McLoone's Pier House
Food was mediocre.
The restaurant was busy for a Thursday night, but some of the slip ups were inexcusable. We had to ask for utensils and napkins, and the server brought mine but had to search for my husband’s. We waited a long time for our food. My husband’s pork was over cooked. While the pork was served hot, the potatoes were ice cold. We have been to this restaurant many times before and have always enjoyed it, but this was very disappointing. I’m not sure if we will be back.
atrocious. my 5 year old said his pasta tasted like it was covered in barbeque sauce. wagu beef Wellington is actually pigs in a blanket (according to the waiter it is a high end hot dog in there! exact words) baked brie served luke warm on top of 2 inch deep fruit jam. the lobster in the lobster mac was rancid. easily the worst resturaunt in the entire pier village.
Wide selection of great tasting, fresh food. Buffet was well-kept and aesthetically pleasing. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Excellent value and great views of the ocean, too.
The view was perfect.
It was extremely load due to a full house on a Saturday night in August, so that’s our fault :-( however, we were never offered grated cheese or pepper for our meals, or dishes for empty mussel shells, and we kept having to ask for cutlery that we weren’t initially given. Seems like basic stuff that could have been taken care of easily. Food was decent, lobster Mac and cheese was excellent. View was beautiful. Waiter was nice.
Food was GREAT and the atmosphere was also GREAT, I would highly recommend it.
The service was good, our food and drinks were brought out promptly, our water glasses did get empty and not refilled often. Most of the food was perfect, everyone else loved their food but I ordered the Creole Scallops and my dish came out much different than the pictures i saw online. Online pictures showed four large scallops with creole rice in the middle. What i received was 9 mini scallops that were not flavorful and were not cooked correctly. Most of my dish was rice and thats really all I ate. Pretty disappointing. But we also ordered the crab and avocado tower and that was very delicious as well as the spicy tuna roll and the California roll.
Beautiful view , great food and selection. Great service. The only thing that wasn’t great was the free bloody army with was small, watered down and I’m not sure it actually had any vodka in it. Otherwise it was a great brunch. Great place for a celebration,
Forgot a meal
I am a vegan-When I was finally served it was a dish without meat and was served with bacon added
Sauce for pasta was not good and my seafood dish had no flavor. Needed a table spoon for the pasta dish and waitress brought a soup spoon and said the restaurant did not have table spoons. Italians need a table spoon for the spaghetti. It was very loud in the restaurant. overall will go again.
Great food and staff. Calamari was a little more breaded than I expected for a place of this caliber but it was still good. Great ambience and excellent view of the ocean while dining!
The view was great and our server Key was attentive. The food was good but not spectacular. The salmon was overdone so dry.
On the ocean!!! Beautiful view. Food was really good!
Mike was our waiter, attentive, helpful & charming!
Our grandson had the 3 lb lobster, potato cake was crispy on outside & soft inside, very tasty!
What can i say i was look ing for Chilean sea bass topped with lobster as I read on Google Maps. There was no Chilean sea bass there was only halibut with the lobster. So we passed and ordered the salmon with the oranges. Salmon came out very salty and very dry. We sent the sound back. The wings and the fried brussel sprouts had that same sweet and sour sauce on it. The slice steak had these dry fried onions, with string beans and a potato pancake item. The best part was the potato pancake item. The steak with mediocre. The wings were decent and the fried brussel sprouts I would not order again. When I go back sure why not this time maybe I'll try the filet instead
Great and service was the best. Had a great time! Plan on coming back again.
A well trained young staff awaits you. My waiter Mike was great. I never had to look for him. Great attitude great service. The food was good. Great view of the beach and the ocean.
For an appetizer it says pig Wellington (wagyu beef)... pigs in a blanket for $13. Husbands filet was not cooked properly and the sauce tasted like canned mushroom gravy. My salmon was well over cooked and very tasteless. The ambience was nice, but for that kind of money the food was definitely not worth it.
The food was overpriced and had no taste. I ordered the vegetable risotto and I couldn’t even eat it it was that bad. My brother had the crab cakes and for $34 they were two mini crab cakes. The only good thing is that our table did overlook the beach which was really nice but I would never recommend the food they need a new chef to put some taste into it and the calamari which my husband and I always order wherever we go was the absolute worst!
