Gjelina is a restaurant that serves locally-sourced, produce-forward food with menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. Our first location Gjelina LA in Venice Beach opened in 2008 becoming a staple in the local community. We are currently open for lunch, brunch, and dinner services.

Think labneh on toast with grape jam and sea salt, pizzas topped with confit tomatoes and smoked mozzarella, and salads studded with burrata and honeynut squash.     Arrived on a chilly rainy night and were offered a table in the front room with zero ambiance and in direct line to the front door. I said given the weather that didn’t work and they managed to put us at the bar. Too many staff interruptions refilling water, checking on us too many times, etc. overly attentive and not in a good way. We asked if we were ordering too much food and were advised to take the last dish to “round out the order”. Way too much food which I didn’t appreciate. The Venice location is one of my favorites and has so much more charm. I will not be returning to this one and had heard great things.

    We love Gjelina LA and were excited to try the NY version closer to home. As expat Californians we were thrilled to see a similar veg forward menu that did not dissappoint - the snap peas in particular were delicious, as was the AMAZING kampachi . The pizzas were wonderful, as always, the guanciale, a star. The wines were great, the service attwntive and friendly, and the decor was gorgeous - more edge and elegance than LA. Unfortunately we were seated upstairs near the large table (near the stairs.) There was an obnoxiously loud group nearby and their volume made it nearly impossible to hear each other. The two other nearby tables noticed it too. It was a real distraction and dampened the evening spirits. I wish these sort of large, boisterous parties could be separated from the rest of the diners. That said, we will be back.

    Life-long New Yorker found pizza heaven at Gjelina. And you can’t beat the atmosphere at this picture-perfect spot on Bond. Cannot recommend more highly.

    The staff is so welcoming and friendly and the pizzas and salads are very good. Love the feeling of the space- edgy but soothing with the minimally adorned walls. Love everything about Gjelina.

    I had a great time here! Was continuously awed by each dish, cocktail, and glass of wine. Ambiance was chic and fun. Highly recommend!
