Conceived with legendary chef and food activist Alice Waters and led by acclaimed chef, writer, and cookbook author David Tanis, Lulu is a shared celebration of good food that is good for the planet. Lulu is a restaurant committed to prioritizing sustainability through local, regenerative food and design. Our mission focuses on procuring food directly from small, nearby farms practicing regenerative organic agriculture, which results in wholesome, delicious food grown using methods that combat the climate crisis.

Our restaurant is named after a wise Provencal cook, Lulu Peyraud, whose cooking and hospitality at Domaine Tempier in Bandol, France has always inspired David and Alice.

The atmosphere at Lulu is relaxing, like being in an urban garden. It's a great place for people watching. Noise levels can vary. Today, it was blessedly quiet without music, but on a prior occasion when I had intended to lunch there, the volume of music played was a complete turnoff, and I just kept walking. The quality of food is good, however there are some problems with the wine list. I sampled three red wines, each was overly acidic with absolutely no fruit, and the Cab Franc I ordered was chilled colder than most white wines should be served. I guess the sommelier doesn't know we've moved on from the In Pursuit of Balance days. I gave up and had iced tea instead. Now you might decide to write this off to my personal taste, however I spent twenty years in the wine industry. My last gripe with Lulu is their tipping policy, and not for the reasons you might think. They automatically add an 18% gratuity, which is shared with all restaurant staff. The problem is with the wording on the bill. It actually gives the impression that the guest shouldn't feel obligated to leave more. That is an insult to the workers. Most of us leave at least 20%, and your wording actually discourages guests from tipping more than 18%. Terrible, inequitable policy. Do better.

I'm not long home from our very special lunch at LuLu, celebrating a dear friend for her 90th birthday. We all loved it, especially our honoree. Nathan, our server, was delightful (as always). He made not only the birthday girl feel special but all three of us. The food was flavorful, delicious and perfectly timed and presented. Lovely dessert treats with a candle were very much appreciated! Thank you so very much.

It's difficult to choose what brings us to LuLu, the beautiful food, the exquisite wine list and the serene setting are equally responsible for our returning again and again.

The thoughtfully prepared farm to table dishes were delicious and beautifully presented with outstanding attention to detail with every ingredient. Highlights included the baked goat cheese starter and the gnocchi. Unfortunately service did not match the food’s high standards with long waits to be acknowledged throughout, exceptionally long wait times for main courses, and empty beverages for much of our meal. Would still recommend based on the excellent food and lovely ambiance.

Each time we come it's even more remarkable. Prix Fixe was inventive and wonderfully flavorful with elderberry and chicory a perfect pairing with the chicken. Seasonal figs and stone fruits with burrata and prosciutto also other-worldly. Well done.

Great outdoor dinning !! Wonderful place to catch up with friends and family. You actually can hear yourself talk!!! That is a major plus. Food was spectacular. SO FRESH !!! The service was exceptional.

My recent visit to Lulu was marked by moments of delight and a few small disappointments. To start, the stuffed squash flowers with ricotta were simply divine. Their delicate flavor and creamy texture truly awakened my taste buds and set the stage for the rest of the meal. However, the main course, featuring scallops, left a bitter taste. While I appreciated their freshness, they were only cooked in butter, without any sauce, which limited their flavor. Additionally, their cut was a bit too small, and the choice of polenta as a side dish didn’t make sense, especially knowing that the scallops were not seasoned. For dessert, the cheese selection was disappointing. Varieties like Manchego, Chevrot, and Tomme de Savoie, which could have shone with richness, unfortunately fell flat. A touch of creativity could have transformed this moment into a true celebration of flavors. On the positive side, I must praise the service provided by an exceptional young woman. Her attentive service and brilliant wine recommendations added a personal and warm touch to our experience. Unfortunately, a small issue disrupted this harmony. Instead of enjoying her continuous presence, we were soon surrounded by at least four different servers, each coming to ask us every ten minutes if we needed anything or to remove dishes that were still half-finished. This lack of coordination in the service made the experience slightly unpleasant, as I would have preferred to enjoy a more relaxed meal without these frequent interruptions. In summary, Lulu is an exceptional place, beautiful and pleasant for an evening out. With a few adjustments in dish preparation and better service organization, this restaurant could truly become a gastronomic hotspot.