Wonderful. Our friends were late, but that was no problem for either the hostess or the servers. They honored our request and had a great table by the ocean. Excellent food, although somewhat pricey. No pressure, not crowded or loud. This was a very enjoyable lunch an a steamy day when everyone in the state and beyond was at the beach.
The food was amazing! The view was of the ocean, not to mention the food was AMAZING. our server, I don’t remember his name but he was great. Dessert and drinks were also good. Would definitely come again.
The restaurant is nicely situated right on the beach so I gave it 3 stars for ambiance. However I was very disappointed at the quality of the food given the price they charge. I have been to other restaurants by this chain and it was better. For example, I ordered a linguine seafood pasta and it came out with penne. I ask the staff if they make the wrong order and they looked perplex. Then they said we ran out of linguine. Restaurant should have notify and ask me if I would like a swap or something else.
Good night for our team! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Thank you.
Sunday late afternoon in the summer not withstanding, the noise level was ridiculously loud making any attempt at conversation nearly impossible. The waitress had somewhat of an attitude and was extremely unhelpful regarding drink and food selection offering no suggestions. The food was mediocre at best and way overpriced for what was served.
I have eaten at other 'McLoone's', Asbury Park in particular, which was markedly better at everything than what this version offered, and which is why I was expecting more from the Long Branch version considering it has a way more touristy crowd with higher expectations than what was delivered.
I have also often eaten at other Long Branch Pier Village restaurants, The Ave, and Roony's, as recently as 07/01, which is a short walk from McLoone's Pier House whose prices are somewhat, but not outrageously higher than Mc'Loone's. The ambiance in each are equal, however, the food, service and noise level are exceptionally better. I will not go back to this McLoone's when there are obviously better choices right next door.
Great spot to watch the waves break and beach goers in the summer . Speedy and efficient service and good quality food .
It is a perfect restaurante to enjoy a nice beach atmosphere and fantastic view. The calamari frittes are delicious. Everything en ate was very good. Se will be back
I used to love coming to Mcloones but the atmosphere has gotten loud and unappealing. Kids throwing crumbs everywhere and screaming, just a lot going on and not a peaceful dining experience despite being on the beach. The food is mediocre for the price. The burger was over cooked not to instruction on what felt like wonder bread. Not sure how that’s worth 20 dollars. Service usually forgets something and leaves dirty plates on the table with the entree. Will likely have to start eating elsewhere when we visit. Also, bathroom was completely dirty, soaked and with toilet paper in chunks littered on the floor.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Our waitress was exceptional, the food was delicious and will most certainly come back!!
We went there with the family (7 total) because of the look of the restaurant, set on the beach at sundown. We were prepared to spend money for a great dinner. The service was good, the apps were good, the entrees(burgers, filet mignon, swordfish) were not good. The bill was high. We have dined in many places, we like to travel....and have no problem spending money on a good/great meal...but this was terrible, not worth what they are charging at all. (Such a shame and a letdown)
Some dishes were burnt, the rest just weren’t very good. Very overpriced. Service was very good and it has a beautiful view, but probably wouldn’t eat there again.
Birthday celebration - waitress was very good, salad came late with main course, food was good but not incredible
- was too cold in the restaurant made it uncomfortable
Food was not good, special lobster pasta dish was very expensive & not good. Waitress was friendly. Would not go back, we have been here numerous times & it’s never been great..
Location location location and the food is good!
From appetizers to the entrees my table really enjoyed the food. The service correlates with diner service as this feels like a diner at times with the traffic and tone. Our waiter could be new as her opinion on entrees items was lacking plus she was unsure what menu items were gluten free. Pricey but I bet it has to be more relative to location location location as it has a beautiful beach side view almost from any seat.
Yes, McLoones was all that Tim puts into his restaurants.
The kitchen and service were a bit erratic on this visit. Meals arrived at different times but the manager tried to compensate for it which also caused some confusion when the check arrived without the bar tab.
Extremely noisy and difficult to hear. We were seated right away with Open Table. Service was good and all enjoyed their meals, steaks, burger, sweet corn ravioli. I ordered the wrong thing for me, Asiago ravioli. It’s like an Alfredo Sauce, rich and creamy. I loved the pasta and veg, sauce too much for me. If you like that, try it. We were seated at the window so the view was great.
Had family in from out of town. Amazing ocean views, excellent waitress and consistently good food.
The food was not that good yet the view was great. Too expensive for not good food. I don’t mind paying for excellence.
