What Insiders Are Saying
Hawksmoor Spitalfields was one of the first steakhouses in town, and it’s still one of the best. Finishing with toffee pudding is mandatory.
Ive eaten a lot of steak but this was by far the best. I think I will struggle to find a better steak house. I shall be back very soon.
You go the extra mile good service and above more excellent food
Had wanted to visit Hawksmoor for a long time and finally got the opportunity and loved it! Food was excellent as was the service
Perfect roast, service and atmosphere. Timings spot on, different feel rushed and the Sticky Toffee pudding was delicious.
Food as always was excellent at Hawksmoor. I have to say I didn't find the service as personable as my previous experience at their Borough restaurant but overall an excellent meal.
Second visit to this branch and 4th Hawksmoor overall. Consistently great Sunday roast although the price is creeping up. I do find the trimmings a bit weird - an entire roasted garlic and giant shallot.
Went for a Sunday Lunch with friends whilst up in London for the WW1 Remembrance celebrations. Quite a young crowd at the restaurant in hipster Spitalfields created a buzzy atmosphere. The ambience however is not quite as good here as other Hawksmoor venus we thought, but the food as always was top quality if a little pricey.
I bring my mum as she likes the ambience and the attitude compared to other London restaurants, which we find snobby and unaccomodating. Food is always cooked to an excellent standard, staff are happy to advise on food/drinks/sides/wine/cocktails etc. as required and always happy to make slight adjustments. Would sit in the front, if possible, as in the back there is less going on (and it feels louder). Bar is lovely.
Nice evening with friends. Great food and service, nothing was too much for the staff.
All round amazing
It's always a pleasure to dine at Hawksmoor, whether with friends, family, clients or colleagues. It always gets top marks!
Great steaks but get in early for the smaller porterhouse steaks. Good wine list, amazing scallops and very succulent steaks.
If you want a good cocktail or a tradish, comfort food this is the place to visit. Limited options for non-meat eaters but what's offered is yummy. And did I mention the Marmalade cocktail? I'm a regular visitor and will be coming back.
Food was amazing, as always. Service great as expected. However I do find dining in the “back room” a tad noisy and slightly uncomfortable. Would rather be seated “front of house” ... didn’t detract too much from our evening though. Everyone had a great time
Had a lovely meal with a friend, celebrating his big promotion and we got the best table in the house. Sat in a corner looking out over the rest of what is a compact but buzzing restaurant, it was perfect. Food was great, if pricey, but this is London. We shared a Porterhouse, which was perfectly cooked, and seriously tasty. And just the right amount of meat thanks to our lovely waitress. In fact service was fabulous - loved our waiting staff and their approach very much and the espresso martini was a wonderful bonus. Would highly recommend, but not for a quiet night and not if your on a budget!
Amazing Sunday roast! Highly recommend it. Will be back for sure.
London's best steak restaurant, never fails to deliver.
Staff were well informed about both the menu & wine list and helped to ensure we didn't over order. Also they were very accommodating when we were 30 mins late on a Saturday night.
Wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend, although it isn't the cheapest meal out it's worth it.
Great food polite friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good atmosphere with very welcoming staff. Food was cooked to perfection and tasted fabulous.
As always. Amazing food. Great wine. Fabulous staff and service. Had drinks downstairs after which was most fun! Thanks again!
Our first time was much nicer than our second time. They forgot on my booking I had said it was my boyfriends birthday and didn’t do anything special for it. It was embarrassing as other tables were being a made a fuss of for their birthdays.
After a 3 course meal and couple of drinks we still didn’t receive anything. Was very disappointed as I didn’t want to make it obvious in front of him what I was trying to do.
Food was unreal and very tasty. Service could of been better. One of the waitresses kept walking our table and chair in which he actually hurt herself. Not once did she say sorry. I think we will try a different Hawksmoor next time as we really wasn’t impressed by service.
Been here several times and it’s been consistently excellent. The staff really know their product, the service is excellent and the food is off-the-chart good. May seem pricey at first but with everything so spot on, it’s good value. Banging meat!
(Don’t google that last phrase on a work computer... obvs).
It was a fantastic meal for my son’s 18th birthday. Thank you.
