Overall outstanding dining experience. Seated promptly and food was excellent! Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner choices not one bad complaint. Ambulance is fantastic a bit noisy on this night. Server was overall efficient & friendly, could have been a bit more attentive but more than adequate. Great night to celebrate my wife’s birthday with some friends!
Fun atmosphere. Nice, casual, clean. Popular location in the city. Everyone knows Johnny’s. Probably in the top 3 most popular restaurants in Schenectady NY
We went to Johnny’s to celebrate my sons 17th b day. Johnnys made it so special. It seemed like all the staff knew it was his b day and wished him a happy birthday. Quite special! The food and everything as always is top notch. Thanks for a great celebration dinner!
We have dined at Johnny's and was always satisfied and recommended it to our friends. We dined there on Saturday July 27th and I had to ask the waitress if it was under new management because I could not believe that it was the fine restaurant that I dined in so many times before. The food was not up to par. The Chicken Cognac, which was always my favorite, had no taste, the chicken was cut very thick and no sauce. I asked the waitress to bring extra sauce on the side and that was all Cognac with little no taste of the Dijon mustard. The other person ordered the Veal Milanese, I think they put the veal in the deep fryer, very bland, NO lemon or butter sauce. The third person ordered Shrimp Diablo, again bland and not enjoyable. This is the last time I or my guests will frequent Johnny's. All I can think of the saying "Where's Johnny". Good luck to them they are going to need it.
Food was amazing....excellent service! We’ll be back!
Food was excellent and service was just as good. Highly recommend !!!
Had a birthday dinner for my wife with 10 people attending. One person didn't receive their meal until everyone else had been served and was finished with their meal. After bringing out and presenting the cake I had for my wife it took 20 minutes before they finally returned with it cut up for the group. Why that simple task took so long I have no idea and was given no explanation. After being prompted they did finally agree to take the long delayed dinner off my bill. The food was good and our server was nice, but we did have some glitches and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy that night.
An excellent Italian restaurant, a little pricier than we'd normally go for but we had a gift card from Christmas. Will recommend to our friends who enjoy Italian food more than we do. Great service and the atmosphere was wonderful.
Johnny's food and service is always exemplary.
Johnny's provides a wonderful menu and a great value.
We had dinner at Johnnys on our return from Cape Cod...and it was a great way to end our vacation! It was not crowded...and we enjoyed our dinner at the bar. The bartender joined us in some lively conversation while being very attentive to our needs! The food is always great at Johnny’s...we have had dinner there on several occasions now as we travel back and forth to the Cape each summer! We will be back!
As always our food was amazing and the music and atmosphere warm and inviting. Our server was adequate, but not at the usual level of professionalism we've come to expect from Johnny's. She made a couple of off putting comments when members of our party were late arriving and was not especially attentive. Perhaps she was having a bad night. Other that that thanks for a great birthday meal!
Either new or overwhelmed waiter Senaca needed to apologize from the start of the night after we waited 10-15 for him to take a drink order. He then said after taking drink order he may as well take our dinner choices so we didn’t have to wait any longer. I believe the food came before the drinks. He apologized again saying his coworker was suppose to bring them. I guess we are so use to having Brittany as our server we take excellent service for granted. However, will always go back for the food and atmosphere
Food was excellent quality. Service very prompt. Our server Deborah has been at the restaurant several years and shared some of her favorite menu items with us when asked for an opinion. The only negative is that the restaurant is so popular reservations usually need to be made weeks in advance. Even so, we will definitely be back.
Recommended by our niece, I was disappointed by the service. In particular we waited 25 minutes for our table despite having a reservation. Waited 5 minutes to be served at bar, then had to ask repeatedly to settle our tab. Gave up and went to our table. Almost decided not to pay bar tab (they would never have known), but was honest. Then waited while the cheques were combined. Total time about 2-3/4 hours. Longer than we intended as needed to meet relatives afterwards. Food pretty good though.
Was a great time had by all. The service was awesome my family was fed promptly the waiter was awesome and very nice
We go to Johnnys for all of our family’s special occasions and we’ve never been disappointed!
