   My recent visit was not to the same standard as previously. My wife ordered a Chicken Sunday roast and I ordered the Roast Beef equivalent. On the menu it was listed that the Chicken roast was accompanied by Sage and Onion stuffing which is an absolute given for an English roast dinner. When our food arrived there was no Stuffing accompanying my wife’s dinner. I questioned the server who disappeared for at least 5 minutes to enquire as to why the stuffing was missing ( food cooling down all the while). On returning she informed us that they had run out. Given that this was the absolute start of the evening service (5.30pm) how can this possibly be the case. Toward the end of dinner service, maybe, but not the beginning surely. Apart from this. The girl on the entry reception was on the phone and didn’t even acknowledge our arrival with as much as a nod of the head for about Five minutes. The food was on the cool side on arrival. We ordered Bread with our starter. When this arrived there was Seven slices and One small knob of butter that was hardly sufficient for one slice much less the number presented. The staff were not very attentive and seemed more interested in chatting to each other, rather than making sure their diners were well looked after. This may be because gratuities are automatically added to the bill at the end, so are almost assured. Having dined there before and had a truly wonderful experience. We were really looking forward to this visit as the finale of our day out. And even though we will almost certainly give them another chance. This visit was well below par.

   Ate in the whispering Angel terrace for Sunday lunch. The only vegetarian main offer is pasta x2. Drinks took a while to arrive but then followed really quickly by starters. Mains then took 30 mins to arrive. So really odd pacing. Service was patchy. Disappointing for an expensive meal. We were sat at the back right by a speaker. No space on river deck for a coffee after the meal. I don’t usually review but feel really let down by for something as a special occasion.

   Booked a table for a 50th birthday celebration for 3. Unfortunately the kitchen forgot about our order. Chased for where food was on several occasions. When it eventually arrived more than 1 hour 20 mins later our drinks had finished and no one asked if we wanted more or even came to check all ok so we could order more drinks. We gave up after main course and left. Bill was halved in acknowledgement of poor service but it left a very poor 50th birthday experience. Would not visit again. Very disappointing

   Disappointing. Lovely location and decor. Service rather chaotic no-one in particular to look after our table. Wine ordered before the main course was served after the main course was finished. Too many guests for the staff capability. Charged for wine which I did not have.

   Unenthusiastic staff, no disabled access, wobbly tables. Quality of service didn’t live up to the venue and prices. We also came with a big group last month and the service was very poor then. Multiple times we had to go to the bar to ask where are drinks were and they hadn’t even received the order. The view is lovely and one of the nicer places in the area but could do with improvement.

   This was our second visit and a bit disappointing compared to the first visit just after the refurbishment. The venue is lovely and we sat by the window as requested. We were shown to our table and then left for some time We attracted the attention of a waitress to order some wine and and ended up ordering the meal too. After some time I went and asked her for our wine. She brought the wine while we had our starters after that everything speeded up. The food was good we just didn’t have a very good start. We had an enjoyable evening. I’m bringing a friend for lunch shortly so I’ll see how that differs.

   I attended here last summer for the first time only to be told our table was double booked....we were made to wait which we happily agreed to do but then the managing staff member was exceptionally rude to us. We went to leave but he came back and apologised and offered to put our drinks on the house so we stayed for a starter and a drink but then left. This time we tried again for my mum's birthday. In a nutshell, nice food, nice location but the service was poor for the price. It was cold and my 86 year old grandma was shivering. I asked four times (two different waiters) to please bring gas for the outdoor heater as ours was a tiny flame and giving out no heat. All the other heaters had been topped up other than ours. Nobody actually attended to do this so we gave up moved my grandma to the other side nearer another heater but we were pretty cold. Frustrating as it would have only taken a couple of minutes and it would have been a much more comfortable meal. Had to chase our drinks a few times and our meals were slow to come and came out quite far apart so ended up waiting for the rest and our meal going cold. Although staff friendly enough the service level just isn't there for the prices being charged. Probably wouldn't attend again for this reason. Shame as the food is good.

    we have visited the mitre on numerous occasions over the the last 30 years. we have had amazing times, including my wife's 50th for around 80 people. we are so lucky to have such a wonderful venue available to us. i think best to be honest on our latest visit, only to help improvements. the menu is very limited, which can also be looked at positively, good cooking and quality. i would like to point out that the staff, waiters were extremely friendly and polite. however, my comment now is not against them, they seem to have very limited training and understanding of service. to have two drinks and a prawn cocktail after 1 hour 20 mins is not acceptable. to ask for bread and butter 4 times over an hour, not great. when dinning out in such a special venue, you would expect good service, this is only down to the managers to help their staff.

