how many people spend that amount of money for brunch. It was a treat for us and I'm sure for others. We're fortunate to be able to enjoy it all, and plan to visit again in the future.
I was traveling with my 13 year old daughter and wanted to have a nice dinner in Georgetown on the water. I chose Sequoia because the menu had enough dishes that were less complicated that I was sure she’d find something familiar. Our server Patrick was fantastic. The calamari was excellent. My daughter thought the crab cakes were the best she’d ever had. I got the clam bake. It was ok. The lobster was burned and dry, as were the muscles. But the broth and clams and vegetables were outstanding. The view was wonderful, but the noise from the boats playing music did interfere somewhat with the splendor of the evening (we sat outside). I would definitely return to Sequoia, but I’d sit on the southern side of the terrace away from the central fountain... and I wouldn’t order the clam bake.
Great view and ambient. Highly recommendable for friends and couples; but also for family with children. Really an all-people place. I love the River view .
Service was amazing. Our server, Rebecca, made the experience even better! She had impeccable knowledge of the menu. As a military family, we don’t get the opportunity to have many date nights, with just the hubby and I. We enjoyed every moment, and the food was outstanding. This will not be our last visit.
Dining experience at Sequoia was absolutely phenomenal. The food was great, the view was great, the waiter was absolutely great, friendly and attentive. Overall dining was great
Mother-daughter dinner before the show!
Had a great time. Our server Ellie was fantastic and the view was great on the patio
First Rebecca was our waitress and she was fantastic. Grey Goose martinis for starters, expertly prepared. Appetizer was pate on toast and my date and I share and excellent salad. She had the pot of clams that contained mussels, shrimp, lobster, clams and other delectable seafood...it was cooked to perfection and in and excellent broth. I had the crab-cakes which were full of meat, minimal filler, expertly seasoned and French fries. Cognac and espresso topped off a perfect evening!
Great outdoor patio, good food, poor service. Although we enjoyed the food when it came and timed it perfectly for a great sunset, it seemed as though we had annoyed our waiter who avoided us the whole time.
upscale, quiet, delicious restaurant. We stopped in before a show at the Kennedy center and it was perfect!
First time trying the lunch menu here. They had a good variety from nice summer salads to sandwiches and some heavier entrees. I had the shrimp cocktail as my starter and lobster roll for main. Shrimp cocktail was nice and fresh but the lobster roll could have used more lobster meat...maybe another side besides fries. Didn’t feel like the value was there. However the service was impeccable. Even it was a quiet lunch, servers were always there at the right moment. We had a few different gentlemen servers but all were great and worked well as a team. Overall, it was a good experience.
Very Pleased. Loved our server, Ellie, who made the experience very nice. Visited Sequoia for a pre-Kennedy Center dinner. Hadn't been here inside in several years, though having worked in this office complex in the past, had eaten outside at Happy Hour over the years. Had several private events years ago and they were great but the place needed freshening. It finally received it! New furniture, fixtures make a noticeable difference. Food was served promptly (I had mentioned making a curtain at theater), well presented, and tasty. The deviled eggs were well-presented, boar and veal bolognese was excellent as was the porcini mushroom agnolotti. Seared salmon was simple, and served properly just-right moist, neither under nor over done. The key lime pie was balanced. Try to get a table in Ellie's section. Wonderful server!
Great view, great food, and great service... and great sunset...
The view and weather was perfect. We had a wonderful evening celebrating our friends birthday. My steak was over done so they gave us a dessert and brought out dessert for the birthday girl. Our waiter was very sweet and accommodating.
The specialty drinks were a hit and our server was amazing!
The food and service was great, as usual. But the noise level was terrible and we had to wait 20 minutes even after we made a reservation.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great! The service was wonderful!
Birthday was nice
We got 2 soft drinks, both were not good at all.
Also I mentioned that it was my wife s birthday, they didn’t care
Your wine list is super expensive. When I asked the bartender about the $56 Argentinian wine, she said. "People tell me it tastes good." I asked if it was buttery, fruity, full-bodied, etc. and she said that she didn't know and that no one in the restaurant knew. I asked if I could return it if I didn't like it and she said, she might be able to get management to agree but she did not know. I then ordered a $76 bottle that I knew I liked although I did not want to spend that much. When I told the waiter about the negative experience, he shrugged and suggested I order some more wine in addition to the $76 bottle.
(He obviously wantd a larger tip.) And was arrogant about it. Then he forgot one of my sidedishes. No one at this restaurant seems to care about service. Too bad given that millions were likely spent on the build out. What high-end diner who knows wine wants to have this kind of complete lack of knowledge and complete ignorance as to how ignorant they are?
It was nice dinner with my husband.
Celebrating my 20th anniversary and Sequoia’s didn’t disappoint. Great ambiance and service. Memorable night out.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday here, and the food and service was excellent! Our server, mr. Sergio was very friendly and accommodating, as well as the chef, who went out of his way to greet us.
My friends and I came for brunch on a Saturday and it was nice enough to sit outside. It wasn't too busy or loud, and it was nice to watch everyone walking by, paddle boarding, etc while we were there. We weren't really sure if we wanted to start with the buffet or small plates, so our server took the lead and said he'd start bringing out small plates to start. He kept the food flowing and would get us seconds of specific plates we loved. I really liked that the food and drink was unlimited, and there were multiple bottomless drink options that we could switch between. I will definitely be coming back and have already recommended it to friends!
Wonderful brunch and our server Ellie was the best!
This is my favorite location in DC. Beautiful scenery (inside and out of the restaurant), great service, and fantastic food. I always enjoy visiting this location because of the continued amazing experiences I have here.
The food wasn't great, but outdoor seating and the general ambiance was nice.
Love sequoia. Food is great and always have a great time there. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
We had a great meal with a terrific view. Our waiter was very attentive and offered great recommendations. The cocktails were excellent and the key lime pie was among the best I’ve had. I didn’t love the veal bolognese but all of the other dishes we had were great.
Overall very good food and drinks. We are outside and my biggest complaint is that the plants they've installed outside attract too many bees, which then bombard the tables. Something should be done about that, especially since many people have deadly bee allergies. Service was fast and attentive, and server was knowledgeable of the menu and made good suggestions.
