What a complete and utter disappointing failure. We made reservations for this tea experience a month or so ago, drove almost two hours yesterday to LA and, upon arrival, we were told that there is no tea being offered. I’m not sure how they managed to drop the ball here, but we were completely disappointed to have wasted time, effort and money to experience this. The valet staff were extremely kind, helpful, and apologetic, however, so we appreciated that at least.

Hi Jill, I profusely apologize for the embarrassing last minute uncommunicated closure in August. We are in the midst of an elevated and upgraded afternoon tea experience with a new menu, furniture and equipment. We will be relaunching on Saturday December 23rd and should you decide to give us a chance and visit, please contact me directly at the Biltmore and I will make sure you have a great experience and time. I look forward to hopefully meeting you in person and thanks for your time and consideration. Rick Lang Food & Beverage Director Biltmore LA

Made a Reservation for this weeks prior and was reminded via email of the upcoming event via open table. This is the third party link from Biltmore’s website. I didn’t receive any calls or notification that it would be canceled. Showed up and place was empty. Spoke to front desk and she confirmed it was supposed to happen at 2 (it was past 2 at this point). We left with no explanation and disappointed.

At a seating between the fountain and the piano, we were surrounded by ambiance and quiet energy. Voices of others dropped away and we enjoyed an intimate conversation. The tea and bites of sensational flavors were delicious. The staff was attentive without interference. Best of all, we soaked in the historical, fantastical architecture and decorations of The Biltmore. We were transported to a different place of elegance and inspiration.

Whilst the service was excellent there was a group waiting for a magic show in that was being held in the surrounding area. They were quite loud and were gawking at us during our tea. This was most uncomfortable. Also the pianist barely played. She was late and spent most of the time she was there talking to various wait staff or visiting tables instead of playing the piano which made the ambiance feel a bit pedestrian (only the echoing sounds of voices rather than beautiful music). She also seemed not to have a playlist prepared. Finally the reservations were difficult to make thus I expected a full house for tea service. There were only 3 other tables occupied. It was quite empty. The food was fine. The teapots were very generous which I loved and the servers were phenomenal. I barely touched my teapot as they kept refilling for me and my guest and were very attentive. The atrium is also very beautiful. It has the potential to be an excellent high tea. At the moment though the value for the money falls a bit short.

This was not what was advertised. There was not a traditional afternoon tea. Instead it was a lackluster buffet in a stuffy room with an overwhelming smell of seafood with no ventilation. The Biltmore is not what it use to be and will never regain their high caliber hospitality. Your servers were cussing all around us and visibly upset, stating they were under new management and no one gave them direction. The day was suppose to be held in the ballroom. Had no clean glassware for us. We did not get water for 30 + minutes after being sat. Extremely overpriced. I do not recommend anyone wasting their time or money here.

This year was my first year as a mother. We wanted something special for Mother’s Day and had hoped, (based on the beautiful photos and the $200 pre-paid price tag of afternoon tea), that this was the spot. Sadly it was disappointing and frustrating and ruined the day. There was so much wrong here but I’ll focus on the two major ones. 1. The service. It was non-existent. We had to get up from our table and ask for everything. Water. Beverages. A high chair. The high chair was never given to us, despite asking for two staff members, so I ended up carrying one across the room myself. It felt like I was in a cafeteria. 2. The food. This was not afternoon tea. The food provided bared no resemblance to the advertised images of what we paid for. There was no cake stand for example. It was awful buffet food. Weird stuff like an omelet station. Beyond disappointing.

I am disappointed and embarrassed that I chose this venue and “experience” to celebrate Mother’s Day. Everything about it was a disaster. There was a long line, even with a reservation. We got seated inside, not in the lobby which we were under the impression we reserved. The food was of low quality, and many items such as crab legs ran out. The service was horrendous (staff did not feel trained and many were complaining and fighting with each other out loud), we had to find our own cutlery and wine glasses, and no one cleaned our table before we were seated. I’d like to contact the General Manager about this. Absolutely shameful.

Worst experience we’ve ever had at a restaurant. We went for Mothers Day brunch and the service was horrendous. It was clear they were understaffed and had no idea what they were doing. We waited 40 minutes to be seated, 30 minutes to get napkins, 45 minutes to get orange juice, and we finally got our champagne after dessert because they didnt have glasses. On top of all that, the staff NEVER visited the table, I think because of embarrassment, and we had to find them hiding and flag them down to try to get anything. Lastly, the food was bland and tasted like a $5 Sunday buffet at a retirement home. They charged us $75 + tip ahead of time which was incredibly unfair based on what we got. NEVER AGAIN. I had to apologize to my mom and wife numerous times for this horrible Mothers Day experience.

Made a reservation expecting afternoon tea for Mother’s Day, however we were told on arrival that it was instead a buffet brunch. There was no indication on opentable that this was a brunch, so my party and I were highly disappointed by this since we were expecting a tea service. The brunch itself was awful. Poor quality of food, that was way overpriced for what we got. The service was also poor, as the waitstaff was understaffed and so it took asking at least 3 separate times to get anything that we asked for. Would not recommend and we do not plan on returning.

