Food was good except for few dishes i found too salty.
Same owner as Goa Indian Farm Kitchen, some menu items are similar but definitely not the same. Everything was delicious - flavourful with a good level of spiciness. Reasonable portions - we did not walk away hungry! Staff was attentive and not over-bearing. Great suggestions provided. Appreciated their adherence and execution of COVID protocols. Will definitely come again and have already recommended to others.
Their menu said their platha was vegan tho it wasn’t. Their chefs didn’t place masks over their nose.
The food was very fresh. The spices were different than any we havetried before. The server was very attentive and able to describe each dish.
Enjoyed . will visit again . drinks are good too.
I was excited but I straight up could not figure out where it was!
Understood this is not authentic Burmese food. But some of it was passable. The service staff was not thinking... Made some mistakes. Hostess was nice but tried to charge us a ridiculous fee for cutting a cake we brought over. Never paid a fee like this anywhere, and I have lived here for 40 years.
Great food -portions a little on the small side but service was excellent. Cost of tea was crazy though...would visit again for sure.
Tge service was atrociously terrible. Not what you expect from a respectable dinner restaurant. Service was akin to fast food. Unresponsive. Slow. Awkward.
Amazing, delicious and different food. Excellent, attentive service
Great food but was missing that x factor. Cant really point what was missing though ..Will come again!
Good restaurant to go with the family.
It's located inside a mall.
Very helpful staff
Interesting and tasty food, I would certainly go back
Very attentive and thoughtful wait staff. The food, flavours and presentation are incredible!! The Portuguese egg tarts (with surprise tapioca) were so memorable, but every dish was very delicious and decently-portioned. Creative drinks menu too - was only able to try the "mocktails" but I'd love to try the 'cocktails' next time. Lovely, modern decor and ambiance. The cuisine is unique and innovative among Asian restaurants - but even my staunchly Chinese Dad, (who usually doesn't usually venture outside of 'traditional' Chinese restaurants) seemed comfortable with the food. Thank you!!
Excellent food and drinks. Our server was great also. Place gets busy so reservations are suggested.
Very interesting menu offering many traditional Burmese food options. Flavourful dishes, although the traditional spices have been dumbed down to enable enjoyment by the uninitiated.
A little pricey for lunch menu. A bowl of rice should not cost $7!
Friendly, knowledgeable service. Meal was tasty, nice flavours (a little like Thai but with Indian touch). We’ll be back!
Great food and service overall. We enjoyed the lamb and beef dishes, did not love the eggplant entree. Cocktails were refreshing and tasty (the one with ginger beer).
This restaurant is offering a unique selection of dishes that are well prepared, extremely tasty and great value! I very much appreciated the variety of flavours and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The flavour profile of the food was something special. Often food is unnecessarily sweet to cater to a "North American" palate and I really appreciate that the flavours of the food served at Popa seemed authentic to Burmese cuisine and balanced and not over sweet. Our server was very thoughtful and took the time to explain the menu to us and suggest some dishes. She was attentive without being over bearing. When the bill came we were not surprised and, in fact, were pleasantly surprised by the value we received overall in terms of the quality of food and the whole dining experience. Overall, we really enjoyed our first visit to Popa and will definitely recommend and return. We are grateful to have such delicious and culturally diverse food offered in our neighbourhood.
Delicious and surprising food. Very attentive service. It is located inside a shopping mall which takes out part of the charm and ambience, but Bayview has other restaurants and all have their separate space which is a nice thing. I would recommend that they improve their wine list to include other wines. It is limited to 12 to 15 options if I am not mistaken.
Lovely dinner, full of rich flavours! Nice spot for a cozy dinner with a friend or two! Will be back.
The food was great. Though it err’d on the side of being a bit oily and greasy. Can tell especially when I tried to have the leftovers the next day and the entire container was oily. Otherwise great service and atmosphere.
Delicious and interesting menu. Great service and nice ambiance.
The service is excellent. Waitress patient in explaining the dishes.
Table for 2 was too close to the next table. I can clearly hear my next table’s conversation which make me feel like eating in food court.
A bit disappointing with the food.
Small plate Shan tofu was rather salty and all cramped in the stone bowl. Burmese tempura basket was over cooked/burnt that the crust was too hard and all the vegetables overcooked.
From the Maitre d to the waiter/ waitresses and the food every thing was first class. I will definitely eat there again
The food was great. Very flavorful. The restaurant is still fairly new and there were some minor issues, but they were very accommodating and we didn't have a problem. It was full soon after we arrived so reservations are recommended. Would go back.
Flavour profiles of the dishes we had were very good, especially the steak kebat, fish curry, tea salad, lamb bao and burmese fried rice. The hint of coconut in the jasmine rice was a good complement to the fish curry. The owner, Hemant, happened to be there that evening and was very welcoming and engaging to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
Very pleasant. Good service and delicious food.
Enjoyed the different types of food items. Would like to try more. To be honest, it is too noisy and when the wait staff speaks gently it is hard to hear them. The only other complaint is that the menu in three pieces is awkward to handle. Also the typeface describing the items is very small and the low light in the restaurant makes it tough to read.
Meh...$130 for a mediocre meal...I know the place has just opened and they might improve but the meal was definitely not worth anywhere near $150 (with tip)
Wanted to try the new restaurant opened by the owners of one of my favorites, Goa, also in Bayview Village, and it didn't disappoint. The flavours in every dish were very distinctive combinations and all were delicious. Particularly loved the lentil falafel with burnt garlic butter and the curried fish. I must make special mention to our server Benjamin. He was wonderful ; the perfect amount of attentive and friendly. He definitely added to the enjoyment of the dinner. Can't wait to return!
