We came for our first visit for my husbands birthday. The service was sadly very poor, food was Mainly very good. But at these prices you cannot provide shoddy service. The appetiser came at the same time as the starter, the main course took 40 minutes to come after the starter was cleared - we had to ask the waiter to find out what had happened. It was then shortly put in front of us with no apology or explanation. My husbands steak was also over cooked (asked med-rare, was well done). But we hadn’t time then to send it back and he was starving. We had to get home to let my parents get home and after a long wait I asked a waiter to clear the table and bring a dessert menu. After ordering I had to chase desserts too. Only on complaining to the manager did anyone apologise or explain what had happened (he just said there had been slow service from the kitchen). He did give us desserts free but since we had to virtually inhale them to get home in time I should think so. We don’t think we’ll be going back, perhaps for a quick lunch if convenient but not for an evening meal or special occasion.
Had my second visit now and yet again great food quick service and such a lovely place
An excellent venue with a comprehensive menu. The appearance is a mixture of traditional and modern but service was excellent and the quality of food exceptional - would heartily recommend
Excellent dining experience. Worth every penny. Very chatty and friendly staff.
Good food, good service. A second enjoyable visit. This was for my son's birthday but unfortunately there was no repeat of the lovely mini cake surprise when we were there a few weeks ago for an anniversary. must have been too busy.
Pleasant atmosphere with great service. Our waiter was fantastic and very friendly and helpful. The food and drink was great, this was my second visit and will definitely be going back.
Wedding anniversary celebration, two generations. We requested a booth and was given a great table. Brunch/Lunch menu offering plenty with comprehensive wine list.
Perfect long lunch catching up with friends. Friendly professional service; attentive but discreet. Vibrant decor and spacious layout something different and original in Cambridge.
Very nice lunch. Our waiter was excellent, very attentive.
One small comment - when confirming booking I had mentioned that it was my son's 21st and was told he'd receive some sort of tart/cake. Nothing was forthcoming.
Great decor but service was poor. Busy Saturday lunch and we had to keep asking if the food was going to arrive. Order champagne, drunk that then asked for starter etc
Would be good to try when not busy
Good food and lovely atmosphere
I would recommend to everybody
Excellent service and really good food. We went for a birthday lunch which was ideal.
Excellent. I've been to a few of the brasseries and this one did not disappoint. Service was superb - warm and attentive and the breakfast - we had the vegetarian -was really delicious. The decor and comfort of the restaurant is great and combine these together for a winning formula in the middle of Cambridge. Special mention to the staff who were exactly what great customer service is all about. Thank you.
Great looking restaurant food good but not organised on Friday night over an Hour wait for pre booked tai!
Very vibrant and fun place . Interior design 10 out of 10 .
Service a little slow , had to ask for too many things that should have been standard , but didn't spoil our evening fun place .
Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and a reasonable choice for gluten free dining. Where possible they will adapt a dish e.g remove croutons from soup an provide gluten free bread with the option of some cheese on top.
Lovely place but service not brilliant the waiters seemed to be having a meeting and we were left for ages before we were asked about drinks. After that had to ask to order food!!! Not given the specials at all probably won't return in a hurry
Food was delicious and well priced. The bread is well worth having. The table was quite close from the door bur generalky i eould recommend
Nice to have an Ivy in Cambridge! Good quality food at a reasonable price with lovely service.
From the time we entered through the entrance we were treated with courtesy and attentiveness. The food was cooked to perfection and served with the professionalism one would expect. A good range of dishes to choose from, to make one think ' I will try that one next time'. As it was a special occasion I requested a little extra treat at the end of the meal which was delivered with panache and ended the meal on just the right note. The decor was bright and interesting, the toilets amazing, although quite a walk and the atmosphere very relaxing. It was a wonderful dining experience.
Husband and I went to the Ivy for lunch following our tour of Cambridge. It was a splendid. We both had the shepherd's pie which was really delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful and just the right amount of attentive. We will definitely be returning
Wonderful for a special occasion or afternoon tea. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. An overall lovely experience.
