Piccola Cucina Osteria - Spring St.
Friendly service with a buzzy atmosphere, all in a typical Italian restaurant setting. It is matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy which is one of the keys to the success of the restaurant.
Great care is taken by the chef in choosing the freshest ingredients according to season.
Other two Piccola cucina locations are:
Piccola cucina Estiatorio ( 75 Thompson street )
Piccola Cucina Enoteca ( 184 Prince Street )
There's a good Italian place everywhere, AND someone will always have something to say, but I truly loved this place. The service was phenomenal (which unfortunately is hard to come by sometimes) and the food was "insert true cliche" AMAZING! So when the big bill came after appetizers, a bottle of wine, two main meals, dessert, dessert wine and a single espresso, I had no qualms or outrage about anything. If you're wanting a cheap meal, don't come. If you want a truly great experience with food that's NOT fussy Italian and Olive Garden "traditional," you come here. Stay for several hours and have amazing food.
For e restaurant rates no 1 on trip advisor this was very disappointing. Spaghetti with seafood has 2 prawns , 4 mussels , some chopped up calamari and the portion of pasta small. Pasta with lamb ragu was heavy and mediocre in taste.
The manager accommodates us with free deserts and a discount on the bill but however good the service was dis not excuse a mediocre meal
We we’re celebrating our 13 years old daughter’s birthday and we had a great time! Wel’ll come back for sure next time we’re in NYC
Food was outstanding, but the restaurant is really small and crowded, but worth the effort.
Fabulous evening here. Service was friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic. Definitely recommend!
I made a reservation for 4 people on a Tuesday night, which I'm positive wasn't during peak season of Piccola Cucina's clientele. That said the restaurant is small and does not seat many customers. While I do recognize there are limits to the amount one can do with the space provided to them, I think for a business that gets as high a rating as it has across the board- it needs to get better at serving its guests appropriately.
This restaurant has several well recieved locations in different parts of the world but is unable to give reliable service to its guests who try to reserve seats at its venue. Bluntly put, if you make a reservation at this restaurant they do not guarantee you a seat at your reserved time. Now given the limited seating (due to the small size of the restaurant) it makes sense that a reservation may not be ready exactly on time but when I saw multiple parties including my own have wait times of 20 minutes or greater- I begin to think it's less about the dining customers at the venue, but the restaurant not trying to accommodate people who have made a reservation.
The restaurant is well known and recieved as a place with amazing food given the price you walk out paying. It has an $11 lunch special and a large local following. It would probably be fine without taking reservations at all. But the big thing here is that Piccola Cucina DOES take reservations and doesn't appear to bat an eye when they have to turn expecting diners away.
This is a tiny gem. The food was exquisite and the service outstanding. Highly recommended.
Excellent, excellent, excellent restaurant. The food, ambiance and service was great!
What a find! On a quiet street on a Monday night, there was a queue on the pavement to get in. I had a reservation and was seated quickly. Their rating at the top of Trip Advisor is warranted. Excellent food, crisp service, and prices that are not eye watering.
Locale molto carino.
Pochi posti a sedere quindi prenotate sempre.
Cibo davvero buono.
Pasta italiana con sughi italiani fatti con prodotti di qualità.
Sensational and 100% authentic Italian. Always a warm welcome and excellent value.
dopo giornate a mangiare americano finalmente un VERO RISTORANTE ITALIANO.... Consigliatissimo e prenotazione necessaria... Ottimi i primi (linguine al branzino e pasta alla norma). dolci eccezionali... conto nella norma x NY
Original Italien food, hand made noodels in best quality and a very good wine.
Have eaten here before and glad I returned! I love their pasta selections and sauces. Bon appetito
Food was spectacular!
Small (intimate), appropriately priced, fantastic atmosphere, excellent service and above all the most amazing food.
Nice dinner while visiting NY
Fabulous meal. Felt like I was in a small Italian restaurant in Tuscany. Food was delicious and interesting. If you like octopus—I would recommend that appetizer.
So good. Even the vege
Food was amazing. Fast and friendly service. Can’t wait to go back.
Everything was great!
