Absolutely excellent food, service and wine.
A true 5 Star experience. High quality food in a high class environment. The dishes at Tosca are modern with a hint of classic and perfectly prepared every time
Fantastic food and service! A bit pricey, but well worth it!
My 2 friends and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Tosca. I would recommend this place to anyone. I did find the portions a bit small but I filled up on the very tasty bread so it was OK. If you are looking for an elegant place to enjoy a wonderful meal with 5 star service this is the place. I will be back.
Service was EXCEPTIONAL!!
What a great treat, eating at Tosca! We arrived a bit early for our reservation but the staff went right to work to get us seated. From the guidance through the menu to the attention to detail, the staff was EXCELLENT! The food was unique but quite delicious. It’s rare to find a restaurant where everything was “just so” for all members in the party, but Tosca was it!!
The staff is great, here. Always a treat, especially for Restaurant Week!
The service and the outstanding good made for a memorable evening. I highly recommend Tosca.
Tosca is always an excellent choice, and no time more so than Restaurant Week.
Elegant place & dining room. Correct, but uncordial staff. Good ingredients but very poor cooking, had our branzino’s returned to the kitchen cause they were still partially raw. Overall a very disappointing experience, not worth a detour !
The food is only topped by the great staff!
This was a disappointing experience. Although the food was generally well prepared, it didn't come out hot and the portions were quite small. Caveat: it was Restaurant Week so I'm guessing they were expediting/pre-plating some apps and entrees but still... room temperature (or colder) fried squash blossoms and seafood fettuccini is unpleasant. Speaking of unpleasant, our waiter was unfortunately flat out unfriendly. The other staff around the restaurant and the hostess were very polite, though. I can't imagine paying full price to eat here (it wasn't worth the RW value) and again, service with our waiter was uncomfortable no matter how friendly our table was to him. Would not recommend although the inside of the restaurant itself is beautiful.
Wow! Incredible food! Highly recommend.
Awesome, great service and food. Had grilled octopus and it was fantastic.
Have been a patron of Tosca for longer than I care to remember, but I keep coming back because the food and service have always met my expectations which, in Tosca's case, are very high. No surprises during this latest visit, just the quality that I look for from Tosca. My two companions agree.
Going to Tosca was a great experience, from the hostess to the maitre, and the food, everything was great.
Outstanding as usual
Love Tosca always great service and food
My wife and I had the very pleasant experience of taking a young couple who are friends to Tosca, last night. We were exceptionally pleased with the food and we have never found better service. And we have traveled the world.
It began when we arrived twenty minutes before opening, because we had been worried about traffic that never materialized. They came to the front door and invited us in, when they saw us waiting outside. We offered to sit at the bar but they let is take our table and wait while we had a cocktail and talked. The bread alone was something to write home about.
Dinner began with excellent appetizers. The prosciutto was highlighted with several very impressive garnishes. The soup was exquisite. They have a very good top end wine list, but we ordered the Barolo from the regular list and it was the best wine I have had in months. All of the entrees were perfect, superbly served, seasoned and presented. At every moment, the wait staff and the manager were attentive and helpful. The desserts were great and the grilled asparagus side dish was amazing.
The postscript is that I lost my cell phone that night. The issue with these types of incidents is that you often do not believe the restaurant staff when they tell you that they phone is not at the restaurant. But on the phone, and later, when we went back, they made it clear that they really had looked everywhere. (It turned out that I had dropped it on the street outside after dinner, and some "helpful" person took it to Anacostia. I got it replaced first thing the next morning.)
We go to the Shakespeare Theater a lot and we will make sure that Tosca, which is nearby, will be our pre-theater dinner choice.
Some here have complained of the ambience. This is a small street level restaurant in a downtown. It is not some quaint mansion in the Garden District of New Orleans. It has no less ambience than Le Bernardin (three Michelin stars) in Manhattan.
The service and the food were exceptional!