    We had another fabulous meal at the mitre. The only thing I would say is that the sirloin beef is quite tough and chewy. This is the second time I’ve had it and it disappointed again. The ambiance and location of the restaurant over rides the bad steak but they need a new beer supplier or different cut of beef as this is not great!

    Fabulous setting and ambience . Service was polite but slightly slow . Food was good but the prawn cocktail was very old-fashioned and disappointing , limp Lettuce and dry . Beef and pasta was delicious

    Food arrived 1.5 hours after we ordered it- apparently problems in the kitchen but no one bothered to tell us this, we had to ask. Terrible customer service- no one asked how the food was when it eventually arrived. Food was cold but we couldn’t be bothered to argue by this stage as we were all hungry. Not the memorable Father’s Day we wanted. Such a shame as it’s a lovely location with a great menu. The manager agreed to give us a small refund off the bill but only after we asked.

    We had a terrible experience for my husbands first fathers day. The restaurant was clearly overbooked and overwhelmed with orders. The atmosphere was unpleasant with stressed members of staff and several angry customers, many of whom walked out. Management clearly didn't care and were happy to take a walk-in of 18 people but leave prebooked customers waiting the best part of 2 hours between courses! Alot of unhappy families. Genuinely one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had

    We were staying in Hampton Court on holiday as part of my husband’s birthday celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and our waitress was lovely. However, there was a 50th birthday celebration in a private area inside the venue that would spill out to an area near the restaurant. They were noisy and smoking and spoilt our overall enjoyment. Staff did request they smoke elsewhere but later in the evening they ignored the request. In addition, later they had a band playing which wasn’t ideal for a romantic dinner for two. It did spoil our special occasion.

    Food was amazing, really really good. But the service was appalling, no attention, forgot everything we asked for & just really slow & not present - it really was the worst service I’ve had for a long time, such a shame as with that level of food it should have all been amazing. Outside seating area was also messy & mirrored nothing of the inside ambience, where it could be wonderfully cosy & beautiful by the river with the lighting, it felt sparse, tables in weird locations & not enough heaters on or positioned in the right places. I would recommend the food but not anything else based on that experience.

    The hotel had forgotten that this event was on. Nothing was set up. Waited for ages while the staff worked out what to do with us. There was broken glass on the deck where the yoga was held. Yoga is done barefoot!! (The only positive was the yoga class itself)We were given a normal breakfast menu. The cost of which was £11 and one small glass of Prosecco. The cost of the experience was £50! Truly over priced for disappointing experience!

    A nice evening with good friends, food was good but service was really disappointing. It started ok but as the evening progressed the time between courses became longer and longer. After we'd finished mains, no one asked if we wanted desert, we had to ask a waiter after about 15 minutes. The service should be much better considering the cost of the pricing. My wife who has been 4 times previously and fairly recently, says this is consistent with recent visits. Defintely something which would make us think twice about re-visiting.

    Had the perfect table right by the window looking down at the Thames. Ideal for an incredibly hot evening! Lovely food , beautifuly presented and very good watermelon daiquiris! Will be back !

    Whilst the menu reads well the food is very mediocre and not very exciting in look or taste yet is really expensive. Also because they refuse to change anything within the dish I think it may all be brought in and not cooked fresh in the kitchen.

    Staff looked miserable, waiter mumbled one word query, dumped food down and departed. Did not offer sauces for fries. Overall every staff member on the floor could not have looked more miserable. Service at the Mute Swan next door is much better.

    Service very slow for drinks sat waiting for wine with dinner did not notice we had finished the glasses and needed more Ordered fizzy water with breakfast charge £4 for a glass bottle opened at table but cap taken away so we could not takeaway Lots of flies at the windows Staff pleasant but need more training COVID is not excuse for poor service

    We had to wait an hour and a half for our mains! Apparently it was due to us ordering a dish that takes 45 min to cook however we were not informed of this at the time of ordering and they only seemed to start cooking it once we had finished our starters. The Sunday roast was disappointing and poor value for 22 pounds. Prices are high due to location but I don't think the Sunday service is good value.

    When I booked I mentioned a birthday. Totally ignored by restaurant. In fact we were shown to a wooden picnic table outdoors which was unsuitable as I have an obvious mobility problem. Reluctant to seat us elsewhere but they did eventually in a terrible dark corner by the kitchen. Very noisy and bad lighting. The food took ages to arrive and it really wasn’t very good at all. I am really embarrassed to have booked this place for my husband’s 78th birthday lunch and will not be going back.
