Positioned on the East Side Beltline trail, The James Room is a dark and moody cocktail lounge that is meant to be a place where you can leave your stresses at the door and immerse in the energetic vibrations of our cozy and intimate space. Upon entry, an upscale coffee shop takes your gaze. During the day, the cafe intriguingly offers unique flavors such as sea salt lavender and rosemary sage, or you can opt for a classic vanilla or caramel addition to your joe if you fancy. A few paces away is an inconspicuous door disguised as a bookcase, leading to the speakeasy area equipped with a peculiar mood. The atmosphere feels intimate yet communal and invokes a sense of leisure. The fine leathers and premium seating upgrade your typical lounge visit to an elevated, exclusive treat. My visit to The James Room was overall a 10/10 experience! The other two people in my group and I started planning our next visit as we sat there. You get what you pay for, it certainly isn’t dive-bar prices but that’s not the quality of drink you receive either. Everything was above and beyond satisfactory, including the crew on staff that night!

I love the atmosphere at the James Room. Great place to relax and enjoy an amazing music selection. Customer service has always been top notch!

Don’t like the 20% automatic gratuity as service was poor. We were seated at the bar after making a reservation for a birthday dinner. Bartender was making drinks and cleaning the counter without washing her hands in between. We had to ask her to take our food order and she never asked if we wanted anything else during or after our meal came and drinks were clearly done. We also had to flag her down after eating for our check.

Very cute and chill! Seating is kind of “limited” but they accommodate to the best of their ability. This is more of a start of a night before you go somewhere else or the nightcap to the evening.

The lady at the door was not very nice but eventually let us in. We’ve been many times before and always have a good time. Not sure what that was about everything was great as usual. I’ll be back.

I’ve been to James Room several times and I like the drinks and vibes however service is not the best. Today’s service was really bad. Our server (can’t remember her name) was not attentive or patient at all. She didn’t really check on us and we had to try way too hard to get her attention. When she would come it seemed like we were bothering her. We asked her to take a picture for us and that was too much of an ask apparently because she definitely rolled her eyes. It sucks because 20% gratuity is added to all checks so you’re forced to pay for bad service regardless. On the bright side, crab cakes were great, as usual!

Good experiences when I’ve gone. Has some unique cocktails. My only complaint would be how inconsistent the dresscode is. They’ve turned my friend around before and let someone in right after with the exact same clothing.
