Service was excellent, and the food was good! Not much more to say, except loved sitting at the bar. It's quite a show!
Excellent pizzas and appetizers. Located on increasingly hip pedestrian mall in downtown Long Beach. Service is attentive and concerned that we are fully satisfied.
Service and food was outstanding. We ordered the specials that were suggested and was not disappointed will eat there again and recommend to everyone.
The pasta we had during the done LBC event and the gelato were the best parts. The meatball was just ok, the watermelon salad was way more spinach then watermelon and the chicken parmesan was a little soggy on the top.
Good food (the vegan is really vegan) really liked the eggplant starter and the gnocchi. The outside patio is fabulous as the sunsets
Went for the 5 course pasta dinner. A friendly casual space with an open kitchen, and fine dining experience because Food was fabulous! Great service. One box of leftovers went missing and chef made new dish to take home.
Excellent food, great service, comfortable venue, good menu
Food was very good, service was ok.
Great food and friendly service. 😊
Food was great, liked the portion size (plenty but not overly large), friendly waiter, low key atmosphere, casual dress, not noisy so were able to communicate easily with friends and staff, like the style and layout of the restaurant and the friendly buon giorno as we entered. Enjoyed the wine and we had a really nice evening.
Our favorite restaurant! The homemade pasta dishes are amazing.
Our servers were so helpful and accommodating. We came with a large party and they were able to take care of us without any problems. The food was amazing!
Very pleasant experience mid-afternoon with a group of eight. Although on arrival we were told the restaurant was closed, they did honor our 2:30 reservation. That was disconcerting and we did have the restaurant all to ourselves. Oh well. Service was friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. The outdoor patio was quite pleasant and is equipped with heaters to counter the ocean breeze. Reasonable prices.
Best pizza in Long Beach! The handmade mozzarella that's milky and creamy makes me squee with joy.
Although I love Michael's Downtown, the brunch menu needs some practice. I had the Michaels Burger, overcooked, under seasoned with an overcooked egg on top. The Portabello Mushroom bendiest was better but still slight under seasoned a bit bland. The new decor and outdoor patio looks great but seemed to be a bit of a wind tunnel. Had to move inside because all sun was blocked and with the wind made it quite chilly. I was not the only one who came inside. I will return and I do recommend Michael's but maybe not for brunch for a bit so they can work the bugs out.
Loved our dinner with friends at Michael's Italian Cafe in downtown Long Beach. We tried several pizzas and entrees and everything was delicious. Great wine selection too. We'll all be back!
Service was outstanding! We had the meat and cheese platter that was delicious. The Caesar and arugula salads were great. As for the meal, everyone raves about the pizza. We also had the spring pasta, but I would not order it again. It lacked flavor.
Great service, excellent food and quiet enough that a table of 6 could talk and actually hear each other! We will be back.
Excellent service and amazing food. Everything was prepared to perfection. We’ve eaten here many of times and we have never been disappointed.
Yeah it was awesome. Sat at the bar and don’t regret it. Staff was awesome and food was traditional italiano. We are coming back.
Great meal. Excellent service, good value, great food. Very happy with our choice for dinner and would definitely return and recommend.
Love this place! sat at the bar again and celebrated Steve's birthday.... Service is always great and so was the food and wine.
The food was incredible! The atmosphere and decor was very modern and the service was great. I recommend it!
Favorite place, never disappointed. Great food and service!
One of the best meals and overall experience we have ever had! The food was out of this world, all handmade pastas and wood fired pizza. Our server was great and engaging. Thank you for making my daughters graduation dinner an evening my family will never forget!!!!!
Excellent as always! Thank you for a wonderful dinner 🍷
We came here to celebrate Mother’s Day and couldn’t have had a better experience. The waiters were great and attentive to our party and even gave the mother’s free mimosas which was such an unexpected treat. The food was spectacular and authentic. I have eaten here on several occasions, but this momma was completely satisfied and felt very celebrated.
Loved it-we will go back!
The food was excellent
David at Front Desk is so kind, hospitable and professional. We’ll be back!
Michael's Downtown never fails to offer delicious food and excellent service. It is our favorite " neighborhood restaurant," but also special occasion worthy.
Delicious food and a really great, casual-chic vibe. Love this place and will definitely come back!
Really great homemade Italian dinner. We sat outside and with the heaters it was perfect. Food and service were great.
On a late Sunday afternoon, it was quiet and beautiful to sit outside at this lovely little restaurant. We so enjoyed the prosciutto, burrata and bruleed pear appetizer. We wanted to try the clam and shrimp with Calabrian chilis, but sadly, no clams were available. We opted for the delicious Lasagna Bolognese, which had a real authentic taste and feel to it (no ricotta, yay!). Also enjoyed the artichoke and fennel salad. Will come back for sure!
Such a great place to be for any occasions! Great service and staff and of course delicious food!
I ordered the ravioli, and my friends had the eggplant and the pasta bolognese. The eggplant was not even warm and did not taste good. Leaving most of her food behind the server didn't ask if it was alright or anything. My other friend thought her dish was good. I thought my ravioli was under-cooked and was a little funky tasting. Not terrible-just not right. I hate to say it but my stomach hurt afterwards. Service was lousy and it turned into the longest lunch! I will not be returning.
I liked it just ok. When you are dropping this kind of cash and looking for a more upscale and delicious dinner, just go to Michael's on Naples. The appetizers of steak tartare and charcuterie plate were superb. We were excited for the dishes yet to be served, only to be completely disappointed. The shrimp and clam diavolo was too salty, and I love my salt! The clams were cooked well although one did not open and was served to us. Not professional. The shrimp were overcooked: rubbery and dry. Shocked since we have never had seafood cooked in this manner ever at Michael's on Naples. The chicken parm was cut thin and pounded wide unevenly so one end of it was burnt and very dry. Like a chewy chicken cracker. There was hardly any cheese and even less sauce on most of the chicken. The house Chianti is very good. We will definitely be back for happy hour, tartare, charcuterie and to try the pizzas, but as for fine dining and a special night out, skip it. We have been to Michael's on Naples more times than I can count and they pay better attention to the quality of the food. I know this is a more casual place, but rubbery shrimp and dried out chicken are never ok.
Also the staff does not know the menu. Tartare says it comes with bread on the menu. Ours did not. The hostess made us feel stupid for asking for it. She said, "it doesn't come with bread, but if you want it... " Bread could be better and fresher too. Not the quality I was expecting from a Michael's restaurant.
One more observation, the music geared towards styles that the younger wait staff presumably like. It was blaring on the patio and getting louder. We had to ask them to turn it down. Looking around, this restaurant had older patrons due to the prices. I don't want to hear overly-loud autotune and singers that sing from a constricted throat, which seems to be the trend today, when I'm dropping close to $200. We'll be back to give it another chance, but we won't be spending the same amount.
Great ambiance, great food, great evening!
First time to The area
