North Box cannot be beat for convenience and complete opera experience That said, it is horribly expensive for good but not remarkable food and drink. Service this year is a work in progress as people new to the profession learn their skills. The usher who reminds people of the curtain time has become intrusive. All in all, a pre-opera meal and drinks is more expensive than last year and less of a treat. However, you cannot beat its convenience in a city that becomes more difficult to get around in every week. Tonight, thousands of you g people in city center, power out to traffic signals, not a police person to be seen, multiple street closures and detours. It was s snarl that backed traffic up for miles and added an hour to the commute to the opera both ways. No warning to allow more time from North Box

My friend and I ate at the second floor restaurant before attending the opera and it was so much fun. The food was really excellent as was the service. It was so cool: they had our name on our reservation placard at the table and saved the table for us when we pre-ordered some dessert and beverages for the intermission. It took all the stress out of worrying about getting our order and getting back to our seats in time when our food and drink we’re waiting for us at the table, and we had prepaid so we could just get up and leave when we were done. It was great service and we felt pampered!

My salad was very fresh, in fact, just about perfect. The citrus prawns were a lovely addition and made a perfect light pre-opera meal. I also enjoyed a glass of one of my favorite wines from MurphyGoode.

Incredibly convenient for any show at the War Memorial. You get to enjoy the lovely lobby for more time before a show; and they let you retain the table for intermissions, which is invaluable given how little seating is about in the corridors outside the auditorium.

This is the third time we have eaten at this venue. The previous times I would rate the food as average. This time most of our meals were not satisfactory. The grilled shrimp was over seasoned and dried. The cookies were tasteless and stale. However the service, as always, was great.

From being seated, served beautifully, and the excellent new menu, we had an amazing dinner at the North Box. Thank you to the staff and kitchen. We go the opera for a special, unique experience, and the North Box never fails being a wonderful part of a magical evening.
