We were changed twice the price for ordering from the festive menu. Meal would have cost £27, but we were charged £55 for the addition of a Xmas cracker(tacky trinket inside) mince pie that came at the same time as desserts (had anything about the menu had been communicated to us then we would not have ordered dessert either. We had to take the mince pies home but then we didn’t get the cream! Told we had complimentary hot drinks after I ordered a coffee so again we didn’t want this and the waiter told me he would take the coffee off the bill as my complimentary drink. So that was a waste! Oh and the other waiter threw the custard all over my partners shoes! Then had the nerve to tell the chef we wanted “extra” custard. Also, the DJ was far too loud to hold a conversation over the music. Very disappointing with the service and I just really did not enjoy the experience.

On arrival it took an age to get served at the bar, partly due to the amount of people sat at the bar and not able to get the bartenders eye. We sat down for our meal and handed the menu, it was too dark and like many others had to use the torch from our phones to see the menu. Food however was excellent especially the duck parfait starter. I thought the music was far too loud, the bass was too deafening for my liking. At the end of the meal I got the impression that we needed to vacate our table asap being asked to move to another part of the restaurant, which I felt spoiled the end to our evening.

Lovely place and great service. Unfortunately my fillet steak was served cold with a cold bearnaise sauce which was solid in the jug. A very bad combination. However, the service was very good with free dessert and drinks offered.

We went to the top level Garden room. Decor was ok but definitely looks nicer in the pictures and they cram everyone in so that the staff are having to shuffle past constantly. Service was quick and attentive so good. I think it was quick because the menu is same as the ground floor and alot of covers so I suspect they just keep churning dishes out and keep warm and then distribute. Our food was just warm and looked and tasted like it have been hanging around for a while. Food very disappointing, we can certainly cook nicer fresher food at home. My wife left last bit. I believe the Asian is nice but I would avoid otherwise. I guess it is busy because the decor is reasonably nice.

Holiday Menu, 3 courses for £55. starter= Mozzarella, main= sirloin steak, pudding= chocolate with salted caramel and cream. Very delicious. But there was a big service charge, plus VAT.

The Ivy Roof Garden is less noisy than the Brasserie downstairs and all the better for it. The food and service were excellent and we never felt rushed. Overall an excellent place for lunch or dinner.

Beautiful restaurant, gorgeous atmosphere and really lovely staff. Champagne was fantastic and starters were very nice but mains left a lot to be desired. Steaks were of poor quality and not cooked well. All in all, would definitely return just for the views and atmosphere.

We were seated in the middle aisle of the dining room. Tables are really small. There were 4 of us in our party and hardly any room to place our drinks. Our coats were not taken so had to be draped at the back of our chairs. Our champagne glasses were taken before we had even finished the bottle of champagne. The food was just ok. 2 of the party ordered steak medium rare - these were over cooked. Didn't bother sending back as we wanted to all eat at the same time. The toilets smelled. It was a disappointing because it was for a special occasion and expected more and with the bill coming in at £464 it wasn't cheap. I've put it down to experience. I will go again but for drinks only. There are lots of great places to dine in Manchester, sadly this is not one of them.

Overall enjoyed it. Had to wait for the table booked for 7 pm, 7.20 when we got our seat which always annoys me because that means you have to go to the bar for a drink which I think is a ploy because the table was ready as I walked past at five past. anyhow the service was brilliant. The food was delicious but very noisy Music far too loud

Beautiful setting, staff are attentive , polite and welcoming. Excellent service Unfortunately the food wasn't to our taste , however this is our personal preferences and in future we would choose to drink only here .