Cibo buonissimo e veramente italiano! Porzioni grandi e buon rapporto qualità prezzo.... in due abbiamo speso circa 50€ mance escluse.
Il personale parlava quasi tutto italiano e anche il personale americano sapeva qualche parola ! Tutti gentili e simpatici! Ci ritornerei sicuramente
Loved this place !! Amazing food, great service and they topped it off with a happy birthday song that my son surprised me with for my bday three days ago!!! Highly recommended!!
I reserved a table here for my friend and I, and good thing I did because the restaurant is quite small! However, the close knit corners created an environment that made the restaurant feel like everyone was a community and a small family.
The staff was so friendly and were open to starting conversations with us. I could tell that they really loved working there and were very excited to be serving us authentic Italian food.
We loved the food we ordered and expressed how amazing it was to the staff. When they brought us the check, they even gave us free cannolis. The value of this food was amazing. The prices are set not too high, so that it's affordable.
I thank the restaurant for the wonderful experience in Soho, NYC, and I will be coming there again!!!!!
It’s very tiny but fun and nice staff
Perfect for everything! I love this place!
Service and food were spectacular. Wait staff was friendly and polite.
Always consistent with quality of food, service, and comfort! Never fails to deliver unparalleled service!
Piccola never disappoints- it is truly the best place to eat Italian food in all of New York City!
Incredible food, warm friendly service. Tables close together make for a cozy ambiance where you can speak with fellow diners makes for a great evening out and a memorable memorable meal
My favorite fresh, homemade Italian and Sicilian food in the city!
Excellent food and plenty of it! Great vibe about this place, lovely Eleanora took great care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, highly recommend a visit.
É stata una bella esperienza
Un ambiente veramente familiare.
The space is too narrow, and need to move the table to come out. The food is ok, but the lobster is not that much, maybe my expecting is too high?
This was hands down the worst dining experience of my life. Do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. I read the reviews prior to booking so I was aware that this was a loud restaurant and wait times were an issue - these concerns were understated! We had a reservation. After waiting awhile, we were seated. After waiting some more, we told the wait staff we were ready to order. Then, our waiter, Timur, who was serving us wine was interrupted by a group of his friends at the door. He stopped serving us to greet them and showed them to their table which was right next to us. His friends were obnoxious . They were screaming at the top their lungs, banging dishes, glasses, et cetera, and clapping as if they were at a rock concert. I have never experienced anything like this. If we were at a club, cool, but this is a restaurant. It is the owner's responsibility to create and welcoming and enjoyable experience for all patrons. Did they do that??? NO! They were drinking in the kitchen with these people! In case you couldn't guess, the service was mediocre. I had to ask multiple times for water on a day where the temperature was near 100 and the AC was barely working (if at all). Finally, the food... I gave them 1 star because that is the least Open Table allows you to give and the octopus starter and the wine were good. The pasta was over salted. Both my husband and I didn't finish our dinner - this is saying a lot because my husband always clears his plate. As I said in the beginning, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere!
After going here for a few years and always loving it, we were very surprised at the experience during our last visit. The food was very good, although our pasta dish was definitely over cooked—especially for a true Italian restaurant (and it was over cooked even for fresh pasta). The killer was that, right after taking away our entrees, the waiter dropped the check on the edge of our table. At the same time, he gave the table next to us dessert menus. It took me about a minute to figure it out, as I saw a party of 6 waiting at the entrance and the empty table of 4 next to us. For me, service is as important as the food. I don’t complain. I just don’t go back. Some might say that it was a mistake and I should have just brought it to their attention but—having been there many times—I can say that the staff knows their business. They juggle a tiny room that is always packed. It was no mistake. To me, a lapse in food is forgivable. Not so with a lapse in respect. They’re clearly riding a wave of—up to now—deservedly good reviews but service slipping is a very bad sign.
There was no AC in the restaurant during the heat wave.
True Italian in an authentic setting. Put it on your SoHo to do list.
2 Air conditioners blasting but the door was left wide open for the air to escape, not sure if that made any sense especially when it was 95 degrees outside. Probably not the ideal spot to dine in during the summer heat.
