Bringing some LA vibes to the northeast. REGARDS draws inspiration from the diverse food culture of Los Angeles. We highlight flavor profiles from Japan and Mexico with the freshest of Maine produce and products.

The menu at REGARDS has bright, zippy ceviches and crudos, rich tamales, plump Argentinian shrimp tacos, along with mezcal cured hamachi collars, crab rice and grilled cabbage with caesar.

Clarified lime margaritas with eucalyptus or our gin and sotol martinis with hibiscus pair with our adventurous menu. We pour natural wine and have a large selection of curated mezcals and tequilas.

A place for us and for you. Might not make sense, but it sure is delicious. Across the street from Reny's. Nearby Maine College of Art, Portland Stage Company, State Theatre, Empire Comedy Club and Blue Jazz Club.

Truly creative cuisine using Mexican ingredients. (As far from Tex-Mex as you can imagine.)

The oysters and queso are not to be missed! Small plates- truly. The shrimp tacos had a single shrimp each. But enjoyed every last bite! Our waiter was exceptional too- giving us great recs and providing witty banter. Recommend!!

So yummy! Everything was really really good. Would say was a little expensive for the size of the dishes but the taste really made up for it. Good spot to go to for a date night, but not a staple once a week kind of place. Drinks were very good as well. Would recommend

Rarely does a meal inspire, but this was different. An incredibly thoughtful and pointed meal from the oysters all the way to dessert. Each dish was upscale yet unstuffy with ingredients that all held a special place - no extras for "show". The story the chef tells is one of passion, experience, and variety of cuisine. I really hope the recognition comes swift and fast because this deserves a star. Phenomenal meal. Cannot wait to come back.

Superb! :D The hamachi collar was particularly incredible - fascinating flavor, and so tender! ^____^

Cozy spot, loud and crowded, food was ok but unusual. Limited wine, lots of mezcal though! The me y describes the ingredients but not the preparation. Lots of details spent on presentation rather than congruent taste.

The best dining experience I have had post pandemic, and its 2024 and I live in NYC. Oysters and penobscot scallop were so delicious, and not what I expected from reading the menu. I loved the shrimp tacos, and would come back again and again for the hamachi collar alone. The avocado and tostada I would have every day if I lived here. Attentive service that wasn't stuffy or overbearing, but I still felt tended to. It is hard to toe the line on great service without being too much and they nailed it. We also ordered the navy beans (I loved them, my mom felt they were more al dente than she likes), the queso fresco (my mom's favorite), bread and butter (decadent but a little messy due to the sesame seeds) as well as the tamale (never had anything like it!) and the beets (yummy, happy we tried it, but wasn't our favorite). I will be coming back up in the winter to visit friends and will try and eat here at least twice, since IT WAS THAT GREAT! This isn't what my mom calls 'regular people food'. My mom is a conservative eater, and she felt a little scared by a few of the dishes and descriptions. Just lean into it! Eat something you haven't had before, try something new and indulge your tastebuds. Ask your server questions, and find what you will like. Our server guided mom perfectly! It was a hard push to get my mom in the door, but she was laughing and loving the whole experience, and while a few dishes weren't for her, she said it was so fun and unlike anything she's eaten or anywhere she's dined. Isn't that what dining out should be? Different and fun? I think so. Regards, you nailed it. Thank you. I cannot wait to return.

Salty, fussy, overpriced food. Spend your dollar elsewhere.

We were told to order all of our choices(small plates) at once, and they would be spaced out. We received three of the choices one right after the other. When we said it was too fast, we were told they needed our table! We had not even been there a half an hour. It was a very uncomfortable and I enjoyable experience. In addition, the food was totally oversalted. Would never recommend this restaurant.

The good: The waitresses (kind), the cocktails, the ambience, and the hamachi collar (perfectly cooked and delicious with butter lettuce, blue tostados, and a delicious sauce). The bad: very slow service, the live scallop ($8 for one 1/2” scallop, good flavor but laughable portion), the avocado dish (nice fresh tostado but drowning in chili oil maybe? Soooo greasy.), the arroz con cangrejo (so salty as to be inedible, soaked in soy sauce maybe? My husband tried to pick out the crab.). It gets fantastic reviews. Maybe it was just a really “off” night?
