Food was awful, my mother sent a side salad back because she asked for no oil or dressing on it and never received it back, so paying £12 pound for a small piece of gammon and pouched egg. Nearly everything on the menu is fried which doesn’t help people that are on diet plans etc. I had a burger where the bun was wet and soggy, I could of got better standard at a weatherspoons. Overall a horrible experience and I will not be returning. Overpriced horrible rubbish. The worst thing is we were not the only people to complain that night either. Worse pub food I have ever encountered.

The service by all the staff was excellent.
We had a Butchers Block, the meat was lovely but sadly most of the veg was only just warm.

We would return but the service downstairs in the ‘basement’ was so slow, some of the food was cold when it arrived and had to be sent back. It was an hour between starters and mains and we had to have our ordered chased. Disappointing

Staff were friendly, the food however was mediocre and pricey for what it was. There were not 10 chicken wings as stated and they were dry and over cooked. I find it strange how the whitebait came served with heads on as in my experience they always come headless. There were only 3 lamb koftas which I’d expect more for nearly £5 a portion. The trio of sausage was just awful, the Yorkshire pudding like cardboard and the gravy was horrible. When it came to paying there had been an extra pint put on the bill and we hadn’t received 3 small plates for £12.95, the waitress changed this but even after bill added up to £65 when it should have only been £62. We informed the bar staff as we were paying by card, she didn’t understand why this was either and changed this for us. Staff were brilliant. We were greeted on entry, sat at a table quickly and they kept coming and checking on us, the food and the bill situation however let our experience down.

Mid week meal, nice place very good service from friendly staff. The three mixed starters to share very nice. Main course fine though deep fried chicken bit dry and heavy going in my opinion. Knickerbocker glory to share, think we were expecting a fruit one but it was chocolate. Unfortunately the Timothy Taylors was off. All in all good and would go again and sample something different from the menu.

This was the worst meal my wife and I have ever had in this place. The pork belly was string and tough and both our meals were just swimming in gravy. The noise level was so high that we couldn't hear what the staff were saying. Lot of it caused by a child at one table who did nothing but cry and scream nearly all the way through it's meal. We have now decided that it is a place that we will give a wide berth to in future.

I used to recommend it to my vegan and veggie friends for its extensive and interesting selection of vegan and veggie food, but they seem to have had a change of policy and they now have just the normal pub type choices, veggie burger, curry, humours, homily pie, etc the latter I had and I wasn’t that impressed, certainly wasn’t I was used to as homily pie, just pastry a bit of potato and a white sauce of some sort. I do hope they go back to the more interesting menu.

Service has never been fast.

The service from one waitress was exceptional. The food was phenomenal and very much worth the money. The decor was stunning with everywhere feeling very clean and hygienic. All the staff were friendly and the seating was spread out so never felt too busy. The outdoor seating facilities were amazing especially on a sunny day it made the experience much more enjoyable.
All the food tasted beautiful there are no complaints and hope to visit again soon

I am a regular of this place and I am really sad to say it looks like they've changed hands or something as the menu and general way the place is ran is totally different to a few months ago.

the service was terrible I had to ask for drinks and the bill more than once. all the tapas is deep fried gresy tasteless rubbish and the cocktails were weak and the mojito wasn't even made with crushed ice just weak awful drinks.

we were given a free dessert for our troubles but it still wasn't worth £53 for 2 of us and we only had 2 drinks each 3 tapas dishes and the bread they brought out was a sliced loaf of bread!! I sent it back and they then came out with different bread.

We won't be back and I won't be wasting any more of my money there - the old menu was amazing as was the food and service. what a shame!!

We were visiting the area for the weekend and booked up this restaurant. The food was excellent and service was okay. We ate on the lower ground floor which sounded a bit ominous but was in fact a really nice space.
Great value for money

Rushed from the minute we arrived. Felt the meal was what was left at the end of the “very busy day” despite it only being 7.30pm we were told the kitchen closed in 5 minutes. Many menu items had run out. The food was very poor with cloggy, dry mashed potatoes, congealed gravy, tasteless carrots, anaemic roast potatoes and a well presented vegan pie that was 95% filled with air and a tasteless vegan cheddar reduction I’m guessing.

Very disappointed as have been a few times. Never again!

We go occasionally for Sunday Lunch, and previously enjoyed good food and good service. However we noticed a number of new staff who just about "did a job". The food was average, for example I ordered the Halibut special which came with 7 potatoes on the plate and nothing else! I had to ask for vegetables.
My wife and I shared a sweet, which really was inedible. Supposed to be raspberry and coconut with sorbet.
Won't be returning again in a hurry!!

We enjoyed our first visit, the young lady serving did get one of the orders wrong and it the wait for the correct order was too long so we just had the meal that was brought out. She did apologise and it was rectified at the end by a manager with a discount, which we appreciate. The food was great and the decor is fresh and modern. We would come again, thank you.

Took my brother, his wife and my mother for Sunday lunch. We were early eaters and never felt pressure to vacate our table even though it got busier as the day went on. My brother is a chef himself and is usually super critical, but apart from his starter, which he warranted an ok overall he was impressed with quality and price. I'm looking forward to coming back again

Visited the Horse and Jockey in the evening for the first time. Lovely pub with a nice, buzzing atmosphere. It was busy but still found a nice quiet corner to sit in . Ate in the restaurant side which, although on the cool side had a nice decor and feel about it. The menu offered a good choice. 3 in our party had the sirloin steak which was quite expensive at £22 for a 10oz steak with a choice of sauce and with one choice of side, so not a lot for the money. One person had the salmon which was delicious but again, not a huge portion. All in all we enjoyed it and the food was nice although a little on the expensive side for what you got.

We had a lovely meal. The pub was recommended by a friend, who is Vegan. Although we aren't vegan, it was good to see so many options on the menu, which makes a nice change to just having one vegan option.

I have recommended this to my parents, who will visit soon and we will definitely be back in the future.

Had Sunday roast. Lamb fatty and undercooked. Roast potatoes dry and not fresh. Food just warm and not good value, there were very few vegetables.
Seated in basement which we didn't like as it was dark for daytime. Inappropriate loud music.
For the price it should have been much better.

My friend and I were welcomed as soon as we entered The Horse & Jockey. We were seated promptly and given enough time to look through the menu before placing our order. There were a number of specials on top of the normal menu and the food was reasonably priced. It didn’t take long for our food to arrive and the waiter Brandon was very pleasant and attentive without being obtrusive. The only downside was that it wasn’t very warm in the restaurant to start with as we were the first in at 5.45. It did warm up a little when other customers arrived. Overall though a very nice experience and I would recommend it to friends and family.

Have recommended lots of friends to dine at this venue and it’s sister pub White Hart at Moorwood Moor, in fact a friend is having his wedding there in June and only looked at the venue after I’d suggested it ! Will not be going back to the Horse and Jockey, arrived early, was seated at our table 15 mins before our booking time but waited for an hour for the less than average first course to arrive, mains arrived and were dry and over cooked! Completely ruined Valentines Day thanks to the Horse and Jockey
