With a great reputation for sustainability and ethics, the team continually source incredible produce from all corners of the country, whether it be hand-dived scallops from the Isle of Mull, 35-day aged grass-fed British beef, or rare locally-sourced whisky. A simple ethos of buying the best and preparing it simply means that most of the menu items come from exceptionally passionate, small-scale producers.
The restaurant holds space for 170 guests, including a beautiful, light-filled private dining room for 12. With intimate booths for the evening, sunny tables for two under the huge sky-lights, or seats near the kitchen pass next to all the action, Hawksmoor is the ideal spot to dine with colleagues and loved ones alike.

Excellent meal was had. Great food and the service very friendly. Will be back soon.
Hawksmoor Edinburgh did not disappoint. Firstly, the restaurant is in a fabulous setting. A beautiful building that lends itself to ‘oppulent’ Dining.
Secondly, the service was fantastic. Nothing was too much and our waiter was always on hand to help with any questions we had.
Finally, the food. Oh the food. Truly exquisite oysters, marvellous steaks and just a wonderful atmosphere to be in.
I would definitely run back to this restaurant when I am next in Edinburgh.
Busy restaurant with a good atmosphere, our server was very informative and talked us through the menu in detail with suggestions/recommendations to suit. Food was fairly quick to come and was excellent throughout. Watch with the sides, as we took two each and i'd say that is too much, the server recommended three between two people.
very good steakhouse. a bit quiet at lunch but as the place is cavernous , presumably its jumping in the evenings. all staff were friendly and welcoming. whilst sitting at the bar the barman looked after us with water etc and drinks. easily transferred our bill to the table. the food was pretty amazing , and plentiful , but expensive. probably you pay for what you get so no complaints here.
Great food plus excellent service - what’s not to like?
Food was exceptionally good. The sirloin steak was wonderful and the mash was heavenly. Service was great and the surroundings beautiful. Price was good value for money considering the quality.
We have visited Hawksmoor at 7 Dials in Covent Garden in London on a few occasions and loved it. Hawksmoor in Edinburgh did not disappoint. Wonderful all round from food to service to atmosphere.
Superb building tastefullly renovated by Hawksmoor. Friendly attentive service. Excellent food, particularly the steaks. Perhaps a little bit too pricey but definitely worth a visit. Have visited various London Hawksmoor’s and this definitely reflects the successful Hawksmoor ethos
Food and service were excellent. The entrance was difficult to find due to extensive building works next door. Edinburgh is blessed with many excellent restaurants, however, we will return to Hawksmoor.
We went for my daughters 18th had a great time food fantastic and our waiter made it really special highly recommend Hawksmoor
We wanted to see what all the fuss was about with much media attention following opening. We were x 4, a business related lunch but also out to enjoy a nice somewhere for lunch. Chose from the "Express" lunch choices on Monday 05th November. The Doddington Caeser was a huge hit in terms of taste and unusual / innovative presentation, as was the other starter artichoke salad. Mains included the Hake and the Express Fillet again excellent quality. We had 1 x vegetarian in the party and choices well catered for and enjoyed. It was a quiet lunch service, but we hugely enjoyed lunch and our 2 hours spent at Hawksmoor. Will definately recommend to friends / colleagues.
Food and Service in point. Couldn’t tell if I was at air st ldn or central Edinburgh - very consistent thoughout
We had a great dining experience! The staff was really friendly and attentive and the food was great. We got a cute corner booth which made the restaurant seem more intimate despite the large size. Overall a really wonderful night out.
One of the best restaurants in Edinburgh
Once again fantastic service and amazing quality food (best steak and seafood around). We enjoy London Hawksmoors but visited Edinburgh especially for this opening. Junior, in particular, was an amazing host!
Fantastic ambience, good support for special dietary requirements.
Incredible food, drinks and service! Can or recommend it enough.!
Lovely food, service was a little slow. A little lacking in ambience, didn't feel as luxurious as other steak restaurants in the area.
