Great food, service, and the price is reasonable for such a fresh and amazing meal. I had the turkey burger - so good! A must try!

Our first visit to Borealis for my brother-in-law’s 80th birthday, 6 of us in total. Absolutely amazing lunch menu selection, food and service was excellent and we really enjoyed the ambience of the restored school house.

Ernesto was our Server and we were so impressed with his friendliness, knowledge of the menu and suggestions. Absolutely the best Server that I have ever encountered, A+++ in every regard. We were there for over 2 1/2 hours and he was there for us at every moment.

Definitely will return.

Monday night is 2 for 1 appetizers. We tried the Brie and the red pepper dip appetizers, both were delicious. The Elk and Pork Tortiere was very tasty. It sits on top of a bed of greens and small potatoes. Highly recommended. Friendly and professional service...well done. The building is old and has a lot of history so it is always an interesting topic! I come here frequently and I'm never disappointed! Thank you, a lovely evening!

Unless you’re sitting on the patio or upstairs it’s like being in the cafeteria in high school. We waited 30 minutes between the time we were seated to the time we finally asked our waitress for a drink menu. And then another 40 minutes for our drinks. Simple drinks gin and soda, a gin martini, a lemon drop martini and a rye and Coke. The restaurant did not seem that busy. That should Chaucuterie board that was supposed to come with a variety of meats and cheeses Came with three tiny wedges of Bree a whole pile of apples cut up to look like they were cheese right next to the cheese, and about seven slices of salami. There is absolutely no variety and was hardly worth the price. It was if they ran out of food and figured people would not know any better if they added filler instead of telling us they were low on product. I really hope that that’s not what they normally serve. A variety of cheese would imply more than 3 tiny wedges of brie. And a variety of local needs would imply more than just salami. Once we ordered our meals and appetizers, everything came in a timely fashion. The fish and chips are amazing. My husband didn’t like the steak option.

Friendly but slow. Seemed understaffed. Other diners were complaining too. Good starters. Pickerel was good but the salad looked it was dumped out of a box of mixed greens from the supermarket with 2 halves of a baby tomato and a sprinkling of shredded carrot. Amazing desserts.

Friendly, attentive service. Prefer upstairs to the downstairs area where we were situated. Food was delicious with one exception. Two of us ordered Caesar salads -- for the price of $12.95 each, I think. The salads were underwhelming. The dressing was "meh" and bland. None of the wonderful ingredients of a Caesar were noticeable -- anchovies, lemon, olive oil, garlic and Parmesan. Also, a Caesar is better served on a plate than in a bowl, in my opinion. I won't be ordering a Caesar again.

Thanks for your feedback Henriette! I'm so happy you enjoyed your meal! Please let us know of any seating preferences and we will always do our best to accommodate if possible. With our focus on local cuisine, anchovies and olive oil are not part of our caesar salad recipe, however we're happy to provide a lemon upon request. I'd recommend on your next visit perhaps the Tomato + Feta Salad, the fermented tomato and tarragon vinaigrette is a delicious savoury dressing I think you'd enjoy!

It’s not like me to give the F&B industry a second chance. My theory is that your game has to be on at all times.

That said, following my last experience at Borealis, their management got in touch with me to address my concerns.
I value sincere communication and I feel like this VERY RARELY happens in this industry.

I decided to give them a second chance. Redeem themselves they did.
Food and service were spot on.

I’m glad I gave them a second chance. I would recommend and return again!

Food was excellent, fair to slightly expensive but their food is local so it’s understandable. The service was alright, pretty typical but nothing special. Overall we were happy with our diner. If you like good/sustainable food that you can feel good about eating, and don’t have high expectations for service you will really like this place.

Great food and service. Always enjoy going to Borealis. Highly recommend this place for families, friends, and couples. Had the fish tacos and they were excellent, good portions and perfectly cooked. My husband had the duck confit and was very happy with it. The daily soup (Curried chickpea) was really good, glad we tried it.

My son took my there for my birthday back in March and it was amazing so we decided to go there for Father's Day dinner. We were quite disappointed. I'm not sure if it was because it was busier and the time of day but I'm not sure I will go back. The ribs my husband had were over-sauced, my son's steak came out cut up for him, he is 20 and can cut his own steak. They ordered dessert, the vanilla cheesecake and it was more like a custard. There was no substance to the cake in that you could have poured it out of the ramakin. For the price we paid it wasn't worth it this time. Sorry guys.

Restaurant was way too loud. Food was ok...nothing I would order again. "Seasonal veg" should be something better than potatoes and carrots in June. Absolutely nothing on dessert menu that was inspiring in the least. And that's unheard of for me! Good concept but a miss in my books.

Our go-to restaurant. There’s always something on the menu that fills my craving. We enjoy the dining room, dimly lighted and the historical photos lining the walls. It was a little chilly though.
We appreciate their efforts to use locally produced foods and their creativity using seasonal ingredients.
We enjoyed the elk pie, which included a nice sized bed of greens with a perfectly seasoned dressing. The accompanying duck confit potatoes did lack flavour and the bottom of the pie was a little undercooked unfortunately. (Likely due to a rush of visitors on a Saturday night.) I would however still order it again.
The dill in the tartar sauce for the fish is a really nice touch.
And we appreciate the beer sampler option to taste-test local breweries creations.
We were very pleased with the hazelnut and peach cake, frosted with buttermilk and cream cheese icing. So delicious that we even purchased another to bring home for the baby sitter.
