What Insiders Are Saying
Ottolenghi is a casual restaurant and deli that serves fresh Middle Eastern-influenced food, pastries and excellent salads.
Did not disappoint! Big fan of Ottolenghi recipe books and never eaten one of his restaurants before! Would definitely recommend!
A friend and I visited this week. Original and delicious food, freshly prepared, and such welcoming staff.
Highly recommend, but don't want too many people reading this in case we can't get a table next time!
Second visit to Ottolenghi. The location in Spitalfields is hip and the space is modern and attractive. We were seated promptly and served enthusiastically by a waiter who guided us to a very nice Palestinian wine (who knew?). We ordered 5 dishes: the Aubergine (good), the watermelon radish (exceptional), cauliflower (outstanding), leeks (average) and butternut squash (excellent). It was a little too much food, especially since the cauliflower dish is so filling. Ottolenghi is fairly priced for the quality of the food and might even be regarded as a bargain in terms of destination dining.r
Outstanding quality, thought and taste in the food - we expected this and were not disappointed.
Surprised by the value for money as well - dinner for 2 only 90gbp with drinks. Already re-booked for a second try..................
Excellent cuisine served and presented with delicious flavours. Would highly recommend a visit. We also received first class service from our waiter, David, who was absolutely wonderful at explaining the choices of food and was also very efficient and attentive.
Fabulous and beautiful food. Portions are quite small and prices aren't cheap but the overall experience and quality of the food makes this all worthwhile. If you want something different and to taste every ingredient in every dish - go here and celebrate.
Always innovative, interesting and delicious. One of my all time favorite restaurants if not my favorite.
We had a lovely meal to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Attentive and professional staff, great ambience and delicious food. Perfect dining experience 😀
Too much noice at dinner time. You can’t talk to eachother.
Our favourite place to eat in London, and very handy for Liverpool Street station. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic, innovative food with high quality ingredients, an interesting and good quality selection of wines and friendly, attentive service. A meal for two (four dishes, one dessert, four glasses of wine) came to about £95 - not the cheapest of meals but worth every penny.
Noise level to high due the room construction and the music was really bad making the noise even worse
Excellent, inventive food and attentive service. Convenient location but quiet venue. Lovely wine list.
We have been a number of times and always a good experience the food is good and the service warm and freindly
The food was delicious and worth its price, but the service was a bit slow and outrageous: we got our food almost 10 minutes before we got our drinks and after we paid we finished our drinks, but the waiter was so nervous to clean our table and prepare it for new guests that we felt urged to leave the restaurant. This shouldn't happen in a restaurant like this! All in all we were in the restaurant for 50 minutes.
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with my best friend, everything was just perfect!
Service was slow
My salmon and scrambled egg was missing the salmon! Taking 10 minutes to rectify this, some hand just thrown 3 tiny index finger width strips of salmon over the original egg now having sat on a hot plate.
They got our coffee order wrong as well
No humility or apology
Expensive and underwhelming
One of people we went with had allergy to some food & the staff were brilliant in sorting out her meal.
All the staff were very friendly & the food was excellent. Will go again.
The food was perfect, as usual. I did not appreciate the waiter’s attitude, including comments to my question about vegetarian options such as “I assume you’ve never been here before”. Apart from this, I had a great evening.
Really good food, great service, nice staff. Definitely a recommendation
Great lunch, it was outstanding but the waitress was not client friendly at all.
The meal was outstanding and small plates allow for sharing the delicious food.
Our serve staff was professional and friendly.
Desserts are great Aldo’s. Highly recommend!
The food in Ottelenghi was soooooo yum. everything tasted amazing. We had 5 dishes amongst the 2 of us and everything tasted of high quality. This restaurant is good for indulging but if you're still trying to keep healthy as they have lots of healthy options. I would say the restaurant is middle eastern with a bit of a Mediterranean twist. they have a good amount of veggie options and fish too! I wouldn't say they a big on meat but there are meat options too!
on to deserts - i'm not a desert person but O M G. that's all i'm going to say!
if you're in london and around Aldgate/liverpoot/sptiafields do give this a try. Also there's so many cute bars around too!
the only downfall - it is quite pricey.
xoxo food lover.
Always fabulous food. We usually go for lunch, not dinner- have to say dinner considerably more expensive, but delicious. Did ask that the pudding wines could be listed including volume on the menu, as felt the measure I received was tiny for the price- looked like 25ml for £6 (Pedro Ximenez- not the most expensive- had it the week before at a Michelin restaurant much cheaper). Staff dealt with query very well and professionally and I really appreciated that. Also loved the redecoration- lovely ambience for evening.
Went for lunch with my son, it was like eating in a noisy staff canteen. Food was much like eating in a whole food cafe that can be found in most trendy areas now but with a very hefty price tag. The service was good and very swift.
Value for money was very poor. Generally very disappointed with the experience.
Great lunch food for three of us. Initial greeting was good, seated quickly, and took our coats, but once seated our service wasnt amazing. Took 30 mins for our food to arrive and coffee came 10 mins after our desserts. Small details but it’s annoying when the food is just sublime.
I love Ottolenghi and this branch has the added bonus of being able to book breakfast/brunch which is great on the weekend. The food is delicious too as always with Ottolenghi.
Very friendly and helpful service (many thanks to David); delicious food and flavours; particular the variety of dessert was fantastic and it was so difficult to decide. Overall we had a fantastic dinner
I have been going to Ottolenghi for years, normally the one in Islington. The portions have become smaller, and the prices higher. They asked us to leave, even though there were still at least 6 empty tables, that's fine but it was done without grace.
Definitely a foodie experience, great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. It was the fourth time I had been and, with the menu always changing, there is always a surprise in store. Top tip - Always go for the cauliflower! (Yes really!)
Amazing food and great ambience. Thriving with energy! Will be back.
the acoustic is lousy. Difficult to have a conversation with your partner.
I'd been looking forward to dinner at Ottolenghi's, and the evening surpassed my expectations. The service was outstanding, and the food was magnificent: varied and delicious, with subtle nuances of flavors. I had a ginger-coriander martini, which was lovely and not overly sweet. I look forward to visiting Ottolenghi's again the next time I'm in London.
I loved the food it was fresh and I could feel the taste in every bit.
but the place was noisy I could barely hear the waiter and this was no fun....
Just fantastic. I loved the quail.
Iconic restaurant. Tasty and inspirational dishes. Worth the detour, although a bit rushy in service. Don’t miss the desserts!
Food as expected, was lovely. I had an impossible time hearing my companion though. That spoiled the evening. I'd probably not return, as it's simply too noisy.
We had a very enjoyable lunch for three. The staff are outstanding here, and the lunch menu was full of interest. The butternut squash salad had perhaps a little too much squash, but roasted aubergine salad and Gujerati beans were excellent. Salmon and hake were cooked perfectly. Excellent rose too.
Great food, wonderful service. Nice location, good atmosphere. Will definitely return!
Lovely food. Lots of vegetarian choice. Service a bit too much but not intrusive. Strange rules on when you will get what you ordered. Overall a very good experience.
We had the most wonderful experience at Ottolenghi's. The staff was super-friendly and helpful with food allergies, the food was amazing, the wine list was extraordinary - so all in all a happy night out. We would definitely recommend this place and love to come back on our next visit to London.
