Restaurant X & Bully Boy Bar
We enjoyed the food, the service was great, and the servers were attentive, but we were surprised when we opened the menu and saw even higher prices than we found online on the site where we set up our reservation. The manager explained to me that i was looking at an old menu, and they could not possibly keep up with 20
different menus that they maintain online. He and I argued for several minutes before he agreed to honor the prices I anticipated when I reserved the table. I didn’t enjoy starting a celebratory meal with such a poor vibe. I also found the room we were seated in to be a loud sound chamber and some of the walls to be in dire need of a paint job.
Very delicious food, and inventive menu, but there seems to be an issue with the food coming out at the correct temperature. My appetizer (bone marrow) was luke warm. Not knowing if that was correct, I said nothing. Then when the potatoes with my entrée came out less than luke warm, I had to send it back. Unfortunately, all they did was put the entire plate under the broiler, serve me an extremely hot plate (one of the wait staff burnt himself on my plate), and overcook the sweet breads that were on the same plate. This is completely unacceptable in such a gourmet establishment.
Spectacular, fun, surprising--it couldn't have been better. We came expecting a standard brunch menu, but Restaurant X rolled out delectable small plates one after the other for two hours. Our table sampled everything and we were delighted with everything--vegetables, breads, pasta, capon, shrimp, scallops, salmon, tuna, eggs, duck, lamb, pork (with an apple fritter--excellent combination), beef sirloin, so much more. The flowing prosecco elevated our mood. The service was impeccable, and we loved that the waiters roved from table to table serving all the food family style from big bowls or platters. They brought five desserts to our table of three, which felt like a gift. In fact the entire meal felt like gift; the check was reasonable, perhaps because doing brunch this way is efficient for the kitchen. Of course the setting, in an old house, was lovely. We've been Peter Kelly fans since the Garrison days, and he's not only a genius chef but clearly an amazingly organized businessperson who has been delivering consistent high quality in multiple locations for all these years.
Fantastic brunch! Service was impeccable, bottomless mimosas - clutch. Food was very good, and definitely not in short supply. Be ready to take the afternoon off to nap after brunch there...
Food was great!...However they really need to put some money into updating the place...Where we were sitting there was a huge crack down the length of the window, the chairs were old wobbly, and the bathrooms looked like it predates the building. Additionally, they need to talk to the staff... the parking attendant was having a full fledge conversation on his phone while we waited 5-10 minutes for him to even go and retrieve our car or park the car that had just arrived... the wait staff was very attentive but I felt rushed even when I asked them to slow down....other than that (ha) the food was awesome!
Excellent service and food was incredible
Everything was great except the music. Suggest light jazz or classic and better sound system. It got rather annoying.

My wife ordered soft shell crab. it was deep fried, which is a bit gross. I ordered swordfish, which was dry. In general the place felt long in the tooth due to unpolished floors and an unpleasant odor in the entry way. This is disappointing, because in the past the place has felt more together, and the food has been outstanding. Maybe Mr. Kelly is too busy running X2O to bother with Bully Boy.
A unique dining experience! Our party of 6 loved it!
Tonight’s dinner was excellent. We were four people and shared several appetizers, entrees and dessert, to have a chance to sample more than just one dish. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly prepared.
Great service and food. Lovely ambience
The place is looking a bit run down. A large crack in a dining room window, worn carpeting and spots of peeling paint.
There was only 1 waiter assigned to the Main Dining Room. It wasn’t very busy on this Wed night, but it took 35 mins before we even got our drinks. And those were served by a manager only after I complained.
The food was good, but not as good as it’s been in the past.
Oh What Fun! We had a perfect evening from beginning to end. Royal treatment upon arrival. Promptly served. Cocktails, red wine blend. The pork chop was quite rare, but the rib eye for @ was exquisite, with a sumptuous portion left to take home. Coffee, creme brulee and a celebratory sweet topped off the night.
This restaurant,no matter what the name or owner (Mc Quade or Kelly) has been the benchmark of fine dining in Rockland County. The food is always superb and the service as well. My wife and I have gone there for years to celebrate our wedding anniversary and other events. This time it was my mother in law's 90th birthday and our 42nd anniversary. It was special as always.
The best restaurant within 45 minutes, period! Peter never disappoints.
My wife and I have been here before and on this visit the meal was great as usual. We came in for the Cowboy Steak for Two special. This is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. I chose Onion Soup, which has a rich broth and melted oozy cheese. Chris had salad. The side dishes, Creamed spinach and Augratin potatoes, were fantastic. Desert was Creme Brulee, which is the best I have ever had here in NY or France. Wine pairings were good.
My only nit pick is the bread. They parcel out one small roll each like WW2 rations. At these prices I want a basket, ok?
All together a special night out, with the usual professional service from the waite staff.
