The menu reflects the seasons and incorporates seasons past with ferments and preserves.
Excelent restaurant. Chantal was brilliant, she knows what customer service mean. Their testing.menu was fa bu lous and the pairing wines perfect. We will definitely go back soon
Well done Hodge Podge team
Fabulous tasting menu. Takes away the effort of needing to choose. Will be back soon.
Amazing food and excellent service. Will definitely be back.
This is a lovely neighbourhood gem with beautiful, creative food. We tried a number of the dishes and they were all great. The pork and beans starter in particular was wonderful. Will definitely be back!
The most extraordinarily delicious meal ..depth and interest to every dish. 4 v satisfied customers.
Lovely setting, very friendly staff. Tasting menu was fantastic - and brilliant value at £29 pp. Good sized portions too.
Would highly recommend!
Hi Jim, Thank you for your review. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Simon & Chantal
Fantastic find. Will be back!
Lovely local restaurant with fine dining standards. Impeccable and friendly service. The food was delicious. Will definitely revisit and recommend.
Delicious food that's really pushing the boundaries of food. In a quiet spot and not too busy, which is a shame as it's great.
Dining at hodgepodge was a wonderful experience! The food was comforting yet experimental from the tuna and prawn toast and pork cheek to the goat and duck to the marathon choux. Simon (the cook) and Chantal/Chantelle (the sommelier) were a perfect combination delivering jaw droppingly amazing food and drink and providing a homely atmosphere to dine at. It was well worth the trip : )
Sensational food! Charming staff. Would highly reccommend.
Really nice dinning experience!
Everything is full of the most exquisite flavours. The dishes are imaginative and sometimes surprising, but always worth having. The wine list is similarly eclectic, and the team who run it are friendly and dedicated to their craft.
My 2nd time at this wonderful neighbourhood restaurant and the Christmas set menu didn't disappoint. Food is innovative and of great quality. Service is wonderful.
Really beautifully created inventive (but not silly) well presented food, charmingly served. What more could you ask for. Good value too
Interesting and inventive food. Served with care and enthusiasm.
Tasty and interesting good. If you want something different check it out.
However the whole restaurant was smokey to the point it was uncomfortable. The waitress didn't care when I told her
Unusual and delicious food, served with relaxed confidence and knowledge. Extremely good value even though the winelist moves quickly upwards. Hard to pick from our dishes but we all agreed the dessert was a stunning conclusion, a complex chocolate confection like nothing I have tasted before.
Go..make sure the place thrives: it brings something special to the area.
What a find! Highly recommend this North London gem. Fabulous front of house, delightful food and wine. Everything we ate was polished off, absolutely no complaints - about anything. We'll be back.
Delightful restaurant. Inspired cooking of excellent ingredients, including guinea fowl, which can be dry. The Japanese style pasta was full of depth and flavour, a winner for this vegetarian.
Really creative and inventive menu. The food was great, amazing flavours and so much thought had gone into the menu. Great service and very reasonable prices, will definitely be back
Interesting and unusual menu, everything was delicious. Lovely server. Wonderful wine list. I highly recommend Hodge Podge.
Brunch has a new hotspot! Really good food!
Gorgeous food from a talented chef. Amazing service from knowledgeable front of house. Really original. Incredible quality. Couldn't recommend more.
Simply the best!
Really fresh and delicious, creative cooking. Loved the “natural” wine too.
Service is a second to none by the lovely and very knowledgeable Chantal.
Tasty, imaginitave food and really personal service. Will definitely be going back!
This is a total gem! Gorgeous seasonal food beautifully cooked. The staff were passionate about what they were serving and how our experience was. We are we will definitely be back. Dazzling food that won't demolish your wallet.
Amazing food. Very different. Service exceptional. And the food was wonderful.
We had a frustrating meal at Hodge Podge. There is no denying the quality of the food - all was delicious and creative, with the exception of the chips and cheese my partner had which he found far too heavy and didn't enjoy at all. However sadly the restaurant is lacking on a few fronts. It's far too light and stark, and the restaurant had only a few people in when we were there on a Friday so the combination of the two things meant there was no atmosphere at all. Similarly the wine list, whilst creative and unusual, is very expensive. We also found the service to be slow and inattentive, which seemed poor especially when the restaurant was quite empty. The bill came to £130 for two starters, two mains and a bottle of wine - we've paid similar amounts for fantastic, special meals in London which ticked all the boxes, so sadly did leave feeling a bit cheated and disappointed after this one.
Hodge Podge is a great local restaurant. I’ve been twice and had the same meals as I liked them so much. Fairly limited menu but everything they do, they do well with attention to detail. Friendly staff and good prices considering the quality and presentation of the food.
Left the restaurant wishing I any any idea of the recipes for all the dishes I ate. Very minimalist menu but offering such a vast choice of flavours. Minimalist furnishings keep the place casual and focused on the food, rather than pomp.
Fabulous we will be back!
loved the creativity in the dishes and the flavours are divine!
We booked for late night which in retrospect was a mistake. We should have realised. The dishes we would have chosen were off the menu. Unfortunately, what we did eat was odd, partly hot and very overcooked. Also the wine wasn't very nice. A shame, as we had been looking forward and it is an unusual concept, but it didn't quite work for us, sorry.
We loved this local neighbourhood restaurant - a real hidden gem that I'd urge anyone living in the Finsbury Park/Crouch End area to visit, or to make the trip from further afield.
The food is inventive, beautifully presented and seasonal, with great size portions that don't leave you feeling short-changed. I had a massive slab of rib of beef, extremely tender due to being cooked sous vide, but finished on the grill so not lacking in flavour. Also great wine list and cocktails.
We've eaten here twice now, and it was great both times. Really imaginative food, at very reasonable prices. The service is friendly and the cocktails are smashing. Stroud Green is a bit of a foodie hotspot at the moment, we have so many great places to eat - despite all that stiff competition, this is my current top pick for a 'proper' meal out.
A great deal of thought has gone into every aspect of dining. The fairly short menu means everything works. The flavours of the food were really spectacular, and the dishes were beautifully presented. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere friendly, but professional. We will return.
4th visit, still excellent and good to see it nearly full.
Great local gem of a restaurant. Food is inventive yet unpretentious, with distinctive but not over powering flavours. If choosing three courses the menu works exceedingly well as the flavours get more rich as the courses progress. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, the space is pared back, minimalist yet comfortable. Trendy but not annoyingly so. Seriously good stuff.
Found this under hidden gem section on opentable and it certainly was. The food was excellent. I had the duck ragu which was rich in flavour. The short ribs were the best according to one person in the party. Didn’t have enough room for dessert but bet they were good. Will definitely be going back.
