I've been dining at Carlile before Paramount theater shows since it first opened. The menu in the last year has really changed and has been uninspired and very minimal, with no vegetarian entre. In the past we could at least substitute the burger for a veggie burger but they no longer have this either. We dined with a large group and everyone found the food off and limited.

Pretty disappointed in the whole experience. Got the baked cheese app. Cheese had no flavor, the grapes had seeds in them and I almost broke a crown, bread was cut way too big The shrimp pasta had only the flavor of garlic and nothing else, olive oil pistachio cake was very dry, the drinks were literally served in mini glasses and the service was non existent

My Carlile Room experience deserves an A+++ score! But, I admit I was worried when I read the restaurant's menu sent by OpenTable with my final confirmation email. OT's menu was NOTHING like the menu on the restaurant's website. The differences being one menu that was intriguing. and one serving up glorified diner food. My guest/helper and I were going regardless; we had concert tickets for The Paramount Theater right across the street from the Carlile. I use a wheelchair and need an attendant, so proximity between the venues would make our night easier to manage. I had also read several reviews of the restaurant by dissatisfied diners. I hoped those assessments were anomalies; I've never had a truly "off" dining experience at any of Tom Douglas's many catered events or restaurants beginning with his employment as a "rising Seattle chef" at Cafe Sport in 1984. ( I've lived in/near Seattle for 50 yrs. -- yikes!) On arrival at the restaurant, we were delighted to find the menu very like the one on their website. Our server was gracious and attentive from start to finish. The orders of handmade potato chips with artichoke dip and crunchy shiso peppers arrived promptly. We devoured every scrumptious bit. Next, a well -priced French brut rose champagne was poured. (Chips and fine champagne: a classic combo, non?) I ordered the scallops with pesto, brown butter, & pureed cauliflower; balanced, yet sensuous and rich. My friend had the Wagyu steak, grilled perfectly. We shared a bit, reluctantly, because both dishes were so delicious that we wanted to keep our choices all to ourselves. The steak's sauce was plate-lickable (just don't, though). For dessert, I introduced my friend to the "triple coconut cream pie. He dubbed it "my dream of a dream pie." Earlier we spotted Mr. Douglas bussing tables. (?!) He stopped at our table before we left, and asked if we needed anything. He then returned with our order of coffee, which we later found was "gratis." What a lovely evening!

The food was disappointing. Not attractive on all four dishes, one color, brown. Heavily seasoned, mostly salt!? We had three different inexperienced persons waiting on us; taking bread plates, then putting them back. Bread before dinner was with only oil, no balsamic vinegar or other. For this awful dinner, we paid a premium. Ugh! This restaurant obviously stays in business because located across the street from the Paramount Theater. What a rip off!! Never again

Love going to the Carlile Room before theatre at the Paramount. They always seem to have a menu of themed cocktails to celebrate the show across the street. Tonight was no exception. Perfectly mixed. Everybody on staff is always warm and attentive. Food is always delicious and meals here are very reasonably priced compared to what is charged at many other restaurants in Seattle. On this trip, we enjoyed steak frites and the shrimp scampi. We have never been disappointed by the Carlile room and will be back again soon.
