We highly recommend a meal at Ellie’s. The smoked trout dip, pork chop and redfish were excellent. While we ate, a talented singer/guitar player filled the air with the sounds of Nora Jones and others. The atmosphere was pleasant with contemporary decor and unusual lighting and murals. Outdoor seating was available if desired.

First, the food and cocktails were very good. And the proximity to the Meyerson and Winspear is why we've dined at Ellie's more than once. The primary complaint is the service. Once we were seated we had to flag someone down after about five minutes to get a drink menu - turns out we happened to flag down our server, so things were now under way, right? But then it was another 20 minutes before our server returned to take our first order. Since we had tickets for a show at the Winspear and it appeared by the dirty tables and slow service that we'd be tight on time, we decided to skip the appetizer and order our cocktails, salads, and main courses all at once. Thankfully the drinks and food arrived at an acceptable pace. Our two-top got a bit crowded with all four plates, though the bigger issue was that I had to ask the server to clear the salad plates after they had sat for about ten minutes. In fact, we spent the second half of our visit next to a six-top full of used dishes, and I was was about to bus our own plates over to that table when our server happened to walk by. The other issue was the live music, which was simply too loud. The lounge/bar area and dining room are an open concept layout, so there's nothing to tamp the sound in the dining area. The PA that the vocal/piano used was about two notches too hot. Both servers and a gent who I assume is the manager had to crouch into their guests' personal space to be heard, and we had a hard time conversing over dinner at our two-top. (Shouldn't this be the litmus test for ALL restaurants booking musicians? Why would anyone want to yell over dinner? We're BOTH professional musicians, not exactly anti-live music codgers.) Thankfully the duo took a break after about an hour so our final twenty minutes were rather peaceful with the house music playing. It's ironic that we decided to not dine outside because we thought the service would be a bit quicker inside... lesson: live music = eat outside, or go elsewhere.

Dined with friend prior to a concert. Server was outstanding and made sure we had a great experience and kept us on time. New menu is awesome! Reasonably priced. Must order the house made focaccia . Excellent music trio that added to the ambience. Very impressed with service and food. Can’t beat the location in the arts district.

Immediately upon arriving the atmosphere sets the expectation high, and the wait staff absolutely delivers incredible service, going above and beyond. The food was scrumptious. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate my 50th with my family.

The dining room is really not conducive or fitting for fine dining. It’s harsh and cold in my opinion and suitable for breakfast or happy hour. I noticed the dining room had cleared out by the end of happy hour as we lingered over one more glass of fabulous Hall wines. The shrimp linguine was superb and the service was stellar thanks to Sydney. Don’t miss happy hour for half price glasses of wine.

A Jazz Brunch at Ellie’s was a great Sunday afternoon for my husband’s birthday! Our reservation was honored with zero wait time, our server was professional, we enjoyed the meal, loved the jazz trio, and the valet staff was top shelf!

Great Sunday brunch! Food and service were great. I had the Benedict Bowl. The band was just perfect w noise level to enjoy the music and still be able to talk. Lovely atmosphere!!

My friend & I have been to Ellie's before for Happy Hour and appetizers. Since we like the atmosphere, we were excited to make reservations for Saturday night in the restaurant. Our experience was highly unsatisfactory. First, I ordered the vegetable risotto and the waitress told me that it was highly tomato-based for a risotto and I would enjoy the linguine much better. I did not want linguine and I inquired if it could be served with penne pasta. She said that it could, and I ordered it. My friend ordered the red snapper. When the waitress brought the entrees, my friend was appalled that it was only a very small portion for the price. My entree was a bowl covered in macaroni noodles. I asked about the penne pasta and the waitress replied that they were out with no prior notice to me, the diner. I told her that I did not want this and requested the risotto instead. My friend asked for a vegetable and ordered broccoli and the waitress brought a bowl of brussels sprouts. My entree did not arrive until much later after my friend was finished with her entree and as our waitress came to take her plate. This was a horrible, expensive experience and we will never return. Ellie's is supposed to be fine dining???? I think not.
