Food was good but overpriced; atmosphere lacking and music too loud to have a decent comversation (foggy and nighttime so couldn’t exactly admire the views instead..). Service was poor, staff didn’t know what the tasting menu was, long wait to be asked for dessert order, drinks on our bill we hadn’t ordered. Toilets left something to be desired as well.
Given the profile of the Gherkin and surrounding competitor restaurants they really need to up their game for repeat business.

The view is stunning, we went for the Sunday Brunch to celebrate a birthday. After brunch we went upstairs to the very top for a coffee. The cocktail menu looked very enticing and we will make plans to go back and try a cocktail or two.

The view is the only part worth of note. The food was ok, but the service very bad. We were let to wait because our table wasn't ready, and when we finally sit down we were informed that we were late (which we weren't) and that the kitchen would close shortly (?!). Impossible to find someone to ask for a glass of wine... The music coming from the bar upsatairs was too loud for a restaurant, impossible to talk or discuss. Would not recommend, and should be avoided! There are so many other nice places in London...

DISAPPOINTING AND EXCEPTIONALLY NOISY
A destination venue for a special occasion but the restaurant was so noisy it was impossible to hold a conversation: apparently due to DJ & live saxophonist up in bar. This was surprising as the restaurant advertises itself as ‘intimate’.
Disappointing food; two walnut-sized pieces of lamb as a main course (albeit very tender), tasteless & dull pigs-head terrine.
Amazing venue badly let down by food and ambiance. Sadly not somewhere to return or recommend.

Went to Helix at the Gherkin for an anniversary dinner. Had high expectations based on the photos of the location and the food selection. The lighting of the restaurant was extremely glaring throughout the night and the restaurant was rather loud with conversation (more than expected - possibly due to the shape of the restaurant). We waited almost half an hour to be served after being given menus. Our first choice meal was not available as they had run out, and our second choice came over-cooked despite being told was cooked medium-rare (more medium-well!). The view however was very nice, as expected, after we requested to move to a window seat (which was originally requested in booking 4 weeks in advance but not provided and was instead seated right at the back against the wall). Overall wasn't particularly impressed with the service and food at Helix; do not think the view alone was worth the price point of the restaurant.

I would not recommend the Helix restaurant as the food was just about edible & there was very little of it, the portions were spare & the sides for two persons came in cups!
It is a fabulous building & we keen to be there but ultimately disappointed & left hungry.
London has many amazing restaurants & over the years I have enjoyed most of them & would happily recommend them, not this one.
The service too was indifferent from most of the staff.
The decor of the Helix was extremely pleasing, very calming however the tables were cheap the vibe was such that there were no cloths. However to be seated at a chipped table in what is described as a top class restaurant was laughable.
We will not be returning.

Never again. I can't express how disappointed I was with my experience at Helix. We were there to celebrate my husband's 50th. The whole experience from security (cold mannered people) to waiting staff to food, extremely poor. I won't bore you on the entrie menu, will focus on the main; I had eggs benedict, my husband eggs royale. I had to send mine back because it was cold. On return it was cooked better but the muffin - mine & my husband's - required an incredibly sharp knife to cut through. I just left them. On top of that, the toilet facilities were horrendous. I had to alert the manager to this and suggest to sort as it was just unacceptable. I've been trying to feel positive because it was part of my husband's birthday weekend celebration, but I can't. The outstanding views don't even make up for the dreadful service and food.

We had an e joyable evening. The drinks service was exceptionally slow in the bar and the restaurant. The food service was very quick, meaning we ate half our meal before any wine appeared. The combination of flavours and textures was appetizing and well presented.

We had a fantastic Saturday lunch. Views amazing, especially from the upstairs bar where we had coffee after our meal. Staff lovely and food absolutely delicious. We paid £35 a head for a three-course meal and a glass of prosecco, which I think it outstanding value for this kind of venue. Highly recommend.

Food was lovely, and service of the food was good, however, we had to ask for our drinks to be refilled as we sat with empty glasses and had to ask for our wine as it was left out on the side as they had forgotten who it belonged to! At £40 + a bottle I had no hesitation in reminding them it was ours! Also for a plush place the ladies toilets were not the greatest, could of been cleaner and were a bit tired and cramped. Having said that, the view was glorious and the food was tasty and well cooked and we enjoyed our birthday celebration lunch.

We had dinner here the first night we arrived in London and were looking forward to a fun, unique experience to kick off our four days in the city. Instead, the best we could do was cross this off our list of attractions as "done."
Here are the reasons for my rating:
• The view is nothing unique. As one of our waiters told us, "yeah... it used to be a lot better before they built all these high rises around us." Sure enough, we had a spectacular view of a high rise construction site.
• With an average view, the food and service should stand out. Neither truly did.
• The service was mechanical, missing any sense of charm or personality. We couldn't shake the "turn the tables as fast as possible" vibe.
• Two cocktails, ordered at the same time, were received about 10 minutes apart. A manager noticed me looking around the room for our waiter so I could ask where our second drink was. I let the manager know we hadn't received one cocktail. I watched as he spoke to the waitress who took our order. Still, we waited 10 min. for it to arrive.
• The wine list is fairly extensive, so I asked for some guidance. After describing to the Sommelier (can't confirm if he is one or not) the wine style we enjoy, he replied (while looking over my shoulder at the page I had open) "Mmm, yes, we have a few like that" without mentioning any specific bottle. Awkward pause. I actually had to then say, "ok, what would you recommend?" I'm no wine expert and always enjoy a discussion with, and learning from, a wine captain, Sommelier, etc. In this instance, the experience was no different from buying a bottle of wine in the grocery aisle.
• No real issue with the meal. I ordered lamb, my husband ordered venison. The presentation was nice and we both enjoyed what we ordered.

When I booked this for my Ex Brother in Laws 50th lunch celebration (as he expressed a desire to dine up in The Gherkin) there was no mention at all of the fact that they only serve Brunch on a Sunday, so it was an utter disappointment to be offered only the Brunch Menu instead of a lunch a la Carte at 2pm FFS !

The prix fixe included a mouthful of cheap Prosecco (how proletarian, sigh) as we contemplated the view, which due to the restaurant being limited in size to about 1/5th of the circle only gave us the view to the West which was mostly blocked out by the Gherkins more arrogant newly built cousins, so even that was a let down.

The meal itself consisted of firstly a meagre selection of small croissants, pastries and slices of bread not out place in a M & S Cafe, then saucer sized dishes next, mine was a pathetic Caesar salad (sans Chicken of course, let's not go over board here), & the main choice was a steak bavette on a slice of toast with a paltry single egg (sunny side up no other choice) dropped sadly over the top, like a flag over a military coffin, which is apt as we were never asked as to how our bavette should be cooked so it arrived very dead indeed...

The last dish was in my case a saucer sized portion of Eton Mess, and seriously you can buy better off the shelf in Sainsburys, I mean all this mediocre fare for £ 45 (without service of course) ?!

This is just lazy and ignorant provision of catering aimed at the feckless, more money than sense clientele that would be stupid to dine there more than once, and catching out mugs like us who look for something special now and again.

Suffice to say I cheered myself up later in the day and had one of LEONs exquisite Plant Burgers and Fries for a fraction of the cost but 500% the taste and enjoyment, and frankly you can screw the view !
