A rustic farm to table restaurant with some great menu items. Crowded when we arrived at 7:30 on a Friday, but that’s to be expected. Food was great, service was a bit lagging (probably due to the packed restaurant - I give them
The benefit of a doubt). Overall I’d recommend and I’d go again.
As always wonderful time. Manager, Victoria, was especially great!
The food and beer was excellent. I suggest the Lobster wraps (starter) as a meal....it was yummy..
Our waiter Jesse was amazing. Great food and great service.
Food was excellent. Service was one of the worst I have ever experienced. I swear I think he forgot about us. After taking our order, he did not return until the check. In fact, we sat there forever trying to get the check and to go boxes. I would not recommend.
Great dinner and fun environment!!
It was a moderately warm DC evening & 3 of us chose to sit outside because the noise level inside was VERY high!
Terrific service, solid recommendations, an excellent choice of beers & wine... all-in-all a delightful evening for visiting friends!
We return to Copperwood for dinning because of the great brunch menu. Our experience this time was poor. The food was okay, but closer to lukewarm than hot and the service was inattentive. We asked for condiments and ended up getting them ourselves.
The sausage in the Scotch eggs was under cooked. The bananas foster French Toast was okay. The bread was very thick and almost no eggs mixture on the bread. The Bananas Foster sauce was void of flavor.
All the dishes we had were tasty. The truffle mac and cheese was the most impressive as it was light and delicious. The restaurant is very nice inside including the bar section.
Second time here. Loved it last time. This time the steak was ordered medium rare - came out medium well. Took it back, while the rest of the table was eating. Waited 15 minutes - other parties were done - this time the steak was rare. No offer to comp anything, or provide a standby dish while waiting. Disappointing!
I've been here twice for brunch only and I keep making excuses for the food. It isn't horrible, but IMO it isn't great. Loved the bacon and the Sherbert Mimosa, but cared for nothing else I've ordered. Great service and feel at both Loudon and Shirlington.
Great food, in a moving, rustic, ambience.
We are somewhat regulars at the Shirlington location and we've never been disappointed. Always a great meal, it comes at a reasonable cost.
Their appetizers are stellar, go and make a meal out of just the apps, you won't be disappointed.
Such a great place to meet up with friends after work - definitely my new fav hangout!
Service was excellent. The burgers are the best ever!
We had a great lunch for 4 on a Sunday 12:30. Very busy and seemed like servers were stretched too thin. Our server was very pleasant but covering several tables. Loved the steak Brussels salad, interesting drinks.
I love Copperwood tavern. I tried the brisket grilled cheese and it was delicious!!! I’ve tried many things on their menu over the past year and all delicious. On the weekend you can park in pbs station garage but parking hard to find during the week.
Well when you find a duck bone in your brunch it kind of puts you off quite a bit
Great place to grab some great food and drinks. It is a little more on the expensive side but the food doesn't disappoint.
The breakfast is always amazing and perhaps I should stick to that. The dinner appetizers and salads are consistently great as well and the evening we went was no exception. I've always had good experiences at any other meal but dinner. I won't come again. Our food was inedible and salty. My guest ate the salmon, but the garnish with an already salty sausage ingredient, made it over powering. The squash was really my only vegan option. I don't think a restaurant should consider ONE VEGAN option...vegan friendly. Our waitress albeit friendly, talked a mile a minute and mumbled through everything. We gave up trying to understand. We received free desserts, and that was cute, but what we really wanted was a good meal, and a good exoerience. They weren't great desserts either. The chocolate cake was so dry near the edge I couldn't finish it. The texture was off and it didn't seem fresh. I'm sad. I used to love this place for drinks, for breakfast...dinner however is always off.
Maria was an excellent server, and the food (steak, Brussel sprouts, and duck eggs) was delicious.
Service took a long time & my BALT sandwich was underwhelming (limp bacon & overly greasy fried green tomato).
The Tavern is a great spot along the Shirlington strip to grab lunch, brunch or dinner. We got an outside table since it was such a beautiful day! The server was prompt and checked in with us several times to make sure we were doing okay with our drinks and brunch entree. I could say the entrees are almost too much food. Have eaten here several times and always found the food wonderful and looking forward to my next visit to try some else.
Food was amazing. Farm to table. Local. Enough said. Service was amazing. Our server Mike was on point and very helpful. Definitely will be back anytime I'm in the area!
I've eaten here several times, and it's always been great. This time, I ordered the filet mignon and asked what the ambiguous vegetable garnish would be, because the menu didn't specify. The server said he'd check on that for me, but never got back to me with the details. He simply placed the order and brought it out when it was ready. Turns out the vegetable was a bowl of mushrooms. This might not be a big deal for many people, but I hate mushrooms. I hate them so much that even having them in proximity to my other food grosses me out. It grosses me out in almost the same way as if somebody brought out a bowl of cockroaches or something and placed it next to my food. Just disgusting. This is the primary reason I asked for more specific info about the meal in the first place — I don't want mushrooms on my plate, ever. I wish I had known in advance. The server didn't offer to swap them out for something else when I told him about my strong aversion to mushrooms, and I had lost my appetite enough by that point that I didn't bother pressing the issue.
My wife and I ordered the Tomahawk to share it was cooked perfectly and everything was delicious. The server was great too! Unfortunately we did not have time for dessert but next time.
As always, the food and service were top notch.
I loved this place on my birthday and came back with out of town friends! It's terrific. GREAT food, fun rustic setting, we'll be back!
Quality farm-fresh food served with quiet professional service.
We dined here for Father’s Day brunch and the service & food was amazing. My husband got a gift card of $25 with a beef jerky on it after our meal and we appreciate everyone. Thank you the hostess working Sunday morning and our server Octavia for the amazing server
We always love coming to Copperwood. I am gluten free and can find plenty of options. The Fried Green Tomatoes and Deviled Eggs are delicious!
First, they did a nice job of treating fathers well for Father's Day. But the service was slow and the food came out lukewarm. It was hard to get drink refills. This was our second time having brunch at Copperwood on Father's Day and had a much better experience the first time.
Food was great as always, but service was horrible. We were ignored and when we did receive service it was rushed. We got better service from the other waiter who was around our table.
Loved our waiter and our food and drinks!
CooperWood Tavern was a great experience on Father's Day. Our waitress, Octavia, was very hospitable, gracious, and accommodating to our needs. I'm sure that we'll visit again sometime in the near future. Thank you, all!
Always a great experience.
Celebrated highschool graduation and my daughter’s 16th birthday. These two events collided on the same day. We asked for the restaurant to set up a special table with balloons/flowers/anything... Was told we would get a call back after hostess spoke with the manager, but never heard back from anyone. Continually checked our phones throughout graduation ceremony. No phone call back. Highly disappointed. I will not be back. Spent $300 and neither of my graduate or 16 year old were impressed by the lack of attention.
I find the brunch menu to have more dishes that appeal to me than the dinner menu offers. Tuesday dinner was Sweet Treat so the complimentary dessert was a special surprise -- and the choices were excellent and the desserts were yummy. It was kind of noisy and since our waiter was not a native English speaker, it was a bit hard to understand what he was saying. However, I enjoy the Copperwood Tavern and will come back again -- nice neighborhood restaurant.
Always a pleasure. Food’s savory & fresh and service is attentive.
Great food, great service...somewhat overpriced though, especially considering sides are purchased separately.
