   We took are granddaughter for her 14th birthday and they made a special menu congratulating our granddaughter on her 14th birthday. The staff and the food was awesome.

   We had a wonderful experience at Mastro's with great food and attentive service. Our waiter was particularly empathetic, sharing that he also has a 3-year-old. However, our evening took a disappointing turn when we encountered a tall manager in a sports coat (not the Asian one). He approached us with a heightened state of anger and frustration, scolding us for allowing our daughter to stand on the booth. While we acknowledge this was our fault, it was our first interaction with him just 15 minutes after we sat down, and it felt quite harsh. His comment, “we have been trying to work with you guys here,” suggested that we were an imposition, which changed the atmosphere of our celebration for our daughter’s 3rd birthday. I would have imagined a less authoritative approach, like, “I’m sorry, we can’t have her climbing on the side of the wall—thank you.” A photo was tagged with Mastro's and posted to IG. I hope this gentleman has a better day on his next busy Friday. Final takeaway: while the food and service were excellent, it seems the Costa Mesa location may not have the skills or capacity to accommodate families as effectively as they could. Perhaps I can give the ocean club a try.

   Thank you Brandon for being an amazing server and your expertise with the menu, Kansas City bone in New York was heavily. Thank you to all the staff and kitchen crew for the beautiful experience. Presentation and ambiance are incredibly beautiful, what a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back soon😃😃😃

   Went for a birthday and it was beautiful. Live music and a beautiful interior. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Loved my experience!

   Great time as always! Hate I didn’t get to see Sammie but glad to know he do get a day off lol. He’s always there. 10/10 best Mastros in California

   Mastro’s is always a great experience. we ordered a seafood tower with just oysters and crab legs – delicious! The ceasar salad and hamachi were great pairings to the seafood tower. We ordered a couple of the Chef’s Cut special and the porterhouse steaks. Sadly, both of the chef’s cut steaks were pretty underdone (very rare; ordered medium rare). The kitchen threw them back on the fire and they came back perfectly medium rare. Usually the service is pretty great, but this time fell short of expectation. The server was cordial and accommodating when at the table but very difficult to get ahold of otherwise. Also, we had saved the bone of the porterhouse as a treat for our dogs at home and specifically asked for the bone to be boxed up. Upon checking the to-go boxes just prior to departure, we realized the wait staff did not box up the bone :/ - I was pretty disappointed with this since we had taken the time to explicitly ask for the bone to be packed up. Overall the taste of the food held up to our expectation of Mastro’s, but the service and order accuracy left a little to be desired.

    Good was amazing. We love the buttercake but the last few times it has been either too cold or the cake too dry and hard. Normally it’s warm and soft, but has not been the case the last 2 times we have dined here. The food was excellent but we love the buttercake and that’s usually our highlight, just wish it didn’t feel like they served us old cake.