Great food, service and ambience. Hawksmoor never fails
Extremely disappointed. Went with a client on Monday. I'd been once before and visited one near Regent Street. Have this event was a disaster. Food was average - it had clearly been left at the pass too long. Everything was warm and over cooked - even the eggs !!
The most disappointing element was the service. Appalling. They guys were just there to take your money. I sense this is living on a reputation that it no longer delivers against.
I have been here before and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. But this time I was disappointed. Bearing in mind you pay premium prices for the food here, our bill was around £200 for 2 people. The staff on this day seemed to be messing around. Usually I wouldn’t really mind but it was awkward and unprofessional. A guy who worked there sat on the seats near us and was slagging of a customer. Which is highly unprofessional. The staff seemed to be gathering around talking all lot whilst our drinks were late( they came after our starter) . It’s a shame because I get like the staff didn’t respect the customer and ruined the ambience. Such a shame
Delicious Sunday lunch.
Excellent roast beef as were the accompaniments, all cooked perfectly - crispy roast potatoes, huge yorkshire pudding, lots of fresh vegetables and great gravy. Pleased I could just squeeze in the apple and blackcurrant walnut crumple and cinnamon ice cream which was delicious.
We were guided to a perfect red wine to accompany the beef.
Friendly efficient staff.
The food was just okay. The cocktails and coffee were bad. It was also noisy.
Love Hawksmoor, great setting at the Spitalfields branch. Had a roast dinner which I enjoyed but to me I prefer going for the steaks...
Great food every time. Waiters are always attentive, you get what you pay for!! 😋
We've been before a few times, so wanted to show you off to our friends, although the photo was a bit more extravagant on the board showing family roast we were 4 of us, but plates came out individually instead, however the food was divine.
great place for a good meal, good service and the espresso martinis from Hawksmoor as it was our sons 18th was a lovely touch
Amazing steak as always
The food here is fabulous. I love a good steak and this did not disappoint! It is pricey, but worth the $!
I LOVE Hawksmoor - From the start of your evening to the end, they are attentive and friendly.
The food is to die for and the steaks are cooked to perfection. I just wish I could manage a starter and a dessert.
Hawksmoor - you were amazing, as always.
Simply amazing food and drink! Got a free cocktail as it was birthday too
Having eaten at the Guildhall and Seven Dials Hawksmoors, we were hoping for the same sort of feel here. The fact those more recent restaurants have so much character meant there was initially a disappointment to find such a low key atmosphere.
But you have to remember this is where it all began and when the food came out it was very much more of the same - outstanding. And that’s what you come here for.
Loved the steak - still among the best I’ve ever had. The carpaccio was incredible too. Great, attentive service made it a lovely evening for us altogether.
Thanks to the people at Spitalfields for a very special evening.
We had an overall bad experience here which wasnt the waiters fault but a series of mistakes with the food.
The starters arrived, nice overall although my parents were disapointed with the ceasar salald which was lettuce anchovies and parmesan. Not very saucy but very fishy
The potted beef starter came with a gravy - delicious but strong mustard flavour. My dad asked does the gravy we ordered with the main rump steak have mustard as I cant eat mustard. She said only the peppercorn sauce has no mustard so he ordered that. It came but the sauce on steak was yellow very strong mustard no peppercorns its like the opposite of what was asked. So a new steak was brought (along with a new one for me as we ordered rare and they came well done) the new steaks came they were very thin not juicy and rumpy and very cold in the middle. It was like the downgraded version since we'd mentioned the first werent rare. My mum and husband ate their steaks which were juicier but but both were well done not meduim rare as asked.
The chips that accompanied were just frozen chips fried and a little gready and hard.
All of our sides got cold while waiting for mains.
Took an incredibly long time to get tap water etc, though they were quick with alcoholic drinks. Dropped food in the drinks when removing plates but again an accident
All in all the food quality was nowhere near as good as somewhere like goodmans and not even as good as a highstreet/food court run of the mill steak place. Very disapointing in quality and flavour
The manager at the end took off the cost of one steak which is good to offer that (and it not have to be asked) but pretty much ruined my dads birthday meal out
Its such a shame as I have been to other hawksmoors and had an amazing experience but ordered the more expensive end of the menu that time - and this time the less (but still not cheap) end of the menu, so be warned when ordering the rump!
By far the best steaks in London! The staff are great, the food is amazing and there’s a fantastic wine list. Don’t forget to save room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding
