Outstanding meal with varying and great flavors plus excellent presentation. Fantastic service. Fantastic pre-theatre meal!
Missed a bit more basque feeling, the restaurant is very good but it is NOT how a typical basque restaurant looks
Amazing service. In my opinion the team adds value to the place. However, very small portions for hight price. 10 mussels with onions for 2 for over £40????
This was a return to a favourite London restaurant. Last night was very busy and the service wasn’t quite up to its usual five star quality. All in all though this is a special venue with a great ambience and food to match
Exciting dishes on the menu, great taste of the Basque cuisine. Nice and very relaxing atmosphere
Delicious food. We grabbed the pre-theatre menu - excellent value. Beetroot Tartare was superb.
I was very hungry and ordered an extra from the menu- Suckling Pig Tempura - a brilliant dish which takes some days to construct , with slow cooked and pressed suckling pig, which is then formed into tempura before serving.
Basque vanilla sponge is a deceptively simple, brilliantly textured dessert
Food is served to share which is a nicely informal. Service was attentive and very good and the restaurant interior is beautiful
I have eaten several times at Eneko and always rated the food at five stars for its innovation and tastes. However, this time I am downgrading my rating significantly due to the cost of drinks which have become much more of a mark up compared to other similar restaurants in London. A good but not terribly special glass of wine for £18.50. A bottle for a wine that might be bought on the high street for £18-20 (I compared) on the menu at £79. A non alcoholic beer which on the high street is £1 but on the menu for £7. Similar for coffees, etc., very expensive. It is sad, as this is a go to restaurant for me for foodies as the food is excellent and fairly priced but the drinks have finally become outrageous. Finally, the service is excellent EXCEPT that they push the wine, pouring it without asking (this is just rude and greedy). On this occasion I was paying (did not mind) and the two people who did drink in our group with one carafe, one glass, and two coffees, far surpassed the food bill, resulting in a bill of £150 for a set menu of two dishes each plus alcohol. No longer worth it, which is sad, unless one goes and does not get any drinks. Note the server steered the people to the wine we got, and there was little I could say at the time without being rude.
Creative cuisine, lovely presentation, great atmosphere - we look forward to return again soon
The food is beautiful, particularly the clams and hake and the staff are lovely
As usual the food and tastes at Eneko were outstanding. We have been to Eneko on four occasions now and each time it has been a different experience. On this occasion the sharing plates were so varied and had very special flavours. We still enjoy the house Basque wine, as it too is different.
We'll be visiting again soon.
This is an amazing place to eat great Spanish food.
Amazing experience. Have been to Basque country myself and in my opinion it's a perfect mix of creative and authentic food, but with a touch of a tipical London Top restaurant to it. Great cava as well
A truly excellent meal. Wonderful food, beautifully served. Nice quiet ambience. Very attentive and efficient staff.
We had a fantastic time. Every dishes were delicious, the team very welcoming and knowledgeable. It was a perfect evening from A to Z! Oriane
We were in London before a cruise to Spain. The basque food and wines here really made us eager to start our trip. The staff was so kind, even giving us tips on where to go in Bilbao. LOVED the lamb!
The food was great, but the staff just need to relax and be less intrusive when they can see two people having a conversation. we don’t need to be constantly interrupted by very keen and chirpy waiting staff asking how our evening is going. They could also drop the introductory spiel about the decor - you either care or you don’t, and being told about it is unnecessary. Otherwise good basque cooking including pork belly tempura amongst other tasty bites. Presented with Instagram in mind.
It was as unplanned night with a great location and great food
The food was delicious and the service was good but unfortunately the portion sizes were ridiculously small. We ate from the pre-theatre menu (two courses + 1 side) and got a ‘larger’ plate each, which was steak (three slithers which they claimed were 130-150g, but was more like 100g) and tempered hake (three small balls). The small plates (starters) were far bigger than the ‘large’ ones!! I wish I had taken a picture to prove how small it was. We did feedback and were given a small piece of cake to share between the theee of us, but we still left hungry and our pockets £82 lighter for the pleasure. It would have been better if they offered us a partial refund or an additional side or something which was more filling than a small cake three ways. Afterwards we had to buy more food to last us through the show we were seeing (Tina, it was great). Funnily enough we mentioned in the shop we were buying food what has happened and the lady behind the counter told us we were the fourth set of people to come in that day and complain about the portion sizes at Eneko so it certainly wasn’t just us being greedy. Such a shame as the actual food itself was sensational!!
Service was really good - and the food was delicious. I took my friend here for her birthday and they gave her a birthday dessert on the house.
Please add suitable number of plates into the menu.
The dark ambience with candle light was great. The service very attentive and the food on the set menu was absolutely delicious. The Basque white wine was a very pleasant surprise. Smart and classy place, I will definitely be back.
Tremendous modern Spanish cooking. Great meeting x of ingredients, not too complicated, technically very good and beautifully presented.
Sr. Eneko Atxa should feel thoroughly ashamed of his involvement in this restaurant. A very mediocre bistro with appallingly bad service at Michelin star prices.
First off, the service - in one word, brutal from start to finish. The waiting staff dressed randomly in a variety of odd costumes appear to be students on work experience and have clearly received little or no training.
Our first course was slapped down on the table, still on the carrying tray that brought it from the kitchen like a McDonalds, until rescued by someone with half a brain. Wine didn't appear until the 3rd course and even that required 4 requests and reminders. It’s safe to say, things didn’t get any better.
So, the food. Eneko London relies on the 3 Michelin star chef's name to draw in diners. With a high price point for some of the small plates and eye-watering prices for slightly larger plates, we expected perfection. Unfortunately, what we received was amateur, tasteless and bordering on the inedible. Certainly not the experience that was promised and expected.
Suckling Pig Tempura, under seasoned, over cooked and oily. Marinated Red Mullet, unexpectedly served raw. Braised Pork Cheeks, small portion at £18 overcooked and served in an extremely tacky and poorly constructed wooden pig's head. Grilled Octopus at £19 was overcooked, burned and tough (not slightly charred and tender as it should be). Finally, Hake Tempura £18 for 4 small pieces were no better than my local chippy can produce.
I could go on and on but just 2 more points.
Firstly, they seem to have received a job lot of bland, tateless pea puree which featured randomly in some way or another on every dish. Even the side of new potatoes came with stuck together with the stuff.
Secondly, the whole lot was delivered from the kitchen in a single job lot, so most of it was stone cold by the time we were half way through.
Safe to say, I will not be visiting again and will advise others to do the same.
We enjoyed our pre-theatre. The food was very good and the service was attentive and helpful. The Basque inspired dishes on Eneko's menu were a tasty and welcome alternative to other, more traditional cuisines which are offered in the West End. A very nice change.
Very good restaurant, great food, first quality ingredients and the staff was amazing also.
we will come back for sure.
Really lovely food, service and atmosphere. Quiet place for cosy dinner.
Delicious food, friendly and attentive staff, good value set lunch menu, will definitely return.
Came here for dinner after seeing the beautifully presented meals on trip advisor. It was a little hit and miss for me because being a non meat eater there was not too many choices but I was happy to fit in and managed to find some things. The rice starter with clams and garlic was very flavoursome. The steak tartare is beautifully presented but a little on the small side. The calamari is served whole in black squid ink and stuffed with something ?meat......the main courses were hake in batter, four small pieces and the batter tasted like doughnuts and the pork cheeks. The pork cheeks were very tender and fell apart. These were a hit. We did not have deserts. We chose a lovely red wine for about £45.00 one of the cheapest on the menu...... Overall it was fine, I would return to try a different menu.
Beautiful presentation, lovely complex flavours, shared plates allow you to sample a number of options. Service excellent! High-end price-wise.
Everything about our dining experience was exceptional. The scallops, in particular, were amazing! We’re very picky about seafood and it was perfection. The flavors and combinations were well paired and we were so pleased!
Restaurant and bar are very nice, however the overall experience didn’t really match up to our hopes. Nothing wrong with the food, just didn’t reach the heights that we wanted. Charcuterie was good, beetroot tartare excellent, clams were too few and no shells, hake and pork cheeks were okay. Service was friendly and what you expect for a restaurant of this price range.
This restaurant provides quick services, unique dishes, and reasonable wine. The bar is good for dating on a special night, waiting for a table, and one shot before a theater visit. The vibe inside is far from that of outside. It’s worth visiting.
Was excited to visit after visiting their two amazing Bilbao restaurants. It didn’t disappoint and would highly recommend it
This was a great restaurant - we went there as we’d been very impressed with the food in Bilbao and thus didn’t disappoint. Beautifully prepared dishes - a feast for all the senses! We tried squid, pork cheeks, croquetas, peppers, rice and more. There are 4 of us which allowed us a good selection. Portions are small but quality is high. My least favourite was the squid in ink but others on the table loved it! The wine list is short but good and the cocktails perfect for a pre-dinner drink. We’ll be back when we next feel like some top Spanish food.
I came to Eneko only a few days after I had visited Spain’s Basque region and I have to admit I came in suffering a little “Basque food fatigue”. However the food here was a revelation - every bite of every dish was absolutely outstanding - and every dish was a surprise. The highlights for me were the Iberico - not much inventiveness needed here but quality is everything and it was fabulous! And the Octopus - which I am still dreaming about - tender as butter and chock-full of flavor - the best part of my evening. Wine list was OK - very reasonably priced and decent - but lacking in “big hitters” if that’s what your thing is. It’s not a super cheap restaurant but for the quality of the food it is extremely good value for money. I would certainly go back next time I’m in London - and have already sent friends.
A great restaurant all round. The only negative point was where our table was. The restaurant wasn't that busy at the time and we were seated next to other diners, about 10 inches inbetween our tables which made it difficult to have a conversation without over hearing the next table. It didn't spoil our experience, but as there were at least 15 tables unoccupied, we could have been spread out a little.
A great place in London to enjoy basque food. Great service!
Been previously the lamb is so soft and tasty. We also had the octopus which was really delicious. Everything was really great, staff were knowledgeable and friendly. All in all a successful afternoon out.
The pre-theatre menu is extremely reasonably priced and the servers are all so welcoming. Try the beef cheeks. And the fish tempura. And the marshmallow desert. And the raspberry mojito. In fact, just try it all - it's all delicious and designed for sharing (so you don't have to be afraid of food envy).
With a great central location, a gorgeous setting (be prepared to be surprised at this visual gem hidden underneath the hotel) and prompt service, I'm definitely going back the next time I go to see a show.