Very good selection of food and drink. The staff were excellent. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the selection of drinks.
Will certainly be back.
Good restaurant, great steak.
Would definitely recommend
Ace! Great staff and such good food! Steaks are top quality!
Delicious starters and desserts - but given the restaurant chain is famed for its steak our mains were disappointing, even more so when the cost of the mains is taken into consideration. We aren’t likely to return to the restaurant based on our experience.
This was our first time here but we will be back. The restaurant had lively atmosphere, staff were attentive and very friendly. Good range of choices on the menu. Our steaks were cooked to our preference and were very nice. We did have a cocktail each and thought that they had good selection
I had emailed in advance to tell them that the occasion was my sons birthday and there was nothing to recognise this. Also left to our own divices with menu. The quicker the better!!! Forgot to bring us drinks and no enthusiasm from waiters at all. Really disappointed in service, but the fillet steak was very good.
Lovely food and really nice staff! Would recommend to anyone for a special meal out!
The food was good but no better than other Edinburgh Restaurants. Good service and attention to detail and no long waits for anything ordered. Overly pricey for what it is.
I found the restaurant a bit odd. Not quite sure but don't overly like it. It's not the Dome in terms of ambience and atmosphere.
Now I've tried it, I will stick to where I like best.
Fantastic food and great service. We will go again
Great service, very friendly and accommodated my request for a table that suited my dad's mobility issues. Food was nice too.
World class service and food!
Have been 5 times since it opened only a few months ago and love it. Staff always very friendly and food always top drawer. can highly recommend...…..even if it is a bit pricy!!
Excellent steak and chips lunch, sticky toffee sundae was also fab
We had the Roast Beef Sunday lunch which tasted delicious and what looked like 3 large pieces of beef on the plate. My partners was fine but mine only had I piece that was all beef, the other had a large strip of fat down the side and the last had so much fat on was inedible. Should I have complained? Maybe, but would rather let the restaurant deal with it when they came to ask how things were. which in my opinion shows the measure of the establishment and the level of customer care. The server collected our plates and when I told him I couldn't eat it all as it was all fat he apologised, that's all nothing to compensate. We ordered dessert which was lovely then asked for the bill . Hawksmoor should not be serving a" beef dish" when the majority was fat. As tasty as the food was the lack of customer care has put me off, the place is quite cold and soulless too. We work hard for our money and when we do spend a bit more on a quality Sunday lunch expect to want to come back for more. Sadly not in this case.
This was my second visit to Hawksmoor and I still think it is very good. The staff were nice, friendly and knowledgable. I had the scallops which were gorgeous, then I had the Sunday roast. The meat was exactly as I had ordered and it was tender. I also ordered a side dish of mushrooms...they are delicious! It is still on my list of places to eat.
Very Nice restaurant, with excellent meat. The wine list is also very nice with many choices
GREAT - quirky building, lovely ambience - nice and busy and vibrant and SUPERB steaks!
First time here but definitely not the last I could not fault the whole meal , beware the portions are man sized but the potted beef started is worth stretching the waistband for. The ribeye steak is one of the tastiest steak I’ve had in the UK and the cream mash and gravy was just the perfect side to complete this main.
First time at Hawksmoor and very impressed. Staff are very laid back (in dress and attitude) but in a nice relaxed manner. The food and surroundings are immense. Was delighted to see there was a theatre type menu (hadn’t realised they did one and was prepared to pay full price) that actually had good stuff on it. Fillet Steak was divine! Will Definitely be back!
Dining room housed in beautiful historic building. We had a late lunch, so the restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we dined. Food was excellent, I can recommend lunchtime deal of rump and chips for £15 .- amazing value. Chips themselves deserve special mention, the best I've had in a lone time, thick, chunky and very crispy. Steaks were beautifully cooked and tender. Will be back for more
My husband said it was the BEST steak he’d ever had! Couldn’t fault our visit - superb
