We had a lovely meal last night celebrating our wedding anniversary. Once seated the staff brought us both a complementary glass of champagne each which was such a lovely touch. Excellent food and great service.
Great service, great cocktails and the food was firsr class! Will definitely visit again.
Great service and really lovely, tasty food with the exception of the pizza. My husband really didn’t enjoy his pizza unfortunately. The rest of the food was great, especially the risotto.
First class service and food! Despite being unable to locate our booking staff were very accommodating and we had a great meal!
Lovely restaurant. Food great. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Would definitely recommend
From the moment we arrived we received a warm friendly greeting from the staff. The atmosphere was welcoming and with 2 young children in the party our waitress was brilliant. The service was well paced so didn't feel rushed between courses. The food was exceptional even though one person had to wait a while for their main course. This was taken into account when we came to pay the bill. For a party of 7 the bill was very reasonable and good value for money. Will be back soon
Great night for my wife and I’s 28th wedding anniversary. The best steak I’ve ever eaten and all round great night, thank you.
Really nice bar and restaurant, cosy but modern and friendly. staff great and welcoming. Sean was super as front of house and even helped me out arranging a taxi to get to you!! amazing.
On the whole I would highly recommend Residence as the Atmosphere and Vibe were bang on. It's a vibrant up market bar. I ate there with friends and initially had the intention of going elsewhere later for drinks but ended up staying there for the night due to the great atmosphere and great service.
The only thing I was disappointed with was the value for money of my meal. I had the Panfried Chicken for £16. Whilst it was really nice I felt it was quite poor value for money as it was small and was accompanied by minimal boiled Veg. Given that a friend had a seafood platter for a similar price and almost double the amount of food on there plate just felt this a little unbalanced.
As I said tho on the whole I'd highly recommend Residence for it's atmosphere and service.
Sorry, but it was too loud whilst eating to chat, we were on a child free meal, food portions small especially for the price. Service for drinks slow!
Lovely food and great atmosphere. Service was good considering it was a busy Saturday night.
We had a great time and will be back soon.
Decor is lovely since the refurb! Had a lovely lunch with my bridesmaids. Is veggie friendly but a couple more options would be nice! I had a Guide dog in training with me and the staff were happy for him to be there and got him some water without me asking. Lovely staff, attentive but not over the top and felt relaxed not rushed. Nice atmosphere and I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable bill.
Good service, food was time perfectly to the table. Steak cooked to perfection and the Prawn started was beautiful.
The atmosphere is great, our server was excellent, friendly and helpful with a food intolerance. The food was outstanding.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Great atmosphere in the bar, live music was great.
Cocktails 🍹 wonderful.
Had been given a voucher so decided to give the place a go ..bar area really good great atmosphere considering it was early and perhaps thats where we should of stayed.
Resturant looked tired and dated compared to bar . Pretty average really that goes for service and the food. We would go back for drinks before going onto somewhere else. But wouldnt rush back too eat.
Nice choice of dishes. Good service and lovely ambiance.
Ate on a Wednesday evening and was pretty quiet (this must be usual as they advertise 'bring your own wine on a Wednesday and we won't charge you corkage'), but we like quiet and consequently the service was quick and attentive.
Very steak and sauce, also good fish.
We are on Sober October so can't comment on the cocktails but there were no Mocktails, so had to settle for Tonic water which there were no diet varieties.
Very good value and atmosphere, would go again.
Also they have their own parking places outside the front door, so very handy.
A lovely building, and having its own car park was a bonus. The décor was very attractive, and the staff were pleasant. Two of us had burgers, which were nicely presented, and tasted good, but our friend had battered fish that was aweful - batter was soggy and fish not good - the management did offer to replace it but it was declined. In fairness my friend's meal and coffee were not charged for.
We will certainly go again, but make different choices for lunch
Bit of a mixed review. I am a local and usually visit for a drink in the evening.
Lovely building and decor.
The staff are always really friendly and helpful.
Thought we would try the Sunday roast as we have not had this before.
