Amazing Cantonese cuisine done in a respectful and modern way
Lovely food, great service. Only issue was the restaurant was cold and seating not very comfortable. For the price you pay for the meal, which was very tasty, I would of expected a more comfortable setting. The staff did try to accommodate best they can but explained they could not prevent draft from the building or chairs being uncomfortable. Address that and I’d be coming back for sure over winter.
Great food and really good service. Highly recommend.
Amazing amabience and interior and finger licking good Asian cuisine! Amazing night out with the girls started here :)
Not our first time at this restaurant and it won't be the last, the food is always amazing although the service could be a wee bit quicker. My husband enjoyed his birthday meal very much.
Duddells food is very good-special dim sum, salted chicken and halibut this time-all excellent.Desserts are rather disappointing and not much choice but then probably don’t need it given the other courses.Cocktails Greta and some very interesting off the beaten track white wines. lovely setting of converted church. It is pricey though-£170 for two this time and we didn’t go mad on drinks. I prefer to Hakassan as quieter and food is as good even if not as big a range of food or cocktails.
Second visit to try the free-flow Sunday dimsum brunch. The champagne was an excellent pair to the dimsum and the server’s refill game was very much on point. Dimsum was yummy as always but the siu mai on that day was even better than I rememberered from a previous visit. Would really recommend the place for Cantonese dimsum lovers, and try the free flow brunch at least once to indulge yourself.
The best dimsum I’d ever eaten sure I will come back again in my next trip to London
The duck excellent
We had a really great time at Duddel's. There was a problem with our booking but the staff were so extremely polite and eager to set things right and gave us a lovely table at the balcony. Service overall was excellent! Waiters polite, helpful and smiling. Food was pretty great thought we did expect more dim sum options to be available.
The atmosphere is modern, relaxing with mostly big groups of people sharing the amazing duck.
The converted church has an amazing ambience and the food is amazing. I've been here several times already and I'd never doubt to bring my visiting friends here.
Wonderful food, wonderful cocktails, lovely atmosphere- sat by the door so felt a bit of draft as people were coming in and out - but overall a fantastic experience
Essen Top, Service Doppelflop
On the pricey side but wonderful environment and staff. Food very tasty wish portions were slightly bigger.
Food was fabulous and decor amazing. If your a couple like us ask for a table at the side as quite tight in the middle with tables close together.
Only negatives are the wait staff kept asking us the same questions as they don’t have one waiter per table. Additionally waiters wanted to clear plates quickly and whilst one person was still eating which I fond rude, you should wait for both people to finish eating.
Finally we ended up being there over two hours as we had a three course meal and were asked to move to the bar to finish which was extremely rude in my opinion as they needed the table for next sitting. Worse still there were two free tables available in the restaurant also to seat two so surely they should have sat them there???
Overall I would recommend going for the food which I cannot fault but be ready for several waiters asking you the same question
Delicious food and lovely staff
Great food and atmosphere! Really enjoyed it.
Exceptional food, excellent service & all round fabulous experience.
Wines were excellent it all married together perfectly.
Booked for a birthday that was kindly accommodated with a special treat in the dessert but will be sure to visit again.
Overall the food was good, however i had the vegan menu, and found a crab/lobster shell fragment in my food, luckily i am not allergic to shellfish, but it shows no attention to detail. Also all i was offered was £6.50 off the final bill and for them to remake my food (i had already eaten quite a lot of it at this point) this is quite poor.
I would still recommend this place to anyone as the mock black pepper chicken was amazing (i was told it comes in a sauce but it was dry so this is something to bear in mind)
Tables on the main dining floor (if you’re not sitting in one of the booths) are really closely arranged and don’t leave much room around. Plus, table sizes are small — doesn’t help if the waiters don’t know how to schedule sending out meals without crowding the table or spilling food over you (yes, this happened and no, they didn’t bother to compensate or do anything about it). Food was ok, only dish to really shout about was the black cod and (maybe) the duck. The lobster noodles were disappointing. Not sure if a return to this place seems likely or worth it.
Great venue!! Food, service and ambience were all on point! 👌💪👊✌️
The food was excellent and so were the cocktails. It’s pricey but it’s worth it for once in a while
Not at all up to the hype and promise of great Cantonese food. The food was good but not outstanding which disappointing. The service really need to pick up there game.
Do not go now, it may pick up its game!!
The food was great, bit pricey but really good.
There was no service!
the restaurant had a nice interior with friendly staff. The food quality was good and tasting as it should be. Service was great, we asked them to turn down the ventilation next to our table and it was done immediately. Well recommended for a good dim sum get together with friends or family.