The Biltmore is a beautiful location to enjoy high tea or lunch. It is breathtaking. I was surprised to have received poor table service during brunch. There was a lot of traffic that day due to the brunch so I understand there being a delay but it was a buffet. The only thing being served was drinks and the occasional removal of plates and silverware. Every time I asked for something to drink, I was told they were out or it would take a very long time to receive our drinks. Many times I had to ask another server for assistance, hoping that would speed things up and it didn't.

We attended the Mother’s Day brunch. The food was okay, and service was terrible. Our server was probably very new. He greeted us for the first time after 20 minutes. Took him 20 minutes to bring mimosas and then we never saw him again. He just disappeared. There was no clear direction on where to get our food and we had to go to the cafe bar to get our drinks. No one came to clear plates until the barista saw that we needed assistance. Awful service.

VERY disappointing: Reservations including FULL payment, tax, and tip were made in advance and confirmed with Mady Romero, Afternoon tea coordinator at The Biltmore Hotel. Also made specific dietary requests which were clearly outlined and confirmed by Mady Romero (in writing). My Mother and I arrived for our Afternoon tea, were seated and told by the server that NONE of our dietary requests were made and there was not a chef available to prepare what was promised. We sat for quite some time in an attempt to rectify the situation. No complementary tea was offered. The manager on site, Angel Martinez, was cordial and contacted "Mady" to discuss the mistake. "Angel" also escorted us to our car to ensure we would not get charged for parking. "Mady" apologized and stated I would get an immediate refund; she stated she would touch base with me the next day. I did NOT hear from her the next day and have NOT yet received my refund. My 92 year old mother has had many challenges lately, this day for Afternoon tea was to uplift her Spirits. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

April 2023 Be careful / they don’t take OpenTable reservations - we made a rez here and when we got there they said since the pandemic they have limited pre set packages prepared and almost couldn’t take us. They only had a list of reservations arranged directly with the hotel (but it was impossible to reach anyone via phone )

This was a nice tea spot. Food was very creative and seemed special. Tea was decent. Our waitress brought out a small cake for my daughter's bday and the pianist played happy birthday while she was receiving it. Service was pretty good overall. My rating is less than five stars because I ordered a vegetarian service (when I made my reservation) and had to wait an incredibly long time to get it; my party was nearly done by the time my sandwiches arrived. Having said that, the staff did give me double the number of sandwiches I would have normally received to make up for it. If you aren't special ordering you would most likely be okay.

Everything went wrong from start to finish. I made arrangements for a special event 2 months ahead of time due to our dietary restrictions and our dietary restrictions were completely ignored with everything coming out without changes, with the manager refusing to say sorry for the mistake. Then when we tried to tip the pianist, she decided to be !slamophob!c and told my friend to change her religion. I would highly advise against staying or dining here.

I told them that I had a peanut/tree nut allergy before and during. They assured me it was allergy free while giving us almond flour macaroons and a pistachio cake. I am glad the menu listed the ingredients or I'd be in the ER! Be prepared to spend $$$: $75 per person, $50 service fee, and $25 parking. The ambiance was nice, but noisy. The piano music helped a little. Good for a one-time experience.

I made a reservation on open table but the restaurant did not have a record of it. Thankfully there was no issue because they had available tables. Service was good and the tea tasted good too. The savory tea snacks were a bit dry which was interesting because the fillings were all pretty good but then the breads seemed a bit stale. Some of the sweet snacks were too sweet like the blush macaron. Otherwise good experience.

Traditional afternoon tea in a gorgeous setting with live piano music, flowing bubbles, lovely tea selection, and friendly, generous, attentive service. The tea was brewed properly (with loose tea in the teapot, unlike a recent Afternoon Tea at The Plaza NY--very disappointing!) and was accompanied by lemon curd and clotted cream, as it should be. Scones, finger sandwiches and sweets all done VERY well, too. Best part was the lovely staff. Perfect setting for treats and catching up. They will be seeing a lot of me.

This is a lovely location for a special occasion tea. I came here with my family after shopping for my daughter's wedding dress in downtown LA. Unlike many other high end tea locations I researched for this outing, the Biltmore's included prosecco along with the tea at no extra charge. They were also very accommodating of dietary restrictions in our party which included working around a nut allergy & a vegetarian. I highly recommend this afternoon treat when you have something special to celebrate or just to pamper yourself!

Location was lovely in the Rendezvous Court! A pianist played and the atmosphere was perfect! The cost was a bit high- but expected. I wish there was a non-alcoholic menu and price- which is standard at most Afternoon Tea locations. Service was excellent but at $65 per person I expected a bit more. For example, there weren't tongs for the sugar cube container and the actual tea flavor was a little boring. Plus, it would have been nice to have been talked through the menu. Hearing the descriptions of what to expect is part of the fun! Tiny things- but the details were missing. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our time!
