This is the latest location for Chop House in Edinburgh and is a welcome addition to the Bruntsfield area. We had a great lunch, unhurried enjoying the quality of steaks and a well-rounded Pinotage. The service was chatty and friendly.

Disappointing - very expensive and poor value for money but the food was appealing but way too much salt for my palate - I felt sick after the meal from salt poisoning.

The Sunday roast was amazing. We went for the porterhouse with all the trimmings and it was wonderful. We ended up eating 3 courses the food was so good and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. A dead cert for a Sunday venture and we’ll be trying the normal menu too.

Very slow service on Saturday night and two out of four steaks were underdone
Got a free drink at the end but for £100 a couple food and service need to be much better. We were booked for 8pm and we didn’t get our mains until 9.45pm. Waitress was lovely though

I ordered sirloin steak. There was so much fat on it at least 30 % of the steak was left. Not a pleasant experience spending your time cutting through fat . My partner finished eating a good 10 mins before me as was so difficult to cut. Still expected to pay full
Bill price. First time here best steak meal I’ve eaten. after this experience I won’t be back unfortunately.

Great for steaks, obviously. Three adults and three kids (7-13) shared a wonderful chateaubriand with great starters, sauces and sides. Desserts weren’t bad either! Not cheap but the meat is worth it.

First time eating here and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and very helpful talking you through the different cuts off steak and the food was first class. I found it great value for money as one off the few occasions I have eaten a faultless meal. Definitely will go back soon.

We went to celebrated our wedding anniversary and really had a great meal if fact the whole dinner was excellent I especially enjoyed the scotch egg starter and would recommend it. The steak is smothered stat of the meal but my wife loved the mask with gravy it was really rich and beefy tasting. I cannot day any item was not tasty I love the batter in the onion rings. I could go on and on but these thing to say is you must go there soon

It's a sort of glamourised fast food joint - rush rush rush - and, as such, a wee bit overpriced.
You are only allowed two hours - and that on Tuesday night, when the place is not full.
Which turned out not to be a problem as we wouldn't have been able to make our special occasion dinner stretch that long anyway even if we tried. Mains arrived 8 minutes after cocktails were served, leaving us either to down our cocktails (which sort of defeats the purpose) or let our food get cold.
Everything was annoyingly pretentious. "Penicillin" cocktail came with a massive ice boulder sticking out of the glass - the waitress explained that it "didn't dilute the drink as much as smaller pieces of ice". It might be true, but the problem is - it doesn't leave much space for the drink that it doesn't dilute, so you get about two teaspoons of cocktail. Also the ice boulder presses on your nose when you are drinking, which is very far from pleasant. (The "Wild Cherry" cocktail, conversely, came as a slushy, coloured with some cherry liqueur.)
The wine was excellent, the food (rib eye and blackened tuna) - very good, but the whole dining experience disappointing never the less.
Chop House Bruntsfield is a perfect place if you want to gobble up a very good quality, reassuringly expensive stake very quickly in a very hipsterish sort of environment. But it is still a far cry from what you might call fine dining.

From the moment we arrived everything was fantastic. Amazing starter, muscles were so tasty. For main we ordered a sharing board of steak. Best steak we’ve ever had, melted in mouth! Lovely wine and lovely cocktail at the end. Staff were lovely and made the night. 10/10, made our weekend!

Starter (Squid) & desert (Brownie) were very good. Main courses disappointed. Steak didn't look like Ribeye & wasn't cooked medium as requested. The blackened Tuna didn't match its description. Was expecting a far more spicy & black/peppered outer but instead just looked like it was normally seared. Nothing special & wife left more than half of it as she wasn't sure if it was off. Sides were below average. Dripping chips were flavourless, onion rings were bog standard & peppercorn sauce was bland and tasteless. The only saving grace was the slaw which was very tasty.

In terms of service our waiter was very nice, welcoming & attentive. The meeter/greeter wasn't overly friendly on initially coming through the door. Wasn't the warmest & best welcome we've ever had.

Overall we had high expectations & were left very disappointed by our visit. Food was only average & wont be going back or recommend to others. I think you can get a better steak meal elsewhere in town.

The steak was beautiful, unlike any I'd ever tasted. However, it was tiny for the price we paid. The chips were so thin and crispy they broke in half when I tried to pick them up with a fork. I didn't think straw fries were going to be string fries. Wine was great, bread and marrow butter was amazing.

Overall, I probably wouldn't go back unless I had more money than sense. It was expensive and the portions were very small. But, great steak.

booked for husbands birthday and there were 6 of us on a round table which was great. The starters were lovely and the servers advised how many of each starter to order based on appetite ie hearty appetite versus not so hungry and leaving room for my main etc ,steaks were very good, cooked as ordered and the puddings delicious. I would definitely visit again.

Patchy. The starters were divine... mini taco, battered prawns and scotch egg. Cauliflower steak cooked on grill with pomegranite and mint was inspired, need to have that again soon! Sides and steak great. Mussels were inedible shocking that a chef would send such rubbish out. Staff attentive but long delay between courses where no one in the room had food was irritating. Mussels and drinks taken off bill to compensate for disappointment and delay.

Service pretty slow, food lovely but by the time our sides arrived the steaks were getting pretty cold. Glass of wine took an age to arrive as well in spite of it being late on and the staff not obviously busy! Staff seemed a bit too cool for school, apart from the girl who brought us our food who was very professional. Bit of a strange set up as well in that you weren’t sure who was responsible for your table? We were served by so many different people! Lovely decor & ambience good (excellent music) but won’t be going back, sorry.
