Scott Hallsworth was head chef of Nobu in Park Lane, London for six years. He opened Nobu Melbourne in his native Australia before returning to London to create Kurobuta, the Japanese Izakaya.
Freak Scene is Scott's new restaurant. We hope you like it.
Great food. Nice staff. Terrible service - just awful.
I don't remember the last time food sparked my taste buds. Must eat the fried chicken with peanut sauce and the roasted cauliflower!! Fun counter restaurant, visual food.
Great place- food is delicious! We ordered every single item from the menu! Staff are friendly yet still professional- entertainment was brilliant! My new favourite
Really fantastic restaurant with delicious food. They misssd one of our orders but apart from that it was really ezcwllent. Great vibes. Beef tatki very good.
2nd time now and as good as ever. simple well thought out menu, reasonably priced.
Very cool spot to start a fun night out. Good drinks, food is delicious and special!
The food was wonderful, creative and well presented. Try the crab avocado wonton bomb, or the aubergine. Also enjoyed the tea smoked lamb chops. Service was friendly. It’s a busy place and always lively. Music a bit too loud but it doesn’t detract too much from the overall experience. All seats are at the bar so not comfortable for more than 90 minutes or so.
Love Freakscene. Exciting cooking that tastes delicious in a laid back bar environment
We had a Great time there!!!
Such a fun spot with amazing and unique food! Go!!!
Fantastic food with lots of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. The wine was reasonably priced and good. The atmosphere was casual and cheerful and I would highly recommend for small groups before or after an event.
Bomb! Really solid food, and a great counter top vibe!
The food was delicious the staff were lovely I will definitely be going back!
A very short but expertly constructed and executed menu. The crab bombs are a must try and the mushroom dish was stellar. Good cocktails and a vibrant atmosphere make this a great place to go with friends or the other half but maybe not a first date.
Great place with awesome food. Service is not the best though.... too bad. But still overall a place to come back to!
A place with great buzz and fantastic food to match. The moment you walk in you feel alive! A four or five dishes that were fantastic and can't wait to get back.
Fantastic food, excellent cocktails & Scott & Farr are wonderful hosts. They talked us through the menu, we talked about industry stories (it’s a small world) & enjoyed it all immensely. Highly recommended!
Went for my birthday, didn’t disappoint! Had a lovely meal and some great cocktails- highly recommended!
Fantastic Food. Every single plate was delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly.
A really special place. Amazing flavours. Lovely people. Edgy, innovative, energetic, interesting. Love it. Love it.
Love the 90s alt vibe - very Soho!
Absolutely awesome place. The chicken fried chicken should NEVER be removed from the menu - will be back in a heartbeat!
Loved this place. Food is great, amazing small plates - especially the squid and Vietnamese lettuce rolls. The fact they show Takeshis Castle on a big screen just sealed my love for the place.
Great food, especially the squid! This is my 2nd visit and I can’t wait for the next one
Freak Scene is a wonderful find, the food is delicious - sort of fusion tapas. It’s all bar seating and, to be honest, service wad pretty slow. But I would definitely go back again!
A great atmosphere and open kitchen with chefs that are happy to chat and explain the dishes. Really great food, quite expensive but its worth it.
Fun dinner date with my boyfriend. The Chef made the special effort to respond to my email regarding gluten free options (I’m coeliac) and make sure there were suitable options on the menu. There were some good options but lots of food has miso or batter so was a bit limited or the nice bits were taken out ;)
Service was good though staff were very busy. Fun atmosphere with cool decor and music. A bit pricey but would recommend for a treat eat out.
Octopus doughnuts ! Are u kidding me? 🤯🤯 wow !!!! We wanted to try everything on the menu, but well... need bigger stomachs ! Everything we ate was so good ! Friendly staff AND great music !!!
Just simply awesome. Food and service. Will become a firm favourite to visit
Great buzz and atmosphere with incredible food concoctions
We choose this restaurant as the owner used to work for Nobu. As you would expect the food was great. Service was also good and it was a lively atmosphere. All of the seating is bar seating with no tables just so you know.
Fabulous lunch, food was excellent, very fresh and exciting and drinks were top quality
pounding bass through a cheap and nasty sound system, and staff who seem like they couldn’t care less about their customers’ dining experience, combined with food that’s probably delicious is cooked by the restaurant owner/ celebrity chef, but in the hands of lesser mortals just seems like clever but overly fried food. Don’t bother - this place won’t last long.
Just brilliant - absolutely brilliant, delicious and creative food, and run by fun, lovely people. And awesome music.
This is my fav restaurant of the moment. The informal set up of the restaurants with bar seats running along all the length of the L shaped deck conflicts completely with the high skill of its chefs who master informal bites of Asian food in a unique menu which satisfy even the most elegant palate. A friend recommended me to go. The food was absolutely to die for and very original. My favorite dishes were the tacos with Black cod and the pizza salmon sashimi and the rice bun with mini burgers and the pork belly in the lettuce leaf. I also loved the cocktails especially the Ape Spritz and the crisps of the house to start. The only downside was that the noise level is quite high and the room is quite buzzy which means that this place is very good for one to one rendez-vous but I would not suggest it for larger groups. Sometimes it was difficult to grab the attention of the staff because of the noise although they were super polite and nice when speaking to me.
Great place - Asian fusion but fun and great quality food!
Service was really good and everyone in the group enjoyed it
Nice is the best word to describe it - it wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t bad. It felt overpriced and service was slow, but a fun atmosphere.
Read a review in the Week magazine. And booked for an early evening meal with some friends. Being a pop-up, the decor seems to come from several previous incarnations, but who cares when the food is this good. Subtle, tasty, layered flavours and extremely inventive but simple presentation. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff are an asset to the establishment. Sit at the counter and watch the food being created in front of you, and chat to the chef. Call it Asian, Asian fusion, Asian tapas, call it what you will, it stirs all the senses, and I'll definitely return. Do yourselves a favour and get down there.
This is a place to go if there are 2 of you and you want to have fun. It could be a good first date place if you get to sit facing the bar. We were 4 people and you only sit in a row, so it was difficult to talk to anyone other than the person next to you. It's also very loud, which again is good if there are only 2 of you. We sat facing the wall, so it was a bit tricky. Food was good, but not amazing.
Big shoes to fill being located in the same venue as the original Barrafina but wow - what delicious food, wonderful staff and atmosphere. And best of all you can book. It's a great place to dine with friends but also solo as it's so buzzy.