The website said there was a choice of beef, chicken or pork. We only eat chicken so checked this before we booked. However, on arrival we were told they only did beef and don't do chicken roasts. To be fair though the waitress did have a word with the chef who agreed to prepare two chicken roasts as a " one off" and we might have to pay extra. Unsure why chicken is more expensive? Anyway we didn't have to pay any more when the bill came. We also ordered cauliflower cheese with the roasts but it didn't arrive. The waitress did apologise and said it was her fault and we wouldnt be charged for it. When it did arrive we were already more than half way through our meal and it was a bit too late. We were charged for it.
Lastly we were freezing! The room was very cold. The heating was turned on when we mentioned it but we were so cold. Sorry to be a bit negative here but we were a bit disappointed. We will still come to Residence for drinks/cocktails. The atmostphere is lovely and like I said previously the staff are very nice.
perfect place to enjoy a catch up over lunch - food and drinks great, service good also.
Excellent- this place never disappoints and staff are very helpful
Service was a little slow, we had to chase most things up twice. I was also surprised at how noisy the restaurant was. It’s not the restaurants fault but why clientele can’t have some consideration for other diners I have no idea
Service was excellent. Food was fantastic apart from desert which was hard and like cake rather than a brownie
Nice ambience and the food was excellent.
The restaurant was not very busy so maybe the service could have been slightly better. But overall a great experience.
Really enjoyed my first dining experience will definitely be returning
On the whole the meal was good however I and a friend who ordered the Chateaubriand felt a little short changed to be frank. I've had Chateaubriand many times and it's usually more than ample for two people. The Chateaubriand on this evening was barely enough for two people and we both wish we'd just ordered separate steaks. What we had was nice but it was just not a full Chateaubriand and at £47 I'd expect more.
There didn’t seem to be enough staff for the amount of dinners. all staff where very nice but a couple of staff where forgetful. We were shown to our table by one waitress and asked if we wanted water, so asked for tap water, it never arrived until a second waitress asked us for a drinks order and she then brought the water, after our meal We also asked to see the desert menu, this never arrived so we just asked for the bill!!
The food in general was good, however the seafood linguine was very poor. The food is also expensive and therefore not good value for money.
Disappointed that the lunch menu was no longer available and only a la carte which I found expensive.
I have visited frequently in the past but probably not in the future due to this.
I would not return to your restaurant it was very disappointing
I'd been here before for afternoon tea which was lovely but the meal we had the other day wasn't so good. The service was fine and it was quiet. Two of us had fish and chips which was a real disappointment, watery, greasy and tasteless. The other two meals (salmon) were ok though. It's a nice place - maybe we caught it on an off day.
I only gave the food and overall rating 4 stars because a fair few items listed on the menu were not available. As it happens 3, of the group of six i was with, had to have their second choice as a result - one had to have second choice dessert. As well, the hanging skewered dishes had little on them
That being stated the food served was delicious and the service and staff great...I assume this could have been 'just one of those days'!
The food arrived cold. The flat rump steak portion size was small, the quality of the dish was low and did not reflect the £16 price. I was very disappointed
Prefer the main course to include veg ,and chips in larger quantities
Quiet night made very enjoyable by company and great staff. Not forgetting very good food!!
Food was excellent, the service was very good, a little bit noisy but worth going. Recommended.
Lovely place and great choice of food beer and wine.
The restaurant was quite noisy when we walked in but we realised that was the bar area, fortunately we weren’t eating in there. The restaurant area itself was very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered was very healthy and of good quantity. We really enjoyed ourselves. The only thing I was disappointed in was the drink I ordered.I asked for a lime and soda.I presume real limes were used rather than the usual lime cordial, but I struggled to drink it.It really wasn’t nice!
Food good, service excellent but for the second time on subsequent visits someone else’s food and drinks added to our bill. Quickly rectified with an apology but not good that it happened in the first place.
Did not get off to a good start as the restaurant claimed to NOT have a booking even though I had booked via their website. We found the food quite bland-my satay chicken skewers starter was quite tasteless. We shared chateaubriand for main course which was vastly overpriced for what we got-sliced fillet steak but one large tomato with ONE mushroom and chips-never before has chateaubriand been serviced with such sparse veg also we had to pay £3.95 each extra for sauces, we had had this dish many times over the years and it always includes veg and sauces.
Best part of the meal was the pud of home-made meringue and strawberries.
Great food and ambience. Excellent service. Lovely evening all round.