We arrived early and gave hostess our name and went to the bar. It was very busy with a show in town and graduation weekend which we didn’t realize. At 8:15. (The time for our reservation) we went back to the hostess just to make sure we weren’t forgotten as people who came in after us were seated. We were told it would be a few minutes for our table. By 8:45 we decided to stay at the bar and have dinner. The bartender was extremely attentive and we enjoyed her company. We’re not sure if the issue is with Open Table or the restaurant. I think the hostess finally came over around 8:50 when we had already placed our order and had a dinner set up in front of us
The chicken tasted like overly microwaved mc nuggets... the pasta was terrible...the list is lengthy We’ve been waiting four years to celebrate graduation night there. What an unbelievable let down! Honestly, the worst food we have ever experienced in any restaurant!
Quickly seated courteous wait staff prompt food delivery delicious entrees
We.were outside on a beautiful late spring evening. Food was great as was the service
First time at Johnny's for our wedding anniversary. Food was amazing. I could cut filet with my fork it was so tender. Staff was amazing, right on point. Will be going back.
We met with friends, that we haven’t seen in awhile, and had a great time. The service was very good as was our meals. We will return to this restaurant often.
Was a bit taken back that the male host stopped at every table around us to ask how their meal was and never stooped as ours. I did mention to him and he came up with some lame excuse. Obvious it was a cultural issue. However, our world is very diverse-so everyone should be acknowledged. All the money was green. Our waitress and wait serving staff were superb; and tip was left to show that appreciation.
Consistently excellent Italian dishes, and a good array of specials. Friendly staff, and we are rarely disappointed
It was my first time at Johnny’s and let me tell you, I can’t wait to go back. Since I was told that their Italian was out of this world and they make their own pasta, I of course, had to get a pasta dish. I got the Pink Sauces Alla Olivia with their tagliatelle pasta. It was amazing! One of my new favorites in the area. Our server Donna was great as well. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for quality Italian food.
Food was excellent, and our waitress Sarah was wonderful.
Great food and great staff---would definitely eat there again.
Happy Hour is always busy!
First time a Johnnys excellent food and service can’t wait to return
As always, the food was delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. Never had any empty serveware on the table for long. All staff would check our table as they walked by. Seem to have shared responsibility of each table, which definitely works.
Have always loved this restaurant! Amazing pasta and have always had great service but tonight the server seems to be rushed. VERY impatient when we were ordering, had to wait for refills of cocktails, in fact the only time she was friendly was when she dropped the check at the table. We are not difficult guest, bring us food and drinks and we're happy! Also, I had ordered a margarita and it was very weak, and at $13 I should be able to taste the tequila. I asked the server to bring me a shot of tequila so I could add it. I was charged, which was no problem....but the cost was $11.00! I could have gotten another entire drink for $2.00 more dollars! Overall sadly not the best experience!
Always love it here. Food is always great and the service is always friendly and welcoming.
We were seated next to the opening to the bar which was very noisy. I started with their house soup which was tasty and not over salted. My husband enjoyed the Italian dressing on his salad. We were not as pleased with our entrees. Although my salmon was cooked perfectly, the mushroom and asparagus risotto was not cooked enough as the rice was chewy and it was too oily. My husband gave his veal parm a 7 out of 10. He said it was good but had had better at other Italian restaurants we have been to. The servers were friendly and attentive. We would go back but would request a different table and would order different entrees.
We ate at Johnny’s before a show at Proctor’s. The food was amazing! A little disorganized when seating people with reservations, but serving staff were great. Would definitely eat here again.
Delicious food, pleasant staff, fair prices. I enjoyed the experience and will be back.
Visiting son at college
Service was great food was great. It was a performance night at Proctors and I feel like they rushed us through. Would have liked to be served at a more leisurely pace. I would recommend.
Ambiance very nice; wait staff great; food somewhat disappointing to us. We prefer pasta with red sauce included as a side with dinner; we were not offered that. Portion size of entree was smaller than other local Italian restaurants. Taste of food just OK (Carbonara cream sauce was watery, piccata was OK). The drink i ordered was 3/4 full when served which was disappointing. The bread was very good as was the oil/vinegar dip for the bread.
The staff is excellent, friendly and professional starting with the hostess to the bussers. My water glass was never empty. The manager stopped by to make sure everything was fine. The food was delicious as always. Highly recommend the Italian nachos for an appetizer. The waitress overheard it was my husband’s birthday and brought a complimentary piece of gelato cannoli cake with a candle on it. Nice touch!!! Thank you!!! Finished in plenty of time without rushing us for the show at Proctors.
Our server asked as we sat down if we were attending the show at Proctors that evening. Once we said yes, he made sure to get our order in quickly and allow us plenty of time to enjoy our wonderful meal. I would recommend Johnny's, even on their busiest evenings.