The food was good however, the service was slow and they forgot about the drinks. As it was a Monday, it wasn't overly busy but the service was very slow, so made the overall experience not good. I would recommend the lobster noodles and the chicken dumplings.
Good was impeccable but service was seriously chaotic ! Booked for 2 hour free flow champagne brunch and enquiring how things work we were told not to order all of items in menu! My ideas of brunch is exactly that , wanting to try different things that appear on menu ! Also with free flow champagne, it felt like they were holding back initially by having to ask for a fresh glass every time ( which took a good 5-10min ). But soon they they realised that going round with a bottle and top glasses up was more practical( dishwasher prob couldn’t keep up ). Guess things in Hong Kong work differently but when u gonna open a restaurant elsewhere you have to adapt to its culture and dining habits! So to most having free flow brunch means having a feast esp as it’s Sunday and you wanna have a great time with friends
Delicious dimsum - really amazing king crab and mango dumplings. Loved the brunch menu. Would definitely go back again and try more dishes. Sweet and sour pork was surprisingly moreish. Staff were helpful but just note that food takes time to arrive so some dishes arrived early and some came much later, so don't expect a quick meal here.
Fantastic food, would recommend and would return. Food is worth the money.
Fair to say a decent meal, however in no way comparable to Duddell’s in Hong Kong.
Service was decent but not really attentive.
Wouldn’t really go back.
The service was terrible, some of our food didn’t arrive, some typical menu items were not available and the food was VERY Expensive. It was embarrassing bc we were entertaining friends from out of town. Bad impression all around.
Went to Duddell's for lunch on Saturday. Very unusual setting in St Thomas street which is really interesting and creates good visual impact. We went for dim sum and particularly enjoyed the steamed dumplings which tasted freshly made and very good. Cocktails with a Chinese twist were fun and the waiter was very friendly.
Dined with a friend on a buzzing Monday evening. There is a separate vegan menu which is good although very mushroom centric - good job I didn't go with my sister who doesn't eat mushrooms! We couldn't finish everything we ordered and our waiter kindly offered to pack it for us. The sommelier is good - she recommended the Perrier Jouet Brut Rose which although expensive (£120) was very good and went down well before during & after the meal.
Food is good. But our seat was arranged at the corner of the corridor that staffs keeps passing by on the narrow corridor which was quite annoying. And there were kids sitted both sides who played with the food and made the floor very messy. There were other empty seats at the time and it was off-peak, although those seats were for four people and just two of us. Sanitation can be restrengthened.
I so wanted to love it. But wasn't to be. The staff seem miserable and stressed. A chap was drilling using an electric drill. The dim sum was oversteamed and not a patch on e.g. Yauatcha. Service began very slow (we sat without menus or drinks for a good 10 minutes) but thereafter they did their best. Not sure what's going on there but the staff just seem unhappy (apart from the lovely sommelier). The roast duck was nice but that's about all I can say for it. We were so disappointed. And to come away with little change from £200 for a meal for two where only one glass of wine was bought...ouch.
Excelent!! Very good food, quality ingredients and a nice atmospher! Professional and kind service.
Lovely venue but very limited options for gluten free diners. Rather expensive for essentially grilled vegetables as the only gluten free starters (£13).
Excellent quality of food. Helpful and friendly staff. Relatively small portion size of dishes based on the price. Ideal for date, celebration and special occasions. Restaurant is with a nice sitting and a little unusual.
Only the bar has been decorated. Other area of the restaurent with odd setting/ furniture or colour theme doesnt match.
Food is awful. Portion is very small and the taste is not authentic. It is a rip off.
I really enjoyed my previous visit (lunch)and was keen to share the experience with my wife .
I booked dinner on Tuesday via the web, clearly stating that my wife is gluten intolerant.
Apparently none of your starters are gluten free, so we went straight to a half duck. We were then told we couldn't have the duck because the pancakes are not gluten free. I suggested my wife would be quite happy to have the duck but using lettuce leaves instead of pancakes. The waiter arrive with 4 tiny leaves!!
So, a disappointing evening and much as I like your restaurant and love your food, i won't be able to bring my wife or any gluten intolerant friends
Absolutely tremendous! Wonderful, delicious food, and terrific service. We had a birthday in the group and asked to be greeted with champagne, Duddell’s accommodated. We asked to switch tables to be more comfortable, Duddell’s accommodated. We asked the hostess if they could put together a sharing menu and were accommodated beyond satisfaction. The wine was great and well paired, our glasses never empty and our table cleared in a timely fashion - but of course, only after each dish had been savored. The food is amazing! We struggled not to lick the plates. Go!
