Beginning in 2006, we have been serving the finest quality food to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Our goal, from day one has been to make damn good food, with honest ingredients while being kind to those we meet along the way.
We offer Terrace seating. Our Terrace is protected from inclement weather and heated for year round dining. It is NOT air conditioned. We do have ceiling fans and cooling fans for the warmer days.
We are proud to present our guests with a dinner menu free of hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup, yet full of flavor that only the freshest ingredients from local sources can provide.
At Terrapin restaurant, we are very passionate about supporting sustainable organic farmers and local watermen, as well as preserving the integrity of our menu and products.

My dear friend Jessica was visiting me from out of town and I hadn’t been to Terrapin in years, so I made the reservation promptly and score a table for 2 at 7:45pm, 1 day in advance. We started with the oysters apetizer, which were perfectly sized, sweet and slightly salty, so tasty they literally vanished from the plate before we could say…. “Duck”. Which was what my friend ordered for her entree. The duck could be described as “Fall on a plate” but I tasted it and it was better than any duck, and even competes with a fine filet. I ordered the braised rib served with mashed potatoes and carrots. It was savory, sweet, delectable and the meat so tender it fell off the bone. We split a beet salad as well and I enjoyed an apple crisp dessert with a scoop of ice cream and a coffee. The staff was welcoming, warm and attentive. 9/10, only because the AC was blowing pretty hard on me and I was cold. Everything else was perfect and delicious and I can’t wait to come back again!

Outstanding food and service, the outdoor terrace is very nice. Perhaps the indoor dining is a little better as the terrace looks out onto a busy street- but that’s not a knock on the restaurant. Well worth your patronage

We sat in the enclosed patio portion at Terrapin restaurant which is very comfortable. We ate everything on the charcuterie board. We ordered a delicious bottle of BRUNELLO which was absolutely superb! We shared the duck breast entree which was cooked perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended for their home-made pasta as well. Enjoy!

We travel to VB every year or so and always dine at Terrapin. The service last night at the bar was excellent. The plates were outstanding…beet salad, tuna crudo, pork chop, crab cake. The pork chop was cooked perfectly (slightly pink) ….tender and well seasoned. The crab cake was also perfect. My wife’s martini was excellent and the selection of wines by the glass added to our evening. Just go.

Excellent evening with great service and amazing food. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a fantastic dining experience. It was our friend’ birthday and first time going here and she can’t wait to go back