Plead to the owner: PLEASE, FIX YOUR DRIVEWAY!!! Cannot drive to your restaurant with my sports car which is low and would get really damaged because of the ridiculous potholes. I has been that way for a long, long time. Time to invest some money and get it fixed.
Excellent, as usual!
A nice variety of dishes passed the whole time for brunch so you can pick and choose or taste everything and ask for seconds. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly.
Great food! The restaurant is an embarrassment. Building falling apart, cracked windows, archaic bathrooms, parking lot full of potholes.
Very nice restaurant
My sisters and I come here for our birthdays and they never disappoint. We always eat and drink until we’re bursting and always have a good time. We always take pictures by the beautiful pond. Can’t wait for the next birthday.
Quantity over quality. Many courses of very small portions, varied in primary ingredient. None exceptional. Free flowing champagne. Not our type of restaurant.
From making easy reservations on line, to being seated on time. The service and food was AMAZING. Can't wait to go back.
Food was outstanding as always. The wasabi tuna was done to perfection and the watermelon shrimp dish was superb. My only complaint was that Valerie (I hope I got the name correct) our server was too busy with other tables to service ours in an efficient manner. She was slow to come to the table and it went downhill from there. A shame for that to detract from the dinner but I will return for the food.
Went for Sunday brunch. It was a unique culinary experience. Waiters come with a taste of 20 entrees and 4 desserts. The entrees included pork, duck, salmon shrimp, a few pastas, lamb chops, beef tenderloin, Caesar salad, fruit, roasted vegetables and more. There were four single serving desserts to be shared. Our table for two got : crepe brûlée, berry parfait, chocolate crepe and chocolate mousse. Unlimited good quality Prosecco was our choice for drinks. Service was excellent.
FOOD WAS NOT WORTHY THE PRICE. BEEF WELLINGTON CRUST WAS SOGGY. RESTAURANT LOOKED NEGLECTED AS DID THE GROUNDS. YEARS AGO I REMEMBER IT AS A BEAUTIFUL DESTINATION. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.
First time at brunch and I was left breathless, literally. The course were all excellent and paced decently. Quality of courses were superb and cooked as if each were made for individual service. I can't imagine keeping that quality at that volume for so many courses. Two issues I had for a first time visit. First was not knowing the line up which obviously impacted me for the heavier more protein laden courses. I left stuffed and all was above and beyond expected, however without knowing what was to come it was had to portion control or pass on. Desserts were all quality, but could not chose and fell disappointed. Overall best brunch, extremely fair price (I put a dent in the Prosecco. Can't wait to bring friends!
We celebrated Father's Day with a Peter Kelly Brunch & were seated in a room to the left after you entered. The ambiance lacked the bar & main dining room ambiance.
But the food & most of the service was great!
We did ask for alternate dessert options since the ones selected for us were basic & not nearly as appealing & delicious as many available to taste!
We have been coming to this restaurant since it was the original Bully Boy and it was always the special place we went to to celebrate special occasions. It still is but although the food and service is still first rate, the restaurant is looking very tired and badly in need of some cosmetic touch ups. Paint is peeling and windows and plaster are cracked. This is very sad to see in such a grand dame. We will still continue to come and this critique is made out of love from two long time devotees.
The food was okay. For the price I have had better. One of the sister restaurants H2O Is far better. Bully boy needs some serious updates. The restaurant smells like mildew when you first walk in. The carpet is dirty. The parking lot and entrance has more potholes than any other entrance I have ever seen. The restaurant also has a huge window in the main dining room that has a serious crack in it. Definitely feels as if this place has been neglected. Should be closed for renovations in my opinion
Excellent experience all around. Great food/Great Service. One of our favorite places!
The food and ambience is quite outstanding
It is one of our favorite go to restaurants when we want to take clients out or celebrate a special occasion.
Amazing 20 course brunch! Peter Kelly actually greeted us! So cool. Was ready to tap out around course 15-- the end is a lot of meat! Pace yourself!
I would only recommend that prior to visiting you make sure they don’t have a large party set. As a result our service level was non existent. Took 35 minutes to take our order and 2 hours and 40 minutes overall. Wait staff could only say well we have a large party in the other room every time we had to request to have service. It was my wife’s 65 birthday and this really put a damper on the whole day
The waiter was pleasant, professional and could explain dishes well. Everything was beautifully served. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was warm. We recommend it highly.
The restaurant had a musky smell when entering it. Needs to be updated (painting, floors, windows). Lights kept flickering. Food was good but the building was old. Parking lot needs holes to be filled in.
As always, the good was delicious. Unfortunately the restaurant hasn’t been updated in ages. The menu has not been changed in years. The restrooms were very poorly cleaned, and this all detracted from the overall dining experience. When paying this kind of money we expect things like the servers to know not to reach over us when delivering food. The servers clothing was dirty and the valet was very unprofessional in attire and responsiveness.
We hope that management will see this and work to revitalize the dining experience at a once great restaurant
