We visit le bouchon on special occasions and whenever we want a family meal in pleasant surroundings
The food was delicious and the service very good. The staff were friendly and attentive
A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Food was very nice, but lunchtime service was poor, didn’t seem to have enough staff on.
We very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch - the best roast beef we've had for years! The service was excellent as was the general atmosphere. Thanks.
Visited for a lunch time meal and picked from the a la carte menu. Each course was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. Pace of delivery was just right and the artisan breads with oil and balsamic were excellent. Nice range of wines and the 'house' wines by the glass are good. Service, though, could be a bit more precise. They forgot the 25% discount offer and no one at front desk to find our coats as we left. But minor points; overall ambience and quality of food were great value for money.
As always beutiful food from a reasonably wide menu. The Sunday lunchtime table magician was absolutely amazing. Great service and well recommended all round.
Always a pleasure to visit from the friendly welcome to splendid service. Food as usual gorgeous.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening as always. Not cheap but would definitely recommend for that special occasion.
Belonging to the IWFS, the International Wine and Food Society, we dine at acclaimed London restaurants. Our recent dining experience at Le Bouchon was certainly worthy of a Micheline rosette. An amuse bouche with the starter drinks would be welcome addition. Many meals fall down on the dessert but that was first rate too.
HAVE VISITED ON A FEW OCCASSIONS AND NEVER BEEN DISSAPPOINTED. FAVOURITE CHOICE FOR SPEIAL OCCASSIONS. LAST VISIT WAS FOR OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.
Early dinner on Saturday evening and we elected for the tasting menu with matching wines. The service was very slow in places, and more disappointingly the food was very ordinary. Matching wines were good, though arrive in a haphazard fashion. We dined at Le Bouchon six months ago (again tasting menu) and was impressed. Needs improvement.
Great food, friendly and professional staff, pleasant ambiance.
Wonderful atmosphere with tasty and home cooked food. Excellent
Once again a superb effort by all the staff at Le Bouchon
Excellent meal for our 29th Anniversary. My wife is a Vegan, although the choice was less than the main menu.
We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. This was the first time we have booked dinner as non-residents. As always we felt that the menu, quality of the food, service and ambience were of the highest standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be returning.
Ok meal but my wife’s starter was missing an element.for which we were credited the bread basket. My Moules were ok but distinctly on the chilly side and were rather chewy. Probably had been kept warm too long.
Mains ok but very small portion of cod for the cost. They were serving pheasant which must be from frozen because it wasn’t in season!
Didn’t bother with pudding .
An ok meal but nothing to get excited about.
Delicious food in great atmosphere. Welcoming and highly efficient staff and a lovely venue for a special occasion with friends. We will definitely be returning to enjoy another evening at La Bouchon!
Good food and attentive, friendly service. We enjoyed a lovely meal and found the ambience just right for a family lunch. Definitely recommend.
First time that I had visited Le Bouchon for Sunday dinner. The food as always was delicious. I had the mackerel followed by the roast pork and cheese. The children menus were just great too.
It was a shame that there was no magician but we made our own entertainment with the help of the very nice Rioja!
Only negative was that we were not able to utilise the 25% off food for the adults.
Food and atmosphere was very nice. Friendly staff. Overall excellent.
Portions appear to be quite small but I always leave pleasantly full. Food is tasty and perfectly cooked. Staff are friendly, polite, and attentive.
Fantastic dishes cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Friendly service. Best upmarket restaurant for miles.
Have eaten here on a number of occasions and have always had good friendly professional service and great food, I have and always recommend to relatives and friends.
Great singer in the bar. Very nice atmosphere and service. Only criticism was the food arrived before my wine.
Visited for my wife's birthday along with our two children (5 & 8). Children were very happy with their menu and ate garlic bread for starter burger/pasta for main followed by ice cream/Eton mess. Between us we had Mackerel, pigeon, duck and chicken and all was cooked to perfection. Sides included triple fried chips which were huge! Good gin menu, cocktails (including non-alcoholic) and long wine list. Service could not have been better and even the children were referred to as "Sir" and "Madame" which made them feel all grown up. Cost was what you expect for this type of dining. We paid £160 for our 3 course meal which included kids drinks, a couple of gin's and couple of non-alcoholic cocktails (no wine). Live singer was very talented both vocally and on keyboard and was perfect for the venue and added to the evening. This is the first time we have been but I don't know why and will definitely return in the future.
Lovely evening celebrating a birthday. The restaurant was very attentive and catered to our request for a romantic table and even made a special birthday presentation for the dessert as a surprise. Great food, wine and cocktails. Definitely will return.
An excellent experience form start to finish. First time there but will definately be returning soon. The food and service were excellent.
5 Star experience.
Lovely lunch it’s always a pleasure to eat at Le Bouchon & afterwards the boat trip to Heybridge Basin was very pleasant
Choice of going straight to our table or bar for a drink first. Chose to go to bar where we were entertained by Sacha a very clever magician. Menu bought to us where we made our choices. Shown to a table with lovely flowers. Delicious meal, I had Roast beef my wife chose chicken. We also had very nice starters and desserts where the chef had piped 'Happy Anniversary' on our plates. A very nice touch. Excellent service too. A very nice Sunday lunch and afternoon.
Lovely restaurant. Service was excellent and beautifully timed. Thoroughly enjoyed the bread plate, fish starter and steak. My husbands main meal, pork, was very tasty but he could have coped with slightly larger portions. All round lovely evening and will definitely visit again.
Many thanks another really good evening, food was your normal very high standard, service excellent.
Well done, see you again soon.
The restaurant and bar are beautifully decorated and a very nice place to eat and drink. I’m vegetarian and the choice selection is really poor. The starter of tomato and cheese was lovely. But the pasta dish for main was tasteless and very disappointing. Why pickle garlic it just tasted of pickle. It needs a sauce to go with the pasta and also you need to offer a larger choice. Also your deserts were very avarage, looked amazing but didn’t not follow through with taste. It’s a shame because the place is lovely.
Very good food excellently presented. Great service too.
We went to La Bouchon for Sunday Lunch. The serving staff were very friendly and welcoming, the speed of service was just right and the meals were well presented and tasty. Our table was very pleasant and the whole ambience and layout of the restaurant ‘gemutlich’ - very comfortable with a nice atmosphere.
We had an extra serving of ‘three vegatables’ to accompany our lunch - bit disappointed that one of the vegatables was potatoes.
Not sure about the magician - didn’t think he added to the occasion.

Really well looked after enjoyed the boat trip and magician food yummmm couldn't find any faults.
Had a lovely boat ride followed by a lovely meal for my mother's birthday. The only thing I would say is the restaurant was very loud and we couldn't hear each other when talking. But food lovely.
Fabulous restaurant, food and service excellent. Great bar for a pre drink, extensive wine list for the connoisseur.
Was hoping for a picturesque location but alas not, great historic building but the sister restaurant Le Benaix beats it if you are looking to have the option of sitting outside on a nice day.
That said we would return to either of the restaurants.
Amazing food and service. Highly recommend
Went to Le Bouchon to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Not the first time we've been, and I'd class each time as excellent. Well, this visit topped our previous experiences although I wouldn't have thought it possible. The food was spectacular, the service extraordinary. It made our day very special.
