First time trying this new restaurant at Bayview Village mall and it was an excellent experience.
Servers: were friendly, organized and gave you time to settle in before they approached to take your drinks and/or menu selections. Our particular server gave me an excellent recommendation when I was stuck between two dishes. He even checked in later to see how I liked my choice, which was so delicious. 10/10
Food & Drinks: okay…there are literally few words I could use to describe how great the food was. We started off with a beer (for my husband) and a Popa Surprise for me (they don’t skimp on the hard liquor part for my mixed drink). We ordered the lamb leg bao (comes with 2 bao), not a fan of lamb normally but the description was too interesting to pass up. They marinate the meat for 48 hours and you can tell because of how soft the meat was in the bao. For our mains we got the shrimp kebat and the mansmar beef curry (that comes with coconut jasmine rice). Dear god the beef was so soft it pulled apart easily with your fork (no knife needed). It was in a flavourful curry, that when added to the rice it was pure bliss. For dessert we had the dark chocolate stuffed samosas with ice cream, which truly completed the meal so nicely. 11/10.
First time having Burmese food and would do it again in a blink of an eye. Highly recommend you check this lovely addition to Bayview Village’s casual dining scene.
(2nd time going to Popa).7:30 pm reservation. Was told right away that restaurant closes at 9. We were not asked for proof of vaccination. Our server had his mask under his nose. Had our salad before our drinks. ( Salad was very spicy compare to 1st time but still tasty). Delicious Bao buns. But couldn't handle the spicy entree this time. Won't be a 3rd time
The kow suay was to thick and heavy. Food delicious though. Calamari could have a better flavoured batter.
The food and service was really nice. Server suggested and made a nice non-alcoholic drink for us.
They were not serving cocktails. Just wine or straight hard liquor. Good came out Luke warm not hot. Quality of food was okay but not great. Was not as I had hoped.
Professional service and excellent food. Food arrived quickly.
its close to Indian, but not really. A little rice, a little paratha, and a range of curries.
Enjoyed the experience of another cuisine.
Wonderful experience. Loved having something different. I love spice so the spice was great.
The menu was pared down, as all restaurant menus are to survive current capacity restrictions and COVID 4th wave. We shared the pickled ginger salad, steamed lamb leg bao, fish curry and chai tea cheesecake.
All dishes were freshly prepared and very flavourful, and service was pleasant and welcoming. We look forward to returning after the Ontario government issues vaccine certificates and limits dining to vaccinated people and we look forward to enjoying more items from an expanded menu.
Good food and special. Menu is quite small though.
As a vegetarian I loved all the options for me, but was a little disappointed to see the tofu prepared the same way for all the dishes. It was really good, just a little repetitive if ordering multiple dishes.
Really delicious food - huge portions for the price you're paying which is awesome. Great balance in flavors. Would definitely recommend!
Considering location, quality and current state of inflation, the pricing was probably below market value.
The food was absolutely amazing. Totally hit the spot.
Excellent food, great service. The restaurant is located inside a mall, but by dinnertime the shops have mostly closed so there is not much noise and the interior ambience is very pleasant.
Except for the mohinga , everything else we ordered felt like they were simply reheated as opposed to prepared fresh. especialy the platha. Service wasn't as warm as you'd typically expect from a restaurant in Canada.
Food was amazing and loved the ambience!
It was a early bday dinner for my partner who I had mentioned (in a note when reserving our seat) if he could be surprised with a cupcake and candle. Not only did we wait (for the cupcake with a candle) as we were headed out after eating our meal, the server told him they still needed to bring that, hence ruining that surprise.
The menu was also short and out of certain items which was disappointing. And we had to wait 25 mins before being seated though we arrived 5 mins before our scheduled time.
Restaurant was diffficult to find, info on web site and telephone recording needs to improve.
Service was very good and the food was good. Restaurant did not have table cloth or cloth napkins at dinner. Ambiance was sparse.
An absolutely wonderful dinner. We went on a Sunday evening, and they have set up a patio area considering covid restrictions. The service was wonderful, and the food was even better. Our server was extremely attentive and warm, and gave us great recommendations including the mango pickled lamb, Rangoon chicken curry, tea leaf salad and steak kebat. Every dish was incredible, we loved everything we tried. Big portion sizes and reasonable prices. We will definitely be returning!
We had a great evening and the food was fresh. The left overs tasted fresh even the next day when we ate them at home. Great options for vegetarians as well! Their tent outside with the little lights made for a lovely date night.
Food was good except for few dishes i found too salty.
Same owner as Goa Indian Farm Kitchen, some menu items are similar but definitely not the same. Everything was delicious - flavourful with a good level of spiciness. Reasonable portions - we did not walk away hungry! Staff was attentive and not over-bearing. Great suggestions provided. Appreciated their adherence and execution of COVID protocols. Will definitely come again and have already recommended to others.
Their menu said their platha was vegan tho it wasn’t. Their chefs didn’t place masks over their nose.
The food was very fresh. The spices were different than any we havetried before. The server was very attentive and able to describe each dish.
Enjoyed . will visit again . drinks are good too.
I was excited but I straight up could not figure out where it was!
Understood this is not authentic Burmese food. But some of it was passable. The service staff was not thinking... Made some mistakes. Hostess was nice but tried to charge us a ridiculous fee for cutting a cake we brought over. Never paid a fee like this anywhere, and I have lived here for 40 years.
Great food -portions a little on the small side but service was excellent. Cost of tea was crazy though...would visit again for sure.
Tge service was atrociously terrible. Not what you expect from a respectable dinner restaurant. Service was akin to fast food. Unresponsive. Slow. Awkward.
Amazing, delicious and different food. Excellent, attentive service
Great food but was missing that x factor. Cant really point what was missing though ..Will come again!
Good restaurant to go with the family.
It's located inside a mall.
Very helpful staff
Interesting and tasty food, I would certainly go back
Very attentive and thoughtful wait staff. The food, flavours and presentation are incredible!! The Portuguese egg tarts (with surprise tapioca) were so memorable, but every dish was very delicious and decently-portioned. Creative drinks menu too - was only able to try the "mocktails" but I'd love to try the 'cocktails' next time. Lovely, modern decor and ambiance. The cuisine is unique and innovative among Asian restaurants - but even my staunchly Chinese Dad, (who usually doesn't usually venture outside of 'traditional' Chinese restaurants) seemed comfortable with the food. Thank you!!
Excellent food and drinks. Our server was great also. Place gets busy so reservations are suggested.
Very interesting menu offering many traditional Burmese food options. Flavourful dishes, although the traditional spices have been dumbed down to enable enjoyment by the uninitiated.
A little pricey for lunch menu. A bowl of rice should not cost $7!
Friendly, knowledgeable service. Meal was tasty, nice flavours (a little like Thai but with Indian touch). We’ll be back!
Great food and service overall. We enjoyed the lamb and beef dishes, did not love the eggplant entree. Cocktails were refreshing and tasty (the one with ginger beer).
