Café Murano - Covent Garden
Sunday Lunch: 11.30am–4.00pm
Charing Cross main line station is a 10 minute walk.
On a business trip to London from Northumberland meeting with friends after a 30 yr gap. Super excited about the prospect. Service wasn’t great - left for 15 minutes before offered a drink then they arrived with starters. Menu fab, starters great. Risotto was slightly stodgy and so oversalted I couldn’t finish it. Hard to complain because it was an ‘occasion’ meal. Pudding was amazing and the bill was reasonable for central London. I will come again if only to meet my own high expectations.
Lovely pre-theatre meal with an old friend. Beef carpaccio was a particular treat. Young Italian staff were friendly, and the atmosphere bubbly and welcoming. I would definitely return.
Post theatre dinner. Really good food..and good value for Covent Garden. Veal neck risotto was excellent. We were seated upstairs...was quite noisy and rather too hot, but otherwise a very good restaurant.
Second visit, on this occasion for dinner, post theatre matinee. Lovely ambience. Service fantastic, recommendations with menu when asked, offered wine tasters as couldn't decide. Dessert came with candle and meloncello on the house to wish me a Happy Birthday. I left feeling very Happy!
Perfect family dinner!
First time at Cafe Murano and would certainly return - excellent food, generous portion sizes, an interesting list of Italian wines from diverse regions, and efficient, professional service. And good value for the quality. Impressed!
As ever, a wonderful meal with considerate and attentive service
Extremely nice staff, nice ambience, good location
An excellent restaurant all round for food and ambience. Although the desserts are disappointing and not of the same standard as the starts and main courses. This area definitely needs some changes.
Excellent service, good varied menu. Cafe Murano is consistently good on repeat visits.
Great Italian food and a good set course lunch with fresh ingredients. Served quickly and unobtrusively but they really expect you to take wine at lunch, which I don't want for a business meal.
The food was lovely and the service very pleasant .
The food is outstanding, perfect place for business meeting or even have a great food in top restaurant with friends or family
good food, service was a bit slow but the food was worth the wait.
This was our second visit, two couples. Last time our visit was excellent in every way. This time the restaurant was much quieter. Our main problem was that one of the choice of four or five dishes from each course, generally the most popular, was unavailable, limiting our choice. The food we had was good, if a little pedestrian for an upmarket establishment. The food was produced very promptly, so much so that we had to remind the waiter that we had ordered wine to drink with the meal and not after it. We discussed our reservations with the manager who was very apologetic and told they were aware of the problem. Our bill was reduced.
Since this was a special occasion for us we were a little disappointed that the overall standard was rather lower than a year ago.
Booked for pre theatre but would have cheerfully stayed all evening. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service was excellent - knowledgable, friendly staff and no request a problem. Our table was in the first floor dining room which has a lovely warm ambience. Thoroughly recommend Cafe Murano
reliable & authentic Italian cuisine and very helpful service
Very happy with our evening here. Good standard of food and pleasant, cosy atmosphere. Will be back.
Great food and ambience! The fish and the osso bucco risotto were phenomenal....
Grazie a tutti nel Cafe Murano.
My family and I decided to take early dinner before a west end show and were not disappointed. The staff were very welcoming, accommodating and professional whilst being empathetic to my 11 and 8 year olds and their own choices.
I’ll be going again. Ambience is very classy but not over done. Bravi gli italiani 👏👏
This restaurant lived up to expectations and we had a very nice pre-theatre dinner. The staff were lovely
and accommodated my wife (who has a foot recovering from surgery) very well. We would certainly go back - we enjoyed it a lot.
We were pleasantly surprised at the non fussy atmosphere. The food was excellent and service very friendly and helpful in food choices.
We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.
Cafe Murano serves delicious, and sometimes unusual, dishes. The atmosphere is warm, the service is impeccable and thoughtful - it is never stuffy.
delicious, casual lunch. Good value for central London and celebrity chef.
Very nice food.
Prompt, polite, effective service.
Very responsive to individual needs and requirements.
Lovely little restaurant and so glad we booked as lots of people were trying to get tables but couldn’t. Service very quick, perhaps too quick initially but quite a wait for the bill after we had eaten. Main courses lovely, almond tart a little tough but tasty. Would book again and it even got the seal of approval from my picky teenage son- he loved the mocktails.
Been a few times now. Quality of food is great and staff are always polite and friendly. Recommended.
Service was poor. The food was cold and poorly presented, looked like it had been thrown on the plate.
We were looking forward to our visit but left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed!
Food from the set menu seemed simple but offered enough variety for us so this is what we plumped for. However, the chard and spinach pie I ordered turned out to be a reheated pie where the rather tough pastry lid was sitting on top being unattached to the base! My husband's bruchetta had a meagre number of mushrooms on it and had an uninteresting taste. The tagliatelli that followed was no better being a little over cooked, lukewarm and dull in flavour!! The desserts and wine were better but for house wine was still expensive.
Surely simple food can be cooked with more generosity of flavour and presentation? We left feeling we could have cooked much better ourselves, not great when it's an anniversary treat ! Should do better!!
Great pre-theatre venue. "proper" Italian, cosy dining room.
I had been to Cafe Murano before for a pre Opera dinner which I enjoyed very much so I booked for lunch and took a French friend with me . We were seated in the outer area near the door which was very busy area and we had a rather noisy group next to us
We opted for the set lunch which was mediocre to say the least my chicken was very small and over cooked. Poor value . I will not be going again for a while if ever .
Went for lunch with a friend
Nice atmosphere buzzy and busy even on a Wednesday
Efficient friendly staff
Lovely food very reasonably priced for central London
We went here with our 4 year old and the staff could not have been friendly and we felt very welcome. Food delicious.
We came to this restaurant with high expectations as they had some good reviews. The food was very average in relation to the price charged. The beans were un-cooked in my main and most of the food was very bland. We were a party of 5. The one plus point was the red wine I had was very nice. Sadly we chose this restaurant for my wifes Birthday. Big mistake. When paying top dollar at a restaurant you expect it to be special.. They need to up their game.
We returned after a highly sucessful lunch about a year ago and were frankly disappointed. Service was haphazard at best although the upstairs tables were only sparsely patronised. Pre dinner drinks took ages then when they arrived my partner's dry vermouth wasn't there. Ultimately he was served a sweet vermouth and we'd lost the will to get it changed.
Food was unimpressive. My pumpkin salad was all baked pumpkin, with a few chestnuts no leaves and drowned in oil. My main of octopus was similarly poorly executed. It was our son's birthday so we didn't make a fuss at the time as he was enjoying it. We shall not go back sadly.
Service was terrible. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very poor
Another very good meal at this lovely restaurant. The only slight slip was being offered our white wine to taste and finding it nowhere near chilled enough. Our waiter said he would put it in the freezer for five minutes. When it came back it was a red wine which was entertaining. We were then given a fresh perfectly chilled bottle of white. The Manager and the waiter were both apologetic and charming. It certainly didn’t detract from our enjoyment of our meal.
Authentic Italian food good size portions and good choice of dishes. Great service. We went for my sister's birthday and were offered a glass of prosecco to enjoy whilst reading the menu. Then a birthday treat of chocolate torte with a discret candle and very best wishes from the waiter. All very lovely we will return often.
We’ve dined there on many occasions before and always enjoyed it, but this time it was especially good - great attentive service and the food - especially pasta - was heroic.
