My favourite place to have lunch, in the country: food is great, drinks are excellent, lots of lovely dogs, garden is brilliant when weather warm enough, service is first class, ALWAYS: fast and incredibly polite, and kind. We are infrequent regulars at this place and are extremely grateful for it being there for us, whenever we feel like having a lovely pub lunch! Thank you!!!

Good choices on the menu, including some specials. We both chose the skewers which were very filling, tasty and well cooked. Service was exceptional - lots of care taken, very personable and helpful.

Friendly service - the pub was lovely at lunch time but quieter in the afternoon. The food was very good, but the main course that we chose (mallard) was way too salty.

Such a relaxed atmosphere and really friendly staff, one of whom went way beyond the extra mile to make our very nervous, anxious dog comfortable. Food very tasty and everyone pleased with their choices. The lamb and chicken kofta skewers were authentic with delicious accompaniments. Two of us wanted the very tasty seafood chowder as main courses and this was no problem. Looking forward to returning and reliving the experience!

Really nice dinner out with friends. We've been here before and the food has always been very good. Nice to see they've kept the pub side going as that really added to the ambiance. Service was great although I gather they were a bit short of staff.

A good meal and great service by the lovely waitress. We're regulars for Saturday lunch. This time though my cockapoo wasn't offered a bowl of water throughout the entire meal and in the end I had to shout over to the barman as it was extremely noisy and busy, to request one. I think this lack of care was due to the amount of people having lunch in the pub, so understandable. My cockapoo also woofed a couple of times because he was scared of the large guide dog (to him it was just a large scary dog) and he was very wary of the big black labrador at the next table. His few woofs resulted in the assistant manager coming over to our table, suggesting that we locked him in the car ! I was horrified to say the least, especially as there were at least a dozen other dogs in the pub. Duke William - you're either 'dog friendly' or not. Dogs do tend to woof sometimes. Customers shouldn't be singled out on account of a few woofs from their dogs.

Absolutely outstanding service here, all staff were helpful and friendly. Food was exceptional and well priced. I had a bit of anxiety where we were sitting and staff were ever so understanding and caring. We were moved to a quite corner and all was well. Thanks so much

Took our elderly relatives for a birthday Sunday lunch. They have us a nice quiet table overlooking the garden. The service was attentive and friendly. We had the pork and beef roasts which were tasty and plentiful. Very nice outing and we will be back.

Friendly welcome and shown to a table in the outside eating area. Nice big table, good, attentive service. Drinks and food arrived in good time and we all really enjoyable. The mussels were excellent and it’s always a bonus to find somewhere with Lucky Saint on tap as a non drinker. Will be visiting again soon.

We were disappointed that the Manager Hugh was not based in Ickham on the day we went there for lunch. Apparently, he has been transferred to try to improve standards at other pubs in the group that are not doing so well. One of the main reasons we go to the Duke William is for Hugh's warm welcome & if he is not there, we may go elsewhere, as Hugh provides an exceptional dining experience. He always goes the extra mile! We love the ambiance at the Duke William & that it's easy to park. The staff are generally polite and helpful. Lizzie was exceptionally friendly & helpful, providing good service with a smile. Jenny is also amazing! Kind, friendly & just adorable! The management of the Duke William is very fortunate to have staff like Hugh & Jenny! To be honest, the main problem is the food, it is always so bland. I'm sure the chef has some tasty recipes up his sleeve, so why not give him free rein to provide food with flavour? There used to be an amazing vegetarian curry on the menu that we loved! Please bring it back! The decor & village location are 1st class. However, I did notice that the floor and wall tiles in the ladies are in need of a deep clean. Ditto the seats at the window tables could do with a shampoo to remove stains. Maybe the cleaners have become complacent? We are very fond of the Duke William & have been regular customers for over 20 years, so any criticism is intended to be helpful & to raise standards.

Food was OK nothing fab. Had the chicken and lamb kofta, it was a bit meat heavy, a nice mixed salad or coleslaw would have helped and the sauce that was over the top of it wasn't very nice. Service was good.

Food was absolutely amazing and the staff were fantastic! It was my girlfriends birthday and they made it very special for her with a happy birthday sign on the table and a glass of Prosecco, I am very grateful as it made for a perfect birthday meal for her which she thoroughly enjoyed! Most definitely recommend to anyone!

The food was very good, 1 beef roast, 1 pork roast & 1 sweet potato & chickpea loaf. A slightly bigger Yorkshire pudding would have been appreciated & a few more plated vegetables. The cheesy leaks were very good. The bitter chocolate mouse was very good, but my wife’s Frangipane tart had a slightly burnt taste. The drink selection was good, my son had a Lemon Cider from Faversham, which he enjoyed. Staff were very pleasant, attentive and friendly.

My husband enjoyed the roast pork, my roast chicken was poor in terms of quality and how it had been cooked. In terms of value for money, I have had better quality chicken from carvery restaurants and more tender roast chicken served in restaurants/ pubs at a lower price. I would not recommend the Roast Chicken to other customers, to be fair, my husband would recommend the Pork.