Fantastic experience. We were grabbing a bite prior to a concert and were in a bit of a rush. The staff made note of our situation and ensured a wonderful experience. Service was impeccable, food was top-notch and came out quickly. We had an outstanding meal in roughly 30 minutes. Wow. And to top it off, I realized my concert tickets needed to be printed. No problem, the manager was happy to assist and print the tickets for us. I will be returning soon. 5 stars.
Another excellent meal at Tosca - excellent food, wine, service and atmosphere.
Decor has the look of a dated hotel, and menu was somewhat limited, but the food and service were good.
As always, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff gracious. While most of my meal was superb, there was one wrinkle that the staff, in my opinion, did not handle well. The mushrooms that I ordered were inedible; they smelled fishy and tasted so bitter and "off" that I split them out, concerned that they were not safe to eat. Although the waiter asked my dining companion how his meal was, he did not ask me - I surely would have told him why I wasn't touching the dish. When the busboy came to clear the plates, I told him why the mushrooms were untouched. He smiled brightly and left them there, along with my plate with the forkful of rejected mushrooms. Upon his return, our waiter did not ask why the mushrooms were untouched; as I was my dining companion's guest, I felt awkward voicing my objections unasked. I would have appreciated the waiter giving me the opportunity to express my distaste for the dish without appearing ungrateful for an otherwise lovely dinner.
As your service has always been impeccable, and our waiter was otherwise gracious and attentive, I will assume this was just a case of poor communication. I would suggest, however, that a completely untouched plate of food warrants a gentle "Was everything to your satisfaction?"
Food can't be beat. Just the best. Full stop.
Service was knowledgeable but not terribly attentive; actually, quite slow. I chose Tosca because, while expensive, it has historically been quieter & conducive to audible table conversations without the need for raised voices. To my surprise & mild dismay, however, it was distressingly noisy, with two large groups seated in close proximity to our two-person table, with the result that my companion and I had to speak to each other at nearly shouting level at times.
Amazing experience! From service to presentation to taste to ambiance we had a wonderful evening!
I came in on a Monday evening with family. We arrived at 5:30 so we were able to get the pre-theater fixed price menu. Everything was very good - but the star of the show was the Bronzino.
Went here for my birthday, and it was a very nice dinner! Our waiter was fantastic and so sweet. The food was good as well! Cavatelli, ravioli, and risotto were amazing - I think the ravioli was our favorite. Wine selection was phenomenal.
Food overall was exceptional as was the service. Our main waiter was as good as it gets. Highly recommend this place. Your wallet will definitely be a good deal lighter when you leave, but we felt it was well worth it.
Best Italian restaurant in town.. consistency is their second name; I am from Italy; I lived in the bel paese for 20 years and Tosca is Italia!! Management, hostess and waiter/waitress are the cream of the District of Columbia.. hands down.
A truly fine Italian restaurant, with excellent service and delicious food. Try the risotto, the daily seafood offerings, and the veal. Pastas were terrific, and the wine list extensive. A new favorite of ours in DC.
Awesome! Thank you Tosca!
This was a delightful experience and we can’t wait to return. The impeccable service was rivaled only by the scrumptious food. And a beautiful, intimate, calm atmosphere. We loved it!
Delicious food. We loved everything we ordered. Very accommodating. We had two different food problems (lactose intolerance and no/low sodium diet). Tosca was able to nicely handle both.
Tourist in D.C. for a week, wanted Italian food. Ate here twice, the dinner was delicious, exceptionally prepared and presented. Staff were attentive and discrete.
It’s very hard for me to write a review for this restaurant because we were both very disappointed and yet very happy at the same time. To begin with we are big wine drinker‘s and when the glass of wine I ordered was delivered to me it incredibly small and pour for the price and when I mentioned to the waiter he said our glasses are 6 ounces and that’s that. I found the prices to be high for the size of the portions however it was probably one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever eaten . But my husband‘s pasta for his taste profile was off putting and we mentioned to the waiter he did not say anything or do anything to help.
The food and service were absolutely outstanding! A bit pricey, but completely worth it.
A great dining experience! I look forward to our next visit.