Service was exceptionally slow even though we told the waitress twice that we had a theatre engagement. We had to ask several times where our food was and we had to go to the bar ourselves to obtain the bottle of wine we ordered. It took 45 minutes to get our food even though the restaurant was almost empty. The food was OK but wine was expensive for quite ordinary bottles. We refused to pay the service charge and will not go there again.
Went for a celebratory lunch before my Graduation and it was just perfect!
The waiting staff at the Cambridge branch are wonderful folks and nothing was too much.
Food was to die for and they had something for everyone, I am still thinking about the Chocolate bombe I had for pudding.
Thank you for helping making my graduation such a wonderful day, I really mean it!
Very nice meal and excellent service. Food was outstanding.
Our occasion was a celebratory birthday dinner for my wife. Having had a large family meal in one of the basement rooms in June this year which did not exceed or even meet our expectations, I thought I would try the Ivy again in the ground floor dining area to see if our earlier encounter was a one off.
Arriving at the Ivy this time, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Our waiter was prompt and explained the house specials with enthusiasm. Our food and wine was delightful with service being prompt.
We will definitely return with friends in the not too distant future.
Three of us for Monday late lunch. Not too busy. Nice and bright interior. Food all excellent. Got upsold on the wine £16 a glass, beware. All in all very good experience.
Great food and ambience. Level of service however leaves room for improvement!
Pleasant family meal. Some interesting dishes. Good varied wine list .
We booked a table for a birthday meal and were extremely happy to find that we were given a lovely table near the front window which gave us an ideal spot to enjoy the street view as well as dine in a quieter area of the restaurant. Our waitress was absolutely lovely and looked after us perfectly. The food was divine. The two vegetarians in our party were happy too as there was a good selection of choices for them and both enjoyed their meals immensely.
The decor is vibrant and colourful, lots of interesting art on the walls, with a nature theme coming through. Seating was comfortable. The serving staff were all caring and friendly, making sure we were happy during the whole time we were in the restaurant.
When you first arrive and enter the reception area you can give your coats in to be looked after, which is really handy.
Desserts are a little pricy but they were delicious!
As we booked through Open Table and ticked the reason for booking as "birthday" we did expect something in recognition of this but nothing was forthcoming and we didn't want to ask. Not sure why this is asked.
All in all, we loved our meal and the experience and will be back again very soon!
Lovely visit. Reception staff were very welcoming and attentive. They brought a small cake with a candle when they found out it was our daughters birthday. Very nice food, good sense of theatre with some of the puddings. Really enjoyable visit, they made you feel special, we will be back
Went for mine and a friends birthday having been before for my daughters. Did not disappoint, service excellent - Yannis very good and looked after us really well! Lovely touch with the Happy Birthday treat too.
We treated friends for lunch which happened to combine with my daughter's birthday.
Whilst you may not want to encourage families we thought the children's meals were excellent value.
The waiting staff were great made a fuss of us without being intrusive.
Well done excellent service really enjoyed ourselves.
Lovely decoration and ambience. The food was nice and well presented and decent value for money.. All the staff were individually very friendly and helpful but several requests were forgotten - probably because multiple staff members were looking after our table. Overall very good and i'd go back.
We were lucky enough to be given a voucher for £80 for my birthday. We booked up with high expectations. The restaurant was very busy as expected on a Saturday night. Plenty of staff but the service was not amazing. Table not cleared of empty glasses waiting ages to catch the attention on staff. The food was good but very expensive most mains needed a purchased side ie: veg, potatoes etc. £9.50 for a pimms seemed expensive also especially as it only had mint. We won’t go back again or recommend.
Popular for its name and not overall experience.
Excellent service, food was very good but a little too salty. Bottled beer was outrageous price! Bright, lively but noisy and crowded, not good for romantic dinner!
Great place, atmosphere and service, some gems on the menu but a lacks repeatability
Our first time at The Ivy will certainly not be the last. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The setting was lovely. The staff were attentive and not pushy. My friend and I were celebrating birthdays and although we hadn’t requested anything, we got a little sweet bite with a candle and a drink each on the house! We’d like to say that Yannis was absolutely lovely and an asset to your team!
Service is quite slow and noise level is so loud you can barely hear your friends talk. Food is good and decor is attractive.
Great value lunch set menu, nice choice, presentation & delicious.
